Best use of Keyword Rankings report

is there a guide for getting the most out of the keyword ranking tool?
I currently have 250 or so keywords, some move up, some move down on a weekly basis but generally trend up. That's about as much info as I gain from it though.
anyone got any good tips?
thanks

Ben, My suggestion is to look at it as a broad swathe tool that can give you a ton of good data which will allow you to dig deeper. First: you can look between your rankings and your competitors by toggling the Show menu. You can see an overview with what improved or declined in a week and then by sorting on change under traffic or one of the search engines, you can make the order show most decline or most increase first. Now you are looking at what is moving. You can do the same with traffic if you have enabled GA.
At the end of a given term, you see a clock and an ecg screen icon. If you click on the clock you will see the history of all this. If you click on the ecg screen icon you get a competitive ranking analysis and keyword analysis. To me, that is a great feature. Also, I like the ability to see universal rankings, video and image rankings.
So, I look at the big picture, do a bit of drill down as needed, then if I need to, I look at some other tools to see where it is all headed or what I need to do to fix or improve.
Hope that helps,
Robert

Best way to block spambots in htaccess
I would like to block Russian Federation, China and Ukraine spam as well as semalt and buttonsforwebsite. I have come up with the following code, what do you think? For the countries: BLOCK COUNTRY DOMAINS RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} .(ru|cn|ua)(/|$) [NC]
Reporting & Analytics | | ijb
RewriteRule .* - [F] And for buttons-for-website.com and semalt-semalt.com: BLOCK REFERERS RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} (semalt|buttons) [NC]
RewriteRule .* - [F] or should it be: BLOCK USER AGENTS RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} (semalt|buttons) [NC]
RewriteRule .* - [F] Could I add (semalt|buttons|o-o-6-o-o|bestwebsitesawards|humanorightswatch) or is that too many?0 -
Does Google encryption of keyword data impact SEO revenue reporting in Google analytics?
Hi there, I know Google has been encrypting SEO keyword data which they rolled out in September 2013. My question is - will this impact SEO revenue figures reported in Google analytics? I have been monitoring SEO revenue figures for a client and they are significantly down even though rankings have not lowered. Is this because of Google's encryption? Could there be another reason? Many thanks!

Where to find "Keywords that Sent Organic Search Visits" in Google Analytics?
Hi everyone, Tried searching for this answer but couldn't find it. In the new analytics, I can see that there is a graph that shows the number of unique keywords that brought traffic to our site sorted by weeks. I can't seem to find this data in Google Analytics. I can only find the number of visits but not sorted by how many keywords, instead it is just # of visits from all of the keywords. Thanks in advance. SZ

Large content snippets showing up as keywords?
I've started to notice something very strange: the search keywords report in analytics show a bunch of instances where a person copied large snippets of our site content and then pasted it into the search box. Half these searches are coming from the US and half from...India. I'm worried that this may be the sign of a competitor attempting to perform negative SEO on our site (though admittedly I don't know how). Anyone seen anything like this? Advice? Thanks!!

Why would a website rank lower than weaker site?
Hi, Today I noticed that my website is ranking one place lower than a competitor in Google UK ,despite my site having a stronger domain authority and page authority. Is there a plausible reason for this, i'm slightly confused? Thanks,

Google Analytics Organic Keyword (Not Provided) Alternative Hacks?
I'm sure everyone is sick of the (Not Provided) keywords because I know I am, and Google reckons that you should only see 10% or less (I'm currently around 13% and growing). I am seeking alternatives or hacks that will help display the keywords? If you have a hack to actually display the keywords, please share it your ideas and thoughts? I recently implemented a hack that will show the landing page of the keywords which is better than nothing. But as an eCommerce site, I have about 10% of my transactions which not provided, knowing the keywords would really help. Would love to hear your thoughts?
