Blog post ideas!
-
Greetings,
I have started up a team of web designers. But we are located in a very competitive market and having a fairly new domain our chances are narrow standing out in the seo for a while. But to my notice most of the top search results for website design related terms don't use rich snippet or don't even have quality links from high end websites. So we believe we stand a chance with content marketing. As the competition is nowhere in social signals we plan on using content marketing by adding a blog. Now I am short on content/blog ideas. So any help in it would be a great help. Our focus is primarily on website design and search engine optimization.
Thanks

I am obliged to hear outstanding comments from you
And I am pretty sure I have found my answer. In India good companies are focused on outsourcing so usually local business is ignored by prominent companies. That's why not even a single company focused on content marketing which was a shock to me. Their long standing domains and 80,000+ Links over these years are may be the only reason they are still ranked. But with good on page and content strategy I think it isnt going to be tough road. Like Chris mentioned, the tough part is done. Now comes the easy part.
My target audience is mainly searching for it on google only. Mostly unaware of whether they should actually get a website and what the heck is this seo kind of clients so i am gonna start a blog post explaining these answers one by one in blog posts with nice infographics.
Like 1) keyword targeted - "ecommerce website design"
A nice infographic explanation of how ecommerce is hitting big in india and what are the future expectations and then "get your business ready for the future. You are just in time. get a perfect e commerce website for your business. and then link to homepage"
Just like these i intend to do niche specific blog posts too such as wedding websites, real estate websites.

You've done all the hard work, now comes the easy part! It's hard to understand why those other guys aren't all on top of this. Just boil your brand message down into a single sentence that describes your corporate values and differentiates you from your competitors; create a number of buyer personas by digging into your business objectives and understanding your buyers' needs at various intervals in their buying cycles; research those personas in social forums to see what types of content they might be sharing, who they might be sharing it with and who their influencers are; based on that, create content that promotes your brand message, addresses the audiences buying needs and gives them reason to share. Et voila!

I've actually just finished listening to a podcast about this entitled "Fail proof content"
Essentially, instead of thinking about what to write in the hopes that someone links to the content, why not instead look for content that is already being linked to from websites in your industry.
For example, you could have a look at competitor sites, or even sites that are in your general niche (web hosting, web design, user experience etc etc)
Pop them into opensiteexplorer and export the backlink profile. After this, you can try and identify what content people are linking to. Once you've identified what they have on their sites that people like, you simply do the same, but even better.
Once the content is up, you can reach out to websites similar to the ones who linked to the competitors content and suggest they link to yours, (or just make them aware of the content without asking for anything)

Some link worthy content + rich snippets and good on page SEO will surely help you compete with your competitors

Keyword strategy for wordpress category base blog in competitive industry
Hi friends, We have a client in the movie review blog industry, which we are aware is highly competitive, but we have tons of content (over 10,000 unique posts) and a good team of reviewers for fresh content. I was wondering about any input on keyword variations for our SEO Title of our wordpress main categories, like "Movie Reviews". I was thinking a modification to "Latest Movie Reviews", but the competition is only slightly less, and still seems questionable for attaining eventual rankings. "Best Movie Reviews" is slightly higher than "Latest Movie Reviews" but the competition still seems tough. What would be a good long term strategy with these category pages, any suggestions?

Relevancy vs Quality of the website in blog commenting
For example, I would like to comment on a do follow blog with my link inserted in the comment. The blog post is relevant with the link i inserted however there are too many spammy links on the comment. Will this affect my website in terms of "link neighborhood" even my site is relevant to the blog? how do you judge whether the blog is worth commenting and putting your link on it? Does link building on blog comments actually hurt the page rank of websites if it go wrong such as spammy sites?

Fast way to extract admin email from blogs.
Could someone recommend a fast way to extract the admin email from blogs. Something that could potentially accept a CSV file extracted from opensiteexplorer. A lot of blogs obviously have this info hidden, but there must be a way to search/extract via a paid software or tool of some kind.

My competition is using 1px images and links without anchor text. Good or bad idea?
I've been scoping out some of my competition and I noticed the number 1 ranking site is doing a lot of "interesting" stuff. I saw a bunch of 1px blank images that they must be using for the alt tag keywords. I also noticed several links to internal pages with different keywords without anchor text so they don't actually appear on the page. Is this considered black hat? Should I be doing something similar? It feels like the work I'm doing to try to rank #1 with a clean/professional looking site are wasted when the #1 sites are doing things like this.
