Does Google Places reward unique icons for multi location businesses?

I work for a company that has over 100 physical locations. We are working to update our Google Place icon. My question is, do we get any seo benefit having a unique icon for each location, or no benefit and its better to focus on having a the best single icon possible. Note, we are going to add unique images in each place listing, this is specifically referring to the main icon shown on Google results.

It's important to have every physical location represented in Google Places. Ideally you should have a corresponding page on your site for each of those locations as well, that can be navigated to from your site home page through standard HTML links internal to the site (not through javascript or AJAX, etc).
You should submit a separate google place entry for each - use the bulk submission process. Each should have it's own local phone number and each should be given maximum Google Places optimization treatment. The title for each should all match your business name though - don't try and get a unique title in each individual location's places entry.
The more actual locations you do this with, the more likely you will come up in exponentially more local searches.
Don't forget to follow this up with submitting them all to YP.com, SuperPages.com, Yahoo Local, Bing Local, etc.

I have never tried to measure this. But following traditional SEO rules, you have to name your images properly if you want them to rank. Therefore, having keywords in the file name could potentially help. It certainly isn't going to hurt. But the benefit for you place rank, if any,is going to be miniscule.
Never measured it because I stick to the same patterns when something works. I name my images uniquely.

Hey everyone, I run a website that publish articles about pets. I have read some great things about Google Discover and the potential traffic it can bring to publishers (Condé Nast reported up to 20% of traffic coming from Discover in the US, at a certain point). I am currently trying to get indexed and after reading Google guidelines and a Ahrefs guide, I have made many optimizations to my site: structured data, creating an author page, fixing image size and publishing date... so far, it's not working. Silo Structure in the eye of google?
does silo structure has a positive point on Google Ranking or not, and what is the importance of internal linking, how google see the internal linking content as compared to less internal linking, I'm trying an experiment I do a lot of internal backlinking in Website Unionwell as compared to Website B (which has apparently less internal Links) so with your experience in SEO field which site will get traffic rapidly.

Manual Webspam Error by Google!
Hi,back in June 2013, our company received a notice of unnatural links which resulted in 'a manual spam action' from Google.A reconsideration request was filed a week later which received the following response from Google:_'We reviewed your site and found no manual actions by the webspam team that might affect your site's ranking in Google. There's no need to file a reconsideration request for your site, because any ranking issues you may be experiencing are not related to a manual action taken by the webspam team.'_Naturally we are confused by what seems to be an error in Google's communication.We are also left questioning whether it was necessary to remove the links Google stated were unnatural.Since the notice was received, we have struggled to recover traffic even after implementing Google best practices. Penalty from Google due to spam that was not our doing
Hi, My company has enjoyed pretty good rankings for our main keywords in Google for the past 13+ years we have been in business. We have always been very white-hat about our SEO -- always erring on the side of not doing anything rather than risking a penalty. Well, last Thursday, we received the dreaded Google penalty due to a pattern of unnatural links. The hit is devastating - we are not even in the top 50 for our own company name anymore. Through research, we believe we have found the culprit -- and it has nothing to do with any of our own actions. We operate a discussion forum, and there was a link to one of the threads that was being used as the target for a lot of link spam -- Chinese blog comments, etc. We had nothing to do with this, but obviously someone had an agenda and was working on spamming to this page. Who knows - it may have even been the company that was being discussed negatively in the thread, attempting to have us blocked. We discovered it the same day we received the penalty notice, and issued a reconsideration request, detailing what we believe we found. So far, we haven't disavowed any of the links, but I am thinking we should. We have asked Google if they're able to just turn off any link juice for that one page, especially since we don't know who is doing this spamming, and whether they will continue. Has anyone experienced something similar? How does one prevent themselves from receiving a penalty that they had nothing to do with? What is there to keep any competitor from launching a spammy link-building campaign to get their competitor removed from Google? Is there anything we can do to resolve this? How do you find out sites banned from Google? I know how to find out sites no longer cached, or is it the same thing once deindexed? As always aprpeciate your advice everyone.

Hello, people. I have a quick question regarding search in Google. I use search operator [site:url] to see indexing stauts of my site. Today, I was checking indexing status and I found that Google shows different numbers of indexed pages depends on search setting. 1. At default setting (set as 10 search result shows) > I get about 150 pages indexed by Google. 2. I set 100 results shows per page and tried again. > I get about 52 pages indexed by Google. Of course I used same page URL. I really want to know which data is accurate. Please help people!!

Multiple Google Places Listings?
Hi everyone. While I have read answers regarding this on Mike Blumenthal's blog, I have not been able to get an exact clarification on having multiple Google Places listings. According to Mike Blumethal, Google accepts multiple listings in the Places area for specific industries. e.g. One listing for a Dental office, one listing for EACH dentist. This could include a separate website for each. If this is the case, how far away are we from having one maxed out business owning muiiple positions in the local listing space in the search engines. specifically Google? I would love a good explanation of what is and isn't allowed to have multiple listings.
