Onpage SEO before Offpage?

Hi there,
I want to ask why should a website first have Onpage optimization and after that Offpage optimization or Link building/earning? I have read that this is better, even obligatory in many articles but I am not sure for the reason and benefits of that.
Can at least social media optimization start at the same time or at the middle of the Onpage optimization?

I agree with Matthew. However, I suppose it would depend on what your current site is like. If you can get your google + or facebook campaign rolling now without much effort then go for it, but if you are starting the whole process from the beginning, then on page is where you need to be first.

On-page optimisation is the critical first step, and I always make sure I get this completed before I do any more.
To use an analogy: you wouldn't advertise a store without having a premises, and stock, and staff. Likewise, you don't do off-page optimisation until you're sure that what you're directing people to is the best it can be.

Lost SEO contract, new SEO wants us to do the following - can you explain why?
1. Make prokem.co.uk the master domain rather than prokem-corrosion-protection.com 2. Ensure each http URL is 301 redirected to its https counterpart via htaccess rather than in plesk 3. 301 redirect each www.prokem-corrosion-protection.com URL to its co.uk counterpart via htaccess. Looking for a few hours of consult from an on-page/redirection SEO guru.
Hi! I could post our question here, but I think we will need an hour or so of questions and answers. Anyone consider themselves an on-page guru or redirection strategy guru? Here is the breakdown: 1. We sell digital media. 2. Most of the pages that return for us in the serps are indexed Search Results pages. From the research we have done, these are our highest trafficked results, but also our lowest converters. We have hundreds of thousands of indexed and dynamic Search Result pages we need to deal with. 3. We are concerned about Panda eventually giving us issues with these indexed Search Pages. 4. We would like to 301 re-direct these indexed Search Results pages to applicable product pages. 5. Looking for advice on a strategy to do so which would include the best way to locate the pages we need to 301 in the SERPS, being careful that the 301 will help and not harm us, etc. Note, we are just looking for a couple of hours of discussion and guidance. We don't need a massive SEO analysis or anything. Just looking for input and guidance on this one particular issue. SEOmoz and Wordpress SEO plugin
I made a lot of changes with Wordpress SEO by Yoast before I signed up with SEOmoz. But SEOmoz doesn't seem to see those changes. I am still being told I have multiple meta descriptions. I don't know why but SEOmoz is seeing the default meta description and not the one I wrote using the Yoast plugin. How can I get SEOmoz to see those changes? Edit: Google has not updated all the changes I made with Wordpress SEO.

Does Channeladvisor really assist in SEO?
I'm getting emails from Channeladvisor recommending I join, thereby taking advantage of a change to Google Shopping. It is starting in Australia from today (13Feb13). Is it an upgraded version of Google Adwords, or another form of a Commerce Merchant (obviously with multiple channels,e.g. Ebay, Amazon etc)? With Adwords, I found it too expensive for the type of product we sell (printer cartridges). But the real question is, DO MY RANKINGS DROP FROM NOT USING CHANNEL ADVISOR?

Developer comments in code & SEO
A client of mine has provided an SEO report that states:- "The inclusion of comments by developers in the coe is common practice..... ....its is not positive to leave large blocks of code in the site as makes crawling difficult to crawl" Im thinking that this has no SEO import at all, any one come across this?
