How to reach beyond main social accounts
-
My blog is still very young - and I feel like a total newbie, but I'm working at it consistently. I've got 21 posts that I've put up since the beginning of January (except for 2 from October) and another in the pipeline and of course, plans to continue on this way.
I've been building up my confidence and feel like it's just about time to branch out farther than my Google+, FaceBook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts (which I've been doing regularly).
My hope is to gain more visitors by publicizing the posts in some other environments. I would so appreciate some suggestions on how I might do that. And also, is it too soon? I don't want to jump the gun before there's an respectable/acceptable amount of content.

Thanks, Sung Moon.
You're right. I need to check my competitors links. Many of them have a ton more links than I do and I know for a fact that at least one of them has been paying a service to get them links for years. I do not want to follow in those footsteps for all the obvious reasons.

Thanks, Nakul,
As I mentioned, I have the social thing going and am doing all the things you suggest with the exception of the action text. I am looking for suggestions and ideas for other strategies in addition to my reach in social accounts.

Adding on what Nanking said of where your audience is. spy on your competitors and see where they are listing, where they get link backs, they they are are targeting.
research is key before anything else.

Create your identities on the social networks and share some of your content. Also put links to your social networks on your blog for your blog visitors to follow you on, look you up, contact you, connect with you etc. See how that works out. In my opinion, it depends and varies by niche to see where most of your audience is and how they like to interact with you. Over time, I would include more call to action sort of things like, towards the end of the article, Follow me on twitter to get notified when I post new articles. Or Like me on Facebook to get notified about my new article before anybody else etc.
It all depends what niche you are in, how big your audience is, where they are, demographics and how they interact with social media. Look at sites similar to yours and see what they do.
I hope this helps.

Blogger has reached out to me. What to do??
Hi Mozers, A blogger has reached out to me asking for free service in exchange of mention of our company in her social media accounts and blog. She is asking for service that is going to cost me around $300-$400. The thing is her audience is not our target customer, There is no way I can get a single paying client after getting the mentions on het twitter or facebook. What can be useful for me in my mind is the link from her blog/website. OSE shows DA 28 not very impressive in my mind. What would you guys do? Would you say yes and get the link and useless mentions on social media accounts? Would you ask for say 3 links from her blog maybe 1 to home page and 2 to deeper pages that are important landing pages for SEO purposes. One more thing- I realized that this blogger is just getting a lot of attention from media, for example she is coming to our city to do an interview with FOX new. So now she might not be super popular and her blog is DA28 but if she continues becoming popular I would think the link would be worth much more in the near future. This is the first time anyone has contacted me with such an offer I would really appreciate any help and input. Any advice would be great, how to ask for the links, or is there something else I can ask for, that I have not thought about? Hope you guys had nice Thanksgiving Thank you Davit

Which holds more weight..Citations or Social?
If a client has budget constraints, would it help local rank more if we placed emphasis on building out a couple citations each month for them or boosting their social posting frequency? Does one carry more weight?

Social Media updating
Hi, I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how SEOMoz records social media statistics. Namely when does SEOMoz record new: Facebook Likes Tweets Facebook Shares Google+ +1's I was wondering this because for campaigns that I am running the social media statistics displayed on SEOMoz are different to what is actually there. Thank you for any help.

Social Media Approaches for a Pest Control Company
Hi Everyone, I am working with a pest control company that is looking to branch out into social media. Their primary goal is to connect with their existing customers to improve retention. The secondary goal is to potentially pick up new clients. With that said, I wanted to see if you all had some ideas on things that they could tweet/facebook about on a regular basis? Posting about bugs on a daily basis gets pretty boring. I know Rand has been talking a lot lately about not being so narrow, so maybe we should talk more about general home improvement? Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks! EDIT: I should clarify that this is a company that has maintenance plans. You don't call them only when you have a problem. You sign up with them, and they treat your property every 3 months, or whenever you call. Only about 2% of their customer base is one-off phone calls to fix 1 problem and never come back again. I don't think their existing customer base will have any issues with Liking them on Facebook or following them on Twitter. The initial plan is to incentivize them to do so, but once we get the like/follow, we want to continually be in front of them with interesting content, contests as Jay suggested, etc.

Identifying Social Activity of Competition in Open Site Explorer.
Analysing the competition in Open Site Explorer, as you all know the results come back with the following detail: Facebook Shares Facebook Likes Tweets Google +1 There is no link through to the pages that have liked, followed or tweeted the URL. I want to understand what the competition is doing in moire detail. How are these numbers actually defined? Is their any way (or whats the best way) to identify the individual pages that the numbers refer to? Thanks in advance. Justin

Facebook Reach from 1,200 to less than 20 in 24 hours?
I created ad #1 in facebook ran it for a marked time frame. Target audience 1200. Reached 248. Created ad #2. Wanted to test it against ad #1 for same audience, but now Facebook says the target audience is less than 20 people. Huh? Facebook can't be loosing people that fast. Why would this happen? Is it simply a glitch?

Social Media Convergence Issues
Hello and Good Morning, I have a tech convergence question... In our social media package we have listed that we will subscribe to hubpages and scribd. a lot of these services do the same thing (twitter vs identi.ca, color vs instagram, gowalla vs fourquare, ect), what are some of the better services to use and why? We have our favorites but they may not necessarily be the most effective. thanks!
