If a page is optimized for certain search terms that have "nyc" at the end of them, will that help the page appear when someone in NYC searches for the terms without the "nyc" part?

If the type of products or services offered are most likely to be known from a search intent perspective as being geo-location relevant, the answer is yes, this can help, but only to the extent that the content is truly optimized for that geo-location relationship. Just slapping "NYC" into a Title, and maybe on the page itself isn't necessarily enough - so you'd want to be sure to recognize that fact.

Are three Adsense ads on a long page a negative for search ranking?

I've not a site whose home page that is #1 for a popular keyword. The page is 1200 words, plus comments following. It's a clean page with no popups, and has one large rectangle Adsense ad above the fold (lots of text around this ad, and a very high percentage of page ATF is text), and another large rectangle Adsense ad that is midway down the article (after you have to page twice to get there). So, it's a very low ad to text ratio and ATF looks very clean. I have room for one more Adsense ad closer to the bottom of the article, which would be about five page downs through the page. My question is, will placing another ad way down the page affect my ranking in any negative way? I'm so pleased with my #1 ranking I hesitate to add it. But the page converts in Adsense so well, and heat maps show a large number readers do read all the way down the page, so I'd like to pick up some more ad revenue.

Infinite Scrolling in On-Page Search Results

We have a website being built that will effectively function like an e-commerce site. When customers search within the site, we will display the results (sometimes hundreds). We were thinking of implementing infinite scrolling, but with so many results which all function as links to product pages, would this look funny i.e. having too many onpage links? Would the links at the bottom pretty much just be ignored (which is fine) or would they bring disrepute to the results further toward the top of the page? Thanks!

Ecommerce internal search results pages

I'm working on a ecommerce site that allows product search results pages to be sorted a variety of ways (best selling, newest, by price). Each of these search filters creates a new url i.e. /all/best/1 and /all/best/2; /all/new/1 and /all/new/2; etc. These search results pages have been indexed and the site is receiving enough organic traffic from these pages that I don't want to add noindex,follow to them. I am planning on implementing rel=prev,rel=next for each filter, but I'm concerned about duplicate content considering I can't create unique meta data for each page. Should I canonical all pages to the first search results page without filters applied? Or any other ideas on how I should proceed?

I am sort of mystified at this . I have a homepage and it is for all intents and purposes optimized for the search term Charlotte electrician . If you type in Charlotte electrician I have no organic listing for this page . It does receive an A on the tool on this Site for the term target Charlotte electrician . Here is the URL http://www.providenceelectricnc.com/ now the strange thing is that for the search term electrician Charlotte the tool on SEO Moz gives me an F grade **as I would expect but I am the number one organic listing under electrician Charlotte . This is truly confusing to me it may have something to do with links but I don't see how at all . Thanks I've been studying search engine optimization and web development for about five years and appreciate any suggestion . this is a Joomla! site and I am running a lot of components and plug-ins . How could I avoid the "Duplicate Page Content" issue on the search result pages of a webshop site?

My webshop site was just crawled by Roger, and it found 683 "Duplicate Page Content" issues. Most of them are result pages of different product searches, that are not really identical, but very similar to each other. Do I have to worry about this? If yes, how could I make the search result pages different? IS there any solution for this? Thanks: Zoltan
