Typepad.com blog migration & duplicate content
-
I've migrated a typepad.com blog with a bunch of content (but little traffic) onto a hosted WordPress site under my own domain name (the way I should've done it in the first place).
Now I don't want to confuse Google that the new site is duplicating content from the other site, so would I be better off with:
1) meta-refresh redirecting each typepad.com post to the same post on the new blog, or
2) just killing the typepad.com blog entirely so Google will not find duplicate posts anywhere.
In favor of #2 is the fact that these posts get very little traffic today. I figure I will lose more traffic from duplicate content ranking penalties than from losing the posts themselves in the original blog.
What do you think?

Thanks, that's helpful. Typepad.com, however, will not let you 301 redirect, which is why I was kind of thinking I should just kill the original blog.
But I will look into the Google Webmaster Tools solution. I was not aware of that.

Hello,
Please tell me if you were using Google Webmaster Tools for your old Typepad.com blog. If yes that is that solution, use the instructions in Google webmaster tools to moving/migrating your blog from old domain to new. For this you need a simple 301 domain redirect and that will solves the issue. Google will start indexing new domain content and it will convey google that old blog has been migrated to newer one, so you will not have duplicate content errors anymore (Note: it will take some time to google
I hope this will help you to solve your issue..

Moving from Blogspot to blog hosted on our domain
Hi there, I work for a furniture retailer in the UK and I have a question about moving our blog. We have had a blog at www.ourcompany.blogspot.co.uk since 2012 and it was last updated mid 2014. There are about 100 posts and the content is actually really good, not spammy in any way and not stuffed with links to our site. The content is essentially guides to buying the right furniture. We have now launched blog functionaility on our website at www.ourcompany.co.uk/blog as I feel this is a better long-term solution to increasing site traffic and page rank. I want to pick your brains on the best way to handle the old content. A: Copy all the Blogspot content across and back date it to the same date it was originally published and then delete the old Blogspot account? Or will Google see this as duplicate content. B: Backup all the Blogspot content now, delete the Blogspot account and then repost this content at a later date? Will this still be seen as duplicate content? 😄 something else. Thanks for reading.

Is Publishing Content from a Book to your Site Considered Duplicate Content?
It is a book we don't own, either. Would you need to somehow find the original and rel=canonical it? Or is this just all around bad to do? Thanks.

Content: Best Blogs Article
Hello, For an Ecommerce site, I think a good way to get known is to write a "Best X Blogs" article, where X is a topic in your industry, and then letting the people you link to know about the article. I got the idea from a Mozinar. My question is, how close does the X from above have to be in your niche? For example, if your product is running shoes can you write a "best athlete blogs" article? I'm worried about them reading the article, then leaving. In some smaller niches the topics closest to the product don't have much in the way of blogs out there. So how close to your niche does the Best X Blogs topic have to be?

Rel = Canonical in Blog Posting
Hello, I'm getting a lot of Seomoz warnings about rel=canonical issues. Is the code below ok to put on our (drupal website) blog? link rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/blog/my-awesome-blog-post"< (with the > reversed). Thanks!

Resolving duplicate text issues with a duplicate image?
We are a listing site for programs overseas. Many of our listings are inherently the same content, because in many cases the same exact information applies. We have resolved duplicate content issues to some extent by making some of the content in these listings unique. However, for the rest of the content which is going to be the same for about 100 pages, we were wondering if its better to have an image in place instead of duplicate text content (this would basically be an image of the text in question). We know this is a problem, because this is inherently duplicate content as well (only its a duplicate image instead of duplicate text). However, what's the best solution to this problem, and is a duplicate image just asking for trouble, or might this actually be a good idea?

Old articles in a blog
Hi, I would like to know your opinion about old article obsolete in a blog. Do you think it's preferable to totally delete them from Wordpress CMS? Considering the fact that Panda update measures "Bouncing Rate", "Time on site", and all that? Thanks for your opinion and advice! (Sorry if my english is not perfect, 2nd language 😉 )

How to Integrate a Wordpress Blog into my Website
We are looking at integrating a blog into our website. Unfortunately, our content management system is very clunky and not set up to quickly publish blog style content. I'd like to use Wordpress and set up the blog as a subdomain of my company website. Our URL is www.blockandcompany.com so the blog URL would be www.blog.blockandcompany.com. Is it correct to say that if the blog is set up this way, the search engines will see the regular website and the Wordpress hosted blog as one big site? I want to use the blog to write keyword-rich content, but I don't want to divide my SEO "equity" between two separate sites. Any advice?
