Website Updates, will this affect my ranking/ DA or PA?
-
Hello All!
My website is due for a big update soon, my current site is doing ok, however I want to update all of the content, structure, style and look of my whole site.
I feel that with the way it's been going lately that it's time for an upgrade, my question is, will this affect my ranking?
Will my page ranking's be affected?
Will my DA be affected?
I intend to optimize this new website perfectly too with all the things I've learnt since joining this forum.
All the best,
Paul

hello paul.
Full website update effects rankings thats for sure.
But the question is will the effect be positive or negative. I re-designed my website 8 months back. and made some mistakes in the code section.. well i was trying to be a ninja and converted it to html5/css3..
yes my rankings + pr dropped .
on the other hand my rankings improved on a diffferent project of mine where i optimized my site in a better way like reduced loading time, no code/validation errors. Better focused and related content. Improved titles etc.
So you will have to consider multiple things before you go in such a huge update.

Is this spammy/panda problem?
We have a property site and have many area pages with listings of properties. For example, one page may have up to 30 properties listed, with 100 words of description on that listing page for that property and then you click 'more info' to get to the page of that property with maybe 200 words in total. I want to add bullet points for each property on the area page but Im worried that it may be seen by google as spammy even though its usefull to the client. For example, if I had 30 properties on a page, and 28 of them said next to each picture.. Property Type: Shared, Open Plan, Single Bed Would that be a problem for google?

Website removed from Bing and Yahoo index
Hi, are website servicemanualrepairs.com was removed from Bing and Yahoo index, I emailed Bing via Webmaster tools they first said it was Backlinks I did look via at the inbound links tool to analyze the site's Backlinks I did find 20 links and used the Disavow tool, they said "I'm afraid but after careful and thorough investigation, your site still did not meet the Bing and Microsoft guidelines You may also refer to the things to avoid section of the Webmaster Guidelines for additional information. As an effect, the site is still blocked and it cannot be lifted" the website was in Bing and Yahoo index for 3 Years and only after the 20 Backlinks were added to the site it was de-index any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Spaces at beginning of title tag - negatively affect the optimization of the page?
For some reason, our title tags have a long space after the beginning title tag and before the text appears. The beginning title tag is on one line, then a break, a tab and then the content of the title tag. I'm pretty sure this is not good and is affecting optimization of the page. Am I correct or is this not an issue and does not need to be fixed? Example: | <title></span></p> <p> </p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td class="line-number"> </td> <td class="line-content"> First keyword</td> </tr> </tbody> </table></title> |

Ranking for competitive keywords
Hi Folks, I am relatively new to SEO and I was hoping folks here could give me some guidance/tips on ranking in a competitive keyword space. My client is a health care provider and they wish to rank for terms like 'heart attack' which I believe will be quite difficult due to it being a short tail keyword and it is a very competitive space. Any an all advice and input is greatly appreciated. Regards, Dave

Any advice for best practice for mobile versions of websites?
Hi Mozzers, I am looking to develop a mobile version of one of my sites and was wondering what was considered best practice for the following: Where to host it: m.domain.com or domain.com/mobile ? Is rel='canonical' enough to avoid mobile version being indexed or should I use "noindex" on mobile version? How to handle tablets? Which screen size sees mobile version? Which sees full site version? Thanks in advance Geoff
