Reason behind SERP Behavior
-
Greetings Mozzers,
What would be the cause of the Title of the SERP to read a company name only instead of the <title>content?</p> <p>For example, if everywhere on my website, it reads SuperFun (if SuperFun is my company name). And I have a <title> of "SuperFun | Great Fun that is Super | New York"</p> <p>Let's say I then Google -> Great Fun in New York and I'm ranked 3rd. Yet the SERP reads "Super Fun" as the title.</p> <p>Any reason for this? Or ways I can further optimize this so it reads:</p> <p>1- the correct company name</p> <p>2- the <title> I specified in source code.</p> <p>Thanks for any clarficiation/advice on this matter!</p></title>

Hey Keri,
Thanks for responding to this. Yeah it seems like just one of those things.
We appreciate your information!

Hey mememax,
We'll try this. Thanks for your reply!

Hey Keri, yes I found that google makes those tweaks, however if you manage to have shorter, focused and highly related titles they normally won't change that. The issue normally is when someone's trying to point to too many keywords in a given page.
-
Google's been changing the title of page names in the SERPs for years, especially if they think it is too spammy or doesn't match the query. They even do it on Apple's main website. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do about it.

Hi Monster web, for additional reference, today I also found this article from yoast which may explain weird titles appearing in serps for WP driven sites.
-
Hi Monster web, sometimes google may use your DMOZ or Yahoo directory title (normally people uses their company name), it's quite rare but it could happen. Try to add this line to your source code:
(no slash if you're not xhtml page)
In that way you'll prevent all robots to take into account your yahoo or dmoz title for your listings.

Whats the Best Tool for Bulk SERPS Checking?
To get round the 'not provided' issue I've just generated a list of the 5000+ keywords that people have used to visit my site over the last 7+ years. I want to do a one off SERPS check for all these keywords and export into excel where I'll tie it up with lots of analytics and moz based data I was going to use the queries report on analytics but my data only goes back as far as May this year, so I'll use that if I have to (and probably will anyway for the impressions and CTR) but I'd prefer to cover everything so I can see any opportunities in my very long tail

Why is our website ranked lower but beats most competitors in full SERP report?
We are analysing why our website ranks so low (currently position 8 in serp). We beat our competitors in most areas. Also we produce by far the most useful content. Do not buy links or do any other malpractice. We have been for a long time ranked in top 3 (well mostly 1-2) positions. In the last year we have seen a decline to position 8-10 and we are not sure why this is the case. Can anyone suggest what we should be focusing on? We are clueless. All the practices we used to "know" now seem obsolete. m8qIeyC,Kf1LLei#0

Finding Local SERPs
Good Afternoon Everyone, I am looking into finding a tool that can use different IP addresses for local markets to find what their SERPs look like for searches such as: Cogs in Calgary Cog Installer Miami Cog Repair New York With local IP addresses for that search in that market. Not sure if such a thing exists, but thanks in advance!

Competitors SERP's
One of our competitors is routinely achieving excellent SERP for brand related keywords within only a couple of months of adding the respective brand to their website. Full details are explained in the attached image to avoid the competitor being notified of this post via Google Alerts. Can anyone identify how they are achieving this and point me in the right direction? The other thing is that I was also achieving good SERPs for these and other brand related keywords but I seem to have dropped off the face of google for them, where my competitor has not and who continues to achieve the seemingly impossible. Thanks TOfVHD8

Few backlinks, no social signals and PR of 1 in the #1 SERP. How is this possible?
Hello everyone, I've been busting my head now for a bit and for the life of me I can't understand how this website is ranked #1 or #2 for a moderately competitive keyword (45% According to the Keyword Difficulty Report). Anyone has any idea how is this possible or how are they doing it? Please note page and domain authority as well... Included: reports from SEOmoz and ahrefs Thank you in advance! With the purpose of protecting mi client's identity, I've hidden keywords and domains. Keyword Difficulty Report ahrefs_comp.png SEOmoz_comp.PNG

Free SEO tools appearing in SERPS for a site
Hi there, I've just taken over a site and it doesn't have a huge amount of shelfspace on the SERPs for it's brand name. Looking at the results that are there are a lot of free SEO tools that are coming up. They haven't had an SEO before so it's not coming from their side. There's such a lot of them I was wondering if anyone had come across this before - is it simply a competitor looking at the seo, could it be one of the seo analytics packages using free sites or is there anything else to be aware of. I can start knocking the sites down the SERPs but just wondering if anyone has a good solution for this. thanks Shiv

SEOMoz bar shows competitors ranking higher in SERPS with less Moztrust and Mozrank?
We are targeting the term "wholesale fireworks" we are currently on page two and just completed some on page optimization. I noticed using the Mozbar that the SERP results on the first page show a site with near zero page rank, Moztrust, domain trust, etc.. It is steadily number two in SERPS. Our site is just as strong or stronger on these ratings as anyone on the first page. How is it possible that we are still hanging out on page 2?

Unjustified ratings and reviews in google SERP?
I was checking Google US for some search term my company is interested for and found a thing I cannot explain well. The site Tradecarview is shown with a rating of 4.4 stars from 4209 reviews. (Please see attached image). The same rating is shown on their homepage, but I could not find much more details. (By the way: Tradecarview is a sort of directory for used car dealers to post their vehicles, something similar to Ebay or Yahoo motors.) The question is simple: is Google trusting the ratings given directly on the website? Maybe just summarizing the ratings shown here? http://www.tradecarview.com/pr/providerlist.aspx?pn=0&st=7 Or are there other sources I couldn't find that Google used to specify the rating? What do you think? Thank you in advance for your answers, Dario Pe1ft.jpg
