Provide valuable and unique content on a regular basis. For example, if your business is home cleaning--create some articles on how to clean stubborn stains in a kitchen sink (focus on long-tails). This will help build up your traffic and increase inbound links to increase rankings.

I agree with the previous poster. SEO is a long winded and tough nut to crack - you either need to do it yourself or you need to outsource it to a professional SEO.
If you have made the decision to do it yourself, you need to learn how to do what SEOs do and that means starting at the beginning and learning from the ground upwards.
There is no one answer to your question, it's just a steep learning curve from the moment you accept taking it on yourself.
That said you are very much in the right place for learning how to do it properly. The only advice I would give is to do everything with caution and make sure your understand the actions you are taking for your site so you don;t end up getting penalised by not understanding the consequences.

Earlier this week I received a call from a very pleasant women named Martha. Her son owns a small site dedicated to his work as a pianist (can see the site here). They are having issues gaining traction in Google, they are not tech/search savvy and are looking for SEO help. They really do not have much to spend so partnering with an agency or hiring an SEO is not really an option. The part that is eating me up is the fact that Martha recently lost her husband and that left both of them in a very tough spot emotionally and financially. They are trying to build up visibility for the site with the hopes of finding more work for her son to help support them. Frankly, the site needs a good amount of work. It is a small one-page squarespace website. New pages need to be created, the site needs to be optimized and backlinks need to be acquired. If anyone is willing or able to help, please let me know. I am trying to help them where I can (guidance for how to optimize, they provided me the squarespace login so I may start going in and making changes for them) but unfortunately I do not have the time to give this project the attention that it deserves. Even if it is something as small as throwing a link their way, it would be very much appreciated. It doesn't have to be SEO specific either, if you can help them on social I'm sure that would be appreciated as well. Again, I appreciate you taking the time to read this. Best practices to rank a new website that does not produce much content.
Hi What would be the best practice for ranking a new site .. lets say a business site that does not have a blog to produce regular content in it. Building backlinks are not just the options when these days people are all focused in content marketing. And specially, when you are competing against big competitors. Big competitors are of course getting their contents published on bigger sites since they are already established. No one will talk about you when you are new in the market. And you still need to bring up your site to people and SEO is the only option for that. What would you suggest ? Thanks

Auto Complete misspells our brand. Can we do anything about it?
Howdy! Let's say our French client's name is "Something Réseau". When we type in "Something" in Google, we're suggested "Something Réso" which sounds the same but is incorrect. In the past year, the correct name has sent +21,000 branded keywords visits, whereas the incorrect has sent shy of 800. The brand is not new. Anything we can do about it? Thanks!

Can i link my rel=publisher to a number of relevant microsites ?
We have linked our Google plus company profile to our main website and setup a rel=publisher authorship which appears and works fine in the SERPS as we regularly create Google plus posts about our industry and products. We also gain some good traffic through some of our smaller product specific micro sites so i wanted to setup our publisher markup for these also as some of our posts are relevant to these products. I setup the rel=publisher on one of these , but the Google snippet testing tool says that the rel publisher is unverified. Is this Google's way of saying i cannot use the same Google plus company profile across multiple sites My question is: Does Google not allow you to display the same Google plus rel publisher profile for multiple websites ? or is the there a problem with how i am marking up my micro sites ? has anybody tried this ?

Can I pick your brains for how to impliment this bit of #RCS?
I'm looking to do a bit of #RCS so I thought we would sponsor an animal from the Woodstock Farm and Animal Sanctuary, which is less than a mile down the road from our business. Here's the sponsorship page. http://woodstocksanctuary.org/join/sponsor-an-animal/ I figure we can post pictures of the animal, blog about it's story and what it's up to that month, and people will find it interesting. The real meat of this will be getting more 'likes' perhaps, or more social shares, maybe? I'm not exactly sure what to do here. Should we do something like: the person who shares/tweets our story the most will get an animal sponsorship in his /her name? Or for every new 250 likes we'll sponsor one additional animal? If we can get to 1000 Facebook likes we'll do "The Sanctuary Seven" where we'll sponsor one of each animal? (you can see that info on the page as well).
