Why is an old meta description displaying in search results?
-
We launched a new version of our retail website in Dec. 2012. This included new content and new metadata.
When our homepage displays in search results, it almost always displays with designated meta description - except when it's searched with the .com. In that case, an old version of our meta description (pre-Dec. 2012) is visible, though our current title displays.
The old metadata isn't loaded anywhere in our content management system. What can we do to change this?

Thanks. We we hoping it wasn't anything to do with our site.

I originally ask a similar question a little over a month ago. Oddly, for every search we did, except one, we got the correct meta description which we had change a week or so before. But, on one specific search the old meta showed.
EGOL had the best answer with it was likely that for every potential search term, the change had not occurred due to essentially Google not being able to touch everything at once. So, if there is a server sitting out somewhere that for whatever reason has not been populated with the change in meta, it handles a given query, and the old pops up.
Since then I have seen this query several times and it must be more prevalent now than in the past.
I realize it's not an "answer" but it's as close as we came.

Duplicate product description on the same page
Hello, I've got a really simple a basic question : is it an issue to put an excerpt of a text at the begining of a page, with a "jump to full text" link at the end of the excerpt ? So the first part of the text will be duplicated. A solution would be to hide a part of the text and reveal it with a "read more" button, but we don't want to do that, we want users to be able to read the full text just by scrolling + we want to put an excerpt "above-the-fold" content It's a product page. A second question : we've got duplicate content between our brand category pages, and the related product page, because the presentation text of the brand is shown on the product page + on the brand category page (it's presentations of distilleries, so it's a valuable content for the customer, we want to show it directly on the product page). Do you think it's a big issue ? Or maybe we can think : "ok, there is plenty of other text on those pages, so it won't matter" ?

My keywords have low search volume - is it still worth starting a blog?
I'm thinking of starting a new blog, but when I did my keyword research I found that my keywords all have low search volume (under 100 searches per month, with the occasional keyword having 480 searches a month). Is this a deal breaker? Any recommendations would be great - thanks everyone!

Using Brand Descriptions
We have an online site with approximately 800 products. When we add new products we typically use the photos and product description provided by the brand. The problem is there are numerous other sites using the same descriptions. All other content on the site is original. Is having small blocks of content that are the same on multiple sites likely to cause problems with Google?

How to make a bad posting drop down the search engines
we have had a competitor who has been stealing a lot of content from us and now they have used seo tactics to write a bad article about one of our sites that they have been taking content from, and what we would like to do is to use seo techniques to drop their article down the rankings. We are consulting a solicitor to take action against them as we are fed up of the content being stolen and the other techniques they are using, can anyone give me ideas on the best way to drop this post down the rankings. I was thinking about articles and press releases and blog posts to get higher up in the rankings and do a lot of these to drop their article down the rankings. Our solicitor has already taken action against them in the past and that cost us a fortune and it looks like we are going to have to spend a fortune again, so any help on using seo techniques to drop their article down the rankings would be great.

Old articles in a blog
Hi, I would like to know your opinion about old article obsolete in a blog. Do you think it's preferable to totally delete them from Wordpress CMS? Considering the fact that Panda update measures "Bouncing Rate", "Time on site", and all that? Thanks for your opinion and advice! (Sorry if my english is not perfect, 2nd language 😉 )
