Keyword Research Local vs Organic
-
I am curious what tact people take when doing KWR for a local business where regional keywords are important, for example 'Dallas Family Dentist' vs just 'Family Dentist'?
It can be challenging to consistently create content for these regional keywords without looking spammy or akward in the wording of titles and copy.
Any advice on how you approach SEO research or content creation when these regional words are important?

We have similar issues with our own keywords, and creativity is certainly key. Think along the lines of "We've been operating for 20 years in Dallas. Family dentistry is our specialty." It does become very awkward. Alt tags, titles, and captions are easier to fit key phrases like that into. So I say aim for the best you can, then optimize for the shorter phrase like "Family Dentist."

Good thoughts on the page theming for the head term. I'm not sure if that is enough though when dealing with really competitive terms or verticals. Exact match phrasing or at least including the regional term still seems necessary.
Thoughts?

I imagine State side as the country is so vast, regional words would be very important
From my experience, I would use regions within Meta Tags, as opposed to page content, as you say it can look very tacky and not aesthetically pleasing to a website to have a heading saying 'Dallas Family Dentist'
So for example, meta Tag would be "Dallas Family Dentist etc etc", and optimize the page for Family Dentist.
Its worked for me before.

John

How to optimize home page for several keywords
My issue is this. I'm getting a lot of "F" grades for certain keywords to my homepage using MOZ. the thing is I can't add to many keywords to title tag without going over 65 characters. It seems the title tag is most important and even though i have keywords in content and everything else, without title tag keyword its useless. can creating more than one title tag help or will that make things worse with search engines?

Help with understanding how to target keywords not in content ?
I have a customer suggesting the use of keywords related to his competitors but not in the content of his site or how he promotes his brand. The page content is product specific and I use keyword matches for page and site strength. 1.) Does it hurt or help to load up the keywords with misc. keywords (example- the site is for a premium product use the terms "cheap", "affordable") 2.) Any suggestion for almost blank/generic landing pages ? 3.) Any benefit or penalty for using fewer keywords on multiple pages ? (example - target 6-8 words on 30 pages) I need a few discussion points for my next meeting and to clarify my position.

E-Commerce keyword question
We sell ItemA. One of the phrases that brings people to our site is "ItemA for sale". Should I just try to target "ItemA" or should I try to get "for sale" in there? I have seen a few other variations such as "on clearance" or "to purchase" as well. Can I just focus on "ItemA" or do I need all of those variants as well?

Targeting nearly identical keywords
Hi, I have a website selling home furniture and I can't work out the best way to target keywords relating to sofas/couches. They both have very similar search volume and so I would like to target both. However, I obviously can't create different pages for couches and sofas as this will likely be seen as duplicate content, I also think it wouldn't read well if the content swaps between using couch and then sofa. I would really appreciate some advice on how best I can target both keywords. Thanks in advance!

Keyword Research: Does Google view the word "and" as an "or" statement
I'm doing keyword research and one of the terms I have found that work for my website are "exercise and vitamins". One of my colleagues told me that Google views searches that contain the word "and" as an "or" statement (i.e., the searcher is looking for either "excercise" or "vitamins"). My understanding of the word "and" is that it is a stop word, which is ignored by Google. Which is correct?
