Does anyone know the impact of Parallax scrolling from a SEO prospective?

Hi Devanur
Thank you for responding to my question. Our project is almost done and I would like to show it to you before publishing. Let me know if you are interested.
I truelly think we accomplished both.

Hi Carla,
Thanks for stopping by and asking a question. While there are many great websites that implemented parallax scrolling, only few of them were able to strike a balance between both, SEO and UX. Please accept my sincere apology for not being able to name them here for many obvious reasons. However, let me tell you few things about your project at hand. If your website is not in to creative niches like, design (can be website design also), art, e-commerce (catalogue websites), studio etc..
1. you should be giving more emphasis to the quality of the content and its size on the homepage especially if you want to rank for any keyword /phrase using with your homepage.
2. Good content of about 600 words should be great with a keyword density of around 1% (this is excluding the keyword presence in other indexable content on the page like the meta information, heading tags, image alt text, image titles).
3. Good code to text ratio, though this is not a hard and fast rule. Personally, I like it to be around 25%.
4. Sizeable content in the first fold and this does not mean to dump all your content in the first fold.
5. Other on-page SEO factors.
If you are into the creative niche, you can lean a bit more towards the UX side.
Hope the above help and again please accept my apology if my response has not lived up to your expectation.
I wish you all the very best for your up-coming project.
Best regards,
Devanur Rafi.

Hi Devanur,
We are about to re-do our site with SEO and Parallax. Can you recommend any great sites that use both methods?
Thanks
Carla

Hi there,
Technically, with parallax scrolling, you are dealing with a single page. Ideally, from an SEO stand point, it is highly recommended to target one keyword /phrase per page. So if you are targeting one keyword with your parallax scrolling page, provided you have good content on it, then you are good. Especially after the page layout algorithm from Google, it is good to have sizeable content in the top fold. This holds good for any type of websites.
There is no doubt that with a technique like parallax scrolling you will definitely grab a lot of attention and love from your visitors, in fact this can heighten the site engagement times to a great extent. So the user experience is taken care of as long as the page serves the purpose of its visitors. So SEO is all about striking a balance between pleasing the visitors and search engines. You can take care of finicky search engine spiders by giving them what they love and that is great content with right keywords taking the right places on the page.
As far as SEO is concerned, targeting multiple keywords /phrases on a page leads to keyword dilution and we should ideally target a single keyword /phrase per page.
Best regards,
Devanur Rafi.

# Tag - opacity and SEO impact
Hello,

I have a query animation 'fade-in-up' on my website: tiffanybarnard.com which moves the H1 tag slightly and fades it in from zero opacity to 1. Will this affect the SEO value of the H1 tag?

One-Pager and SEO
We're building a page that is going to feature over 31 people as difference makers in their field. We're unveiling one a day for an entire month. The very early mockup of the page has name, pic, some bio info, and a link to open up a new window with the full bio. I would love to have all of the bio content for all of the people on the page (and indexable), but I'm not sure how to do that while still being able to hide the full bios until they are expanded. Anybody have any tips that are SEO-friendly and/or examples of a page that is built like this and ranks well. Thanks!

Http & https canonicalization issues
Howdyho I'm SEOing a daily deals site that mostly runs on https Versions. (only the home page is on http). I'm wondering what to do for canonicalization. IMO it would be easiest to run all pages on https. But the scarce resources I find are not so clear. For instance, this Youmoz blog post claims that https is only for humans, not for bots! That doesn't really apply anymore, right?

302 Redirects & WordPress
Hi Mozzers- We started a WordPress blog for one of my clients to help improve the domain authority, increase visits, etc. a few months ago. I ran a crawl report a few days ago and noticed that the /trackback/ pages are getting redirected to the appropriate page using a 302 redirect not a 301 redirect. I've search through the forum looking for other similar questions and found one. The answer suggested that I use the TAC plugin and check for any malicious code. I did this and found nothing. Another response suggested using the Redirection plugin. I haven't tried this yet. Has anyone encountered this and if so, how did you deal with it. Thank you! LHC

Advertising and negative impact on SEO
On one of my sites, I've been trying to get the word out by contacting blogs and asking them to share my site with their readers. This has resulted in some free publicity for my site, as well as quite a few paid reviews/sponsored posts. Note, however, that I've never paid for links, just reviews of my site... When I started this about 2 months ago, my site was a PR3 and getting fairly lowsy organic search traffic (i.e. 30-40 visits a day from Google). Then a few days ago, my PR dropped to 1. I didn't worry too much though, because my organic traffic was still around 30-40 visits a day. Now today, I checked and I only had 1 visitor the entire day from Google. Obviously I've been penalized. My most important question is, what can I do? Do I have an recourse, or do I need to just shut the domain down and move elsewhere? Second, wtf is Google penalizing this? I understand the argument against paid links, but should I not be allowed to advertise my site? Apparently I can buy links all day long through Google and they'll happily take my money, but the minute I pay some poor blogger to write an article about my site to their audience, I get penalized? Please help, I can't believe I just destroyed one of my sites like this!

What is the best website structure for SEO?
I've been on SEOmoz for about 1 month now and everyone says that depending on the type of business you should build up your website structure for SEO as 1st step. I have a new client click here ( www version doesn't work)... some bugs we are fixing it now. We are almost finished with the design & layout. 2nd question have been running though my head. 1. What would the best url category for the shop be /products/ - current url cat ex: /products/door-handles.html 2. What would you use for the main menu as section for getting the most out of SEO. Personally i am thinking of making 2-3 main categories on the left a section where i can add content to it (3-4 paragraphs... images maybe a video). So the main page focuses on the domain name more and the rest of the sections would focus on specific keywords, this why I avoid cannibalization. Main keyword target is "door handles" Any suggestions would be appreciated.
