SEO questions

Hi SEOmoz Friends, good day!
I am hoping we could these following questions:
Why we had 1000+ errors; consist of diff errors (page duplicate title, missing meta desc, too many links, title element too long,404 errors, redirect errors)
while raven tools have only 100+ errors which is meta desc error
Are those 1000+ errors from moztool are really significant?
How to fix each of the error and what will be the result?
we tried some way
Meta Desc - provided meta desc
404 error - provide live links
dup page title - change the other page's title - will it affect the seo ranking of the page? we believe its yes, so is it necessry to fix the error?
title element too long - we understand that some of the pages have too long title, to fix the error we need to change the title to shorter ones, but we are afraid if it will affect the seo ranking, just like the previous q
too many links - we understand that these links are from the submission we made previously, how will we fix this error?
Whats the recommended number of blog posts per page?
Hoping to get answers from the experts! Thanks

Hi Robin, before I provide my answers to your specific questions. I should point out there is a difference between SEOMoz.org's warnings and errors. In most all cases an error should be fixed. In case of a warning it is not necessarily something that has to be fixed, but a baseline understanding in the problem should be understood and if needed addressed.
Meta Desc - provided meta desc (Warning)
- To fix this you simply need to review the page and if appropriate add a meta description. Note because this is a warning your page may not necessarly need a meta description. But with that in mind it maybe likely that the page itself has no SEO value so maybe safely blocked by using robots.txt.
404 error - provide live links (ERROR)
- To fix this problem click on the error warning and review what pages are creating links that link to a page that does not exist. Then remove the link from your page.
dup page title - (Error)
change the other page's title - will it affect the seo ranking of the page?- You should not have 2 pages with the same title the most important of the 2 pages should be granted the use of said title. The other page's content if not enough to warrant its own page could be added to the main page, or change the title to something more appropriate for the page's content (re-write the content if needed).
we believe its yes, so is it necessry to fix the error?
- Yes see above
title element too long - we understand that some of the pages have too long title, to fix the error we need to change the title to shorter ones, but we are afraid if it will affect the seo ranking, just like the previous q (Warning).
- This is a warning you should mainly note anything over 70 characters will be ignored. While it won't necessarily hurt your page's SEO. Anything over 70 characters is being ignored which can leave un-attended titles.
too many links - we understand that these links are from the submission we made previously, how will we fix this error? (Warning)

This one goes way back, in the early days crawlers could not crawl pages with a ton of links so it was recommended early on to limit your number to 100, since then crawlers have been updated and can certainly and will crawl more then 100 links per page. However, the down side to having a ton of links on your page is you dilute the link value of the every link on the page. So if you're linking to pages that have little to no SEO value you are essentially leaking link juice you could be using to pass to higher value pages.
Lots of info there, I hope it helps,
Don

What impact does multiple links from the same c-block have on SEO?
Recently there's been a move made in my company to only allow backlinks from websites on different c-block IP addresses. The most links we have from one c-block is 15. There is a wide variety of other IP addresses linking to our site as well. My question is - do we need to be so restrictive with using websites from the same c-block as long as the neighbourhood is good and we're not linking sites with full identical IPs (matching d-block as well)?

Real Estate and Vacation Resorts SEO
I am assigned to a few vacation resort sites for SEO plus a Real Estate site. I was hoping to get few suggestions from people that have worked on those fields before. Like good web directories for link building or even some good sites that I should have in mind for comparing mine. Thanks in advance

A backlinks question
Hi all Could do with a second opinion on this one if anyone has a moment please. Recent Google updates have targeted overally optimised backlink profiles as they are clearly for seo purposes and not natural. The question I have is how does this relate to an ecommerce website? If I sell 'blue 1980 aged cheese' (I know nothing about cheese so perhaps not the best example!!) and I have a url on my shop domain.com/store/blue-1980-aged-cheese with the product name as the page title along with the domain name. If I were to get backlinks pointing to this page using the anchor of 'blue 1980 aged cheese' (and other variations of that, blue cheese, aged blue cheese etc) would this be considered to be too optimised? Given the page is about this item then surely it could be considered natural that people link using the product name, as well as using the site name and the domain url Any thoughts please Thanks, Carl

Forgot the name of a cool SEO Tool... Help!
I recently discovered a cool SEO tool. I didn't write it down, save it, bookmark, etc... And now I can't remember the name of the tool for the life of me, but I'd really like to use it again. I was hoping I could list of the features that I remember, and one of you Mozzers know what I'm talking about. It was a backlink analysis tool. It had a free version, and after you performed so many searches/searched so many backlinks, you had to pay. From what I remember it was a fairly nominal fee with the most popular package in around $25. The reason that I liked it so much was you could take an OSE csv file, dump it in there, and it would sort all of the links by link type, i.e, footer, comment, directory, etc... Then it would put it all into a nice pie chart for you and show you the % of the total links that each link type made up. It would also analyze the anchor text and would show you every anchor text used, and the % of the total each one made up.

Sites Ranked Again - Post Penguin SEO Help
Got destroyed by Penguin because of questionable links. I had most of the links removed and my sites have been restored for the most part - though lower than they previously ranking for keywords. What is the best SEO strategy to move up in rank? Link Building strategy? Is there a penalty for domains that have keywords in them?

Remove Unatural Links by SEO Co.
The SEO firm we hired built 2797 links with 123 domain within two month period (March and April) when we don't know better. We received Google's warning on 3/28, and they didn't tell us anything but keep building. Well, that's history now. We learned our lesson. That's why we are a member of SEOmoz. The SEO firm is not too keen on helping us remove the link (we've discontinue the service) after one initial attempt to a few site with tons of links (performed by their Indian team). I've got advice from this Forum regarding link removal. The most suggestions we get is to remove it as many as possible and move on building good links. But, I am afraid such approach will take us years to come ahead as we are under staffed. I saw here that someone mentioned their link building firm wants to charge $10 for links removed. Based on that idea, I wonder if I should offer some monetary incentive? If so, what amount would make financial sense?

Is it worth editing older blog posts for SEO purposes?
The title of the question asks it all. One site I currently work on has a handful of blog posts that rank really well in the SERPS for certain "long-tail" searches. Would it be worth the time to, when I have it, to go back and edit the blogs little by little to help with SEO and building some links throughout the site to get people where we need them to go? Basically "sprucing" up the blog posts to make them more readable, more engaging and help some link building efforts within the domain. Thoughts?
