Old Site But No Traffic - Can Anyone Tell Reason ?
-
Hi ,
Can anyone please tell me why this site http://www.travelscience.com is not getting any traffic?
Its 13 years old domain having 2340 indexed pages and Its Alexa rank is 6186158
Can anyone please identity the problems with it.
I found it from Google doing the keyword research on the Travel topics.
I am curious to know the potential problem with this site.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Please post this as a new question. I won't have time to analyze it myself, but if it's a private question, one of the other experts will take a look in the next week or so.

It doesn't look like it's penalized, and looking at its anchor text on backlinks, it doesn't look like it's running any risks there.
It does rank #1 for its domain name. I see over 12,000 pages on it, with only a handful of broken links. But that's probably an indication that the content on most pages isn't very unique, or be well interlinked, since Google is only indexing maybe 20% of the site.
It has a very, very weak link profile (only 14 domains linking), and it's in a very competitive space.
Some problems with the site:
- it seems to be a complete duplicate of http://www.explorelanguages.com/ (which it links to)
- what should be its homepage header link (top left) actually links to http://travelscience.com/Framesets/About/About_Travel_Science_frameset.htm, which is very strange
- it's got the multiple subdomain problem as well
So its lack of traffic is combination of a bunch of little SEO mistakes and a really weak link profile--that's all.

Can a page be 100% topically relevant to a search query?
Today's YouMoz post, Accidental SEO Tests: When On-Page Optimization Ceases to Matter, explores the theory that there is an on-page optimization saturation point, "beyond which further on-page optimization no longer improves your ability to rank" for the keywords/keyword topics you are targeting. In other words, you can optimize your page for search to the point that it is 100% topically relevant to query and intent. Do you believe there exists such a thing as a page that is 100% topically relevant? What are your thoughts regarding there being an on-page optimization saturation point, beyond which further on-page optimization no longer improves your ability to rank? Let's discuss!

A web audit for web traffic? Need answers please..
Hi, We are a PR agency based in Dubai and we produce a lot of web content. The website is build on ruby on rails and we have implemented keywords and SEO strategies but sadly the traffic pattern has not changed since the past three years. What surprised us today that we created a page 2-3 days ago for a client who is participating in Arab Health (a very prestigious healthcare event) and suddenly our page comes on top 3 on google.ae as well as google.com We are kind of convinced that there is something wrong with our code.. Do you think this could be a possibility? and the lack of change in the traffic pattern might not be an SEO issue but a code issue? What could be the possible reasons for this pattern? In such a scenario what would experts like you recommend we do? Do a SEO Audit? Web audit? code audit? hire a seo/ web / code consultant? Thanks - helpful answers are really appreciated and just btw if anyone feels they could professionally help us out of this mess, we are willing to work with him/her. Thanks in advance

Website traffic dropped 50% after 14th November same day GWT reported a DNS error
HI there. On 14th November GWT reported a DNS error on my site I checked with my hosts but they said there was nothing wrong. I then went searching for answers and found it happened to lot of people on that specific day see http://moz.com/blog/was-there-a-november-14th-google-update. After that time my website traffic dropped by 50% over the period of a week and is still sitting on 50% of what it was. I then moved the site to VPS, had a few DNS errors - that were the cause of my hosts - so i moved back to shared hosting last weekend and now DNS issues are solved. However the original DNS issue is still unknown I dont know what went wrong and want to rectify issue. I dont sell ads and write original content 4 times a day. I have a miniscule bounce rate, my site speed is okay and i dont stuff keywords in my content although i was careless with my <alt tags="">so they could be considered keyword stuffing (and i have up to 10 images on one post). But i have been removing all the keywords in my images theres over 3000 posts so its taking time). My impressions have dropped from 10,000 a day to 2,500 and I have no idea why.</alt> My website has been building traffic consistently for the last 2 years. Only now has it crashed a bit. Have you any advice on what I can do to solve this problem or rather find the cause of the issue. Im not a pro seo person and do this blog in my free time so am not an expert on data analyzing etc.... thanks alot

[G Penalty?] Significant Traffic Drop From All Sources
My client's traffic started to significantly decrease around Nov 21 (Panda update 22). This includes traffic from all sources - search engines (G, B, & Y!), direct, AND referral. At first we thought it was a G penalty but G answered our reconsideration request by stating that no manual penalty had occured. It could be algo penalty, but again, the site has been hit across all sources. Client has done zero backlinking - it is all natural. No Spam, etc.. All of his on-site SEO is perfect (700+ pages indexed, all unique content, unique title and desc). On Oct 16, he switched from his old URL to a new URL and did proper redirects. (Last year - Dec 2011 - he switched his CMS to Drupal and although there was a temporary decrease in traffic, it showed recovery within a month or so.) He does zero social on his site and he has many ads above the fold. Nevertheless, the traffic decrease is not source specific. In other words, all sources have decreased since Nov 21, 2012 and have not recovered. What is going on? What can be the explanation for decrease in traffic across all sources? This would be easy to answer if it was only Google Organic decrease but since direct and referral have also been hit, we cannot locate the problem. Please share your personal experiences as well as advice on where we should look. Could this be negative SEO? Where would we look? ANY ADVICE IS WELCOME !!!! Every bit counts Thanks!!

Why did my traffic from USA decline so much?
Our website (http://www.golfbutler.com) has been running since April 2010. For the first year or so, traffic from the USA counted for more than 70% of the total traffic. Then for about 6-9 months the traffic incoming from the USA slowly declined to 40-50%. For the last 2-3 months the USA traffic further reduced to about 5% of the total traffic. All the while our content focus did not change much. It is still heavily targeting USA. All in all our traffic did not change much, other countries picked up the pace, particularly Canada. We are located in Canada but our server is hosted in the USA. Anybody has an idea why our USA traffic has declined so much? Since 50% of all golfers are in USA, I would expect at least 50% of our traffic coming from there. We do not run any online advertizing so this cannot be the issue. Thanks!

High ranking for high volume keyword, but low traffic
We are ranked, according to Moz (and we've tested to back it up) #3 on Google UK for the keyword "Hire a Jet". According to Google, this keyword gets 22,500 local searches per month. Yet we get about 5 hits a month for that keyword. Any ideas why this is so low? It just doesn't add up or make sense whatsoever.
