Pricing - Include Shipping and Handling?
-
A few questions:
-
From a conversion standpoint, is it better to include S&H costs into the listed price or not? Example: I have a product with an MSRP of $9.99, but we sell directly from our site at "$11.99 with free shipping". Would it be better to list it at "$9.99 + $2.00 S&H"? Or maybe not even include the S&H cost? Any insight is much appreciated.
-
Should price be directly on the homepage? A user must go to our products page to find the price, but I'm thinking maybe it's best to be explicit on the homepage. However, as I am not well versed in all facets of CRO, I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I would definitely include free shipping on all your items and promote this heavily on your homepage (along with the price).
Here's two articles (old data I know) I found from one of my favourite ecommerce blogs:
- http://www.getelastic.com/promote-free-shipping/
Bottom line is this is something you should really test and do significant research on, but I think most people would agree that you should go down this path.

With E-commerce sites it really matters on the product you are selling. As you explained and what i understood there is 6 different products you are selling or 1 product 6 different styles or prints.
So to begin a basic few questions.
1. Do you manufacture this product.
2. Do other people sell this product and at what costs ( your resellers or if your a reseller )
I have always found it helpful, that FREE SHIPPING is king. Most customer dont care about anything else sometimes and i have tones of stats and A/B testing to prove my case here .
What i have found helpful specially if someone is reselling the product is to stay at or under the MSRP & offer free shipping and then cover my ass different ways.
- Offer faster shipping server for above and beyond my cost. 2nd day air $15 Overnight $19
* Offer gift wrapping and gift card services for a small charge $1 to $4 bucks
- Offer upselling by including another product for X amount more
I mean you can get creative.
and if you do free shipping make sure you ADVERTISE that with a HUGE BANNER. Remember most people take 8 seconds when they visit your page whether to stay or leave. Make sure your call to action and message are loud and clear with no other distractions around it.
I would highly recommend going through the checkout process of some of your competitors and see what they are doing. You can always copy them or reverse engineer the process. There is nothing wrong with that .
As for the pricing YES on the homepage since its 1 item if you have more than 10 items ( then no room ).
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,

1. ) I would include the S&H in the price. People don't like "paying" for shipping. You might also consider having a coupon code for free shipping instead.
2.) Price should be on the homepage.
3.) You might find the ConversionXL blog very useful.

Brad,
Thanks for the response. I sell an animal baby bottle cover that comes in six variations (six animals). They're all priced equally.
I personally like final price when I'm shopping online, so that's why I'm inclined to include the price w/ S&H. But I'm wondering if there's any research on this topic.

Hi,
Does your site sell 1 product or a lot of different products? Just trying to understand your site better in order to answer your questions.
If it's only 1 product, you could strongly consider adding the price to your homepage, but again that would be on a case-by-case basis.
If it sells a lot of products I'd ALWAYS make it very clear to the customer exactly how much the final cost will be. It's hard to tell exactly what would work better for your site, a set price plus shipping or a slightly higher set price with free shipping. This would be a great thing to test on your site!
Anyway, a little more info and I'm happy to help:)

Issue for Sales Team & Funnelling Smaller Orders
Hi, Hoping somebody might have some suggestions for funnelling smaller orders and larger orders on different journeys. Basically, 90% of our business comes from 10% of customers with larger orders, like contractors and organisations who fill out leads or call us. But about 90% of the sales teams time is taken up from handling lots of smaller calls, which account for <5% of our revenue. Obviously we still want these smaller orders, but would anyone have any suggestions on moving these customers away from phone calls? We've tried to add as much content to the site as possible to answer they're questions, but they seem to just call anyway. Hope you can help!

Redirect Management on Headless Wordpress w/ React Front End
Hello everyone, As Headless Wordpress becomes more and more popular, it becomes more complicated to manage and track 301 redirects. I'm reaching out for advice on this. Our main issue right now, is that after migrating from Drupal to a Headless Wordpress/React platform we lost the ability to track, manage, and view traffic analytics for users hitting those redirects. This was something we were able to do in Drupal. Example: If we have a redirect in place we could see how many times in the past x number of days that redirect was hit by users attempting to access the old URL. Unfortunately, Yoast Premium, has been helpful with other SEO needs, but this is one that it is not able to manage. Anyone have any ideas, experience, or thoughts on this issue? Thanks for your time

Reducing Negative Impact of Webpage Login Form
Our real estate website (www.metro-manhattan.com) now requires visitors to login in if they want to search our listing database. The result is that. 9 out of 10 visitors leave without searching; they simply refuse to set up an account. I have attached images of the search bar and login form. Is there a way to increase the percentage of visitors that login? We have tried to make it as simple as possible, allowing visitors to login by Facebook, Google or by providing their email address. We do not send any verification email. We are forced to. keep this login unfortunately. But is there anything we can do to reduce the visitor bounce rate? Thanks,

Best to Include Phone Number as CTA Button in Mobile Version of B+B Web Site?
We are attempting to keep the number of CTAs (Calls to Action) on our commercial real estate website to a minimum. Our adjusted design (see attached) has 2 CTAs. One is "Contact Agent" the other is "Schedule a Tour". We are focusing on the listing page, which is the primary product page and critical in terms of CTA. Our mobile version does not show a phone number while the desktop version (also attached) displays a phone number. Should the mobile version also display a button a phone number? Some members of our target audiences, business owners and executives who are often in their 40s and 50s may prefer to call us up rather than communicate by written message. Any suggestions for elegantly displaying the phone number without causing confusion? I have read that the number of CTAs should be limited so I am on the fence as to whether or not to include a phone number Thanks,

How to test unconditional free shipping?
Hi everyone, I am considering a switch to offering unconditional free shipping. By this I mean no minimums or contingencies. Before I do this I would like to be able to test the concept for a period of time, or for a section of my audience before fully committing. The issue is it will take a lot of time and $$$ to convert the website to market the free shipping properly. I have thought about using a promo code but I am not sure that will give a proper sample due to people getting confused. Has anyone seen how to test this concept? Thanks!
