What more to do for such a client
-
Hi.. We have taken a automobile spare parts clients SEO deal. 4 keywords to work on and competition is not that great also. So looks good.
For the first 2 months, we have finished doing its social bookmarking, social blogging , few directory submission and thre complete onsite SEO.
Now for the new months, what should be the new plans ?
What all things we can do for those 4 keywords ?
I mean, what more methods to promote ?
For this month, I have a new plan. Find all the related websites and send a personalized email to all asking them for a Link exchange.
Tell me more.

I'm going to be a little harsh here.
Does this website know your level of experience? Are you charging them appropriate to your level of experience?
The methods that you have used so far are not likely to make a huge difference in today's world of SEO. And, depending on how you are going through with this campaign you have the potential to do harm. Be very careful about what anchor text you are using. Overdoing social bookmarks and directories can cause a site to be affected by Penguin. See http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/are-seos-destroying-small-businesses-a-penguin-story
Reciprocal linking done on a large scale can get a site penalized. A few reciprocal links are not going to get a client penalized but are not going to be terribly effective as compared to one way links.
If you are not certain what else you can do for SEO, it's totally ok to ask questions and learn what works to rank sites these days but be careful that you are not doing your learning (and making mistakes) on someone else's dollar and with someone else's livelihood.

ohh sorry did I mention the URL -

Please please do not kill that website. Whatever, you are doing is killing the website. As the website is in automobile industry, there are loads of things to do. Do you have a social media marketing plan ready? What about the local seo strategy? How is the online structure of the website? Do you have a content driven marketing plan? Are you reaching out to your targeted audience by blogger outreach? Are you utilizing the power of email marketing? What you are doing in the engagement front? What plan do you have to improve the usability of the website?

Agree wholeheartedly with Sean here.
Link exchange?! Instead of writing emails to webmasters, write meaningful, useful content in this niche. Examples would include auto spare parts guides (how to install, what to look for etc), comparison guides between brands/products etc etc.

Well said Sean

Let me just start with saying...stop and take a step back.
Above you mention a bunch of outdated (directory submission) or just bad techniques (link exchange). I suggest you take a look at the SeoMoz beginners guide first to see what is all involved in SEO and than start from the ground up

Duplicating content from manufacturer for client site and using canonical reference.
We manage content for many clients in the same industry, and many of them wish to keep their customers on their individualized websites (understandably). In order to do this, we have duplicated content in part from the manufacturers' pages for several "models" on the client's sites. We have put in a Canonical reference at the start of the content directing back to the manufacturer's page where we duplicated some of the content. We have only done a handful of pages while we figure out the canonical reference potential issue. So, my questions are: Is this necessary? Does this hurt, help or not do anything SEO-wise for our ranking of the site? Thanks!

Client WIll Not Rank for Targeted KW Terms
Good Morning Mozzers, I am at a total loss. I have been working with a client in a "difficult" (to say the very least) vertical for roughly the past two years and for the life of me, cannot get these clients to rank within the top 3 for the targeted keyword terms. It seems that every time our targeted keyword begin to gain a little bit of traction and improve their ranking position, it is immediately followed by the same keywords plummeting shortly thereafter. I have done everything (in my mind) I can to try and get this client's keyword terms to rank, everything from revising the on-/off-page content, building citations, submitting the site to services like Yext, advertising on AdWords and Yelp, etc. but it doesn't seem to make any significant difference. I'm hoping that someone can offer some guidance into how I can get these clients to start ranking highly for the targeted keyword terms because I'm at a complete loss. I look forward to all of your responses! Thank you for reading. If you'd like to check out the site, the URL is: www.lawtonmd.com

Client is paranoid about Google penguin penalty from getting links from a new website they are building
We have a client that is creating a new promotional website that consists of videos, brands and product reviews (SITE B). After a visitor watches a video on SITE B they will be given a "click to purchase" option that will lead them to the original website (SITE A). Our client is paranoid that since all the outgoing links on the new SITE B are going to the original SITE A there might be algorithm penalty (for one website or both). I find this very unlikely and even recommend "no follow" coding for a peace of mind. However are there any resources/links out there that can back up my argument that they will be alright? Thanks

Why is my client's site not ranking anymore? Like big time!
Ok, I'm reaching out to all of you Moz'rs for some help with this one. My client's site has dropped off the face of google in a real short period of time. It went from page 1 (avg rank 3 to page 6 (avg rank 50) and below in the matter of 2 weeks. Here's some facts: 1. DA is a 22 and homepage PA is a 31. It outranks all other sites in its competitive set. 2. The homepage used to be the page that displays for keyword searches, now its the FAQ page, which has a lower PA of 23. Why has the home page seemingly vaporized? And, why is the FAQ showing as the first result? What should I start checking. I feel paralyzed, not sure where to start. More info: a. There are no alerts present in Webmaster Tools. b. For some reason the homepage (domain.com) was 301'd to domain.com/home.html. Domain.com is indexed by Google, however, domain.com/home.html is not. If this is the issue, what is the best way to handle it? Thanks in advance for your help!

When a client clones there UK site copy for a US version....
Buonngiorno from 16 degrees C cloudy wetherby UK, A client has cloned their UK sites copy for a US version. What theyve now got is a USA site and a uK site with exactly the same copy, the only difference is the suffix. Am i right in saying this will cause problems when for example a browser enters a phrase and two sites appear in the SERPS. Is a solution to this to block the usa site from appearing in the UK (is this possible?). Yes i know the true fix is to change the copy but we are dealing with clients here 😉 Grazie,

SEO Link on Clients Site
Hey SEOMozzers, Quick question. In light of the possible 'over-optimisation' penalties pending from Google should we be looking to remove the SEO links to our site from our Clients websites? I appreciate that including a link to our site from an anchor text that includes 'SEO' in it may be like waving a flag to Search Engines saying we are carrying out SEO on our Clients sites. Obviously we would sooner risk a drop in our SEO keyword rankings than risk a penalty of any kind for our Clients. What is the recommended practice here?

A potential client who got busted !
We had a call this week from a company who have been using a SEO company providing link building services. The back links they have been generating are seriously dodgy back links ! www.jumpforfun.co.uk Here are some examples of the back links - http://www.utc.fr/interactions/?FORUM-DEBAT-quel-s-role-s-pour-les http://mad.blogtv.uol.com.br/2010/03/12/homenagens-ao-grande-cartunista-glauco http://medical.gate2finance.com/node/67 Yes a seriously dodgy back link profile ! He received the following email from google via webmaster tools - Dear site owner or webmaster of http://www.jumpforfun.co.uk/, We've detected that some of your site's pages may be using techniques that are outside Google's Webmaster Guidelines. Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes. We encourage you to make changes to your site so that it meets our quality guidelines. Once you've made these changes, please submit your site for reconsideration in Google's search results. If you find unnatural links to your site that you are unable to control or remove, please provide the details in your reconsideration request. If you have any questions about how to resolve this issue, please see our Webmaster Help Forum for support. Sincerely, Google Search Quality Team I mentioned to the client I would speak to the community on SEO moz to the owner of the site and see what opinions other SEO's would have on solving this issue.
