Continuous variation of a keyword
-
Lords, on a site i have optimization job, a specific keyword, for over 5 months, ranging from 7 to +100 position. One day the keyword is there, beautiful on the first page, and another day disappear.
I do not understand why this happens, someone has something happened? I can not stabilize it, and is one of the most important for this client.
I live in tension, in the morning the first thing I do is search to see whether the keyword is.
Obviously it did in the first 2 months, then relaxed as she always comes back : )
Anyone have any idea what might be happening?
-
What I find strange is the keyword disappear for a day or two and then come back, often.
Normal would not be lose her position and then win or vice versa?
-
This is not uncommon, is this a very compeditive term?
The more compeditive a term, the larger the movement for a simple change, or lost link, or new link. -
Yes, it is no login, browse or rank, or cache. Variation occurs also in monitoring keywords campaign of seoMOZ.

Are you familiar with "personalized search"?
Just askin' because some people experience what you have described when logged in and logged out of google services.

Ranking keywords
Is there a way to utilize our currently ranking keywords. I don't think editing the url would be a good idea. What areas of these pages should we improve? Or is it better not to do anything.

Product Colour Variation and Canonicals
Hi there, We are currently doing an SEO audit of an ecommerce website and we ar eunsure on the best practice in terms of using canonical link tag for some product variations. An example is that the company has a product with two colour variations: Black and Tan. These are for the same product and have 99% the same content. Within the content of the page the colour is the only thing that changes (along with the meta information and imagery of course). My question is should we choose one product and canonically link back to that one i.e. Black is the main product and we link Tan back to this via a canonical link? Many thanks in advance.

Why do some Keywords collapse in SERPS?
I've been working my way up SERPS with some fairly uncompetitive keywords and have been comfortable with them in the 5-10 range. This week I have watch a number of them drop back to the mid 50s. Why?

Our urls for adwords are slightly different from current urls presented on site (weused htaccess to help create shorter urls). How important is it that the adwords url match the sitemap url for keywords on those pages?
Hello, We have dynamic urls that we have made into short urls through htaccess and code manipulation. Some of our adwords urls are different from our page urls - for example a) Latest version of page www.abc.com/x-y-z.html b) Previous version of url www.abc.com/x+y+z.html c) raw original version www.abc.com/yyy/zzz?category=X&Product-code=Y etc etc. Would my ranking for keywords on the page improve if I diligently made all of them the same? They all go to the same page even now, and no 404 errors or anything. Thanks Sam
