Unjustified ratings and reviews in google SERP?
-
I was checking Google US for some search term my company is interested for and found a thing I cannot explain well.
The site Tradecarview is shown with a rating of 4.4 stars from 4209 reviews. (Please see attached image). The same rating is shown on their homepage, but I could not find much more details. (By the way: Tradecarview is a sort of directory for used car dealers to post their vehicles, something similar to Ebay or Yahoo motors.)
The question is simple: is Google trusting the ratings given directly on the website?
Maybe just summarizing the ratings shown here? http://www.tradecarview.com/pr/providerlist.aspx?pn=0&st=7
Or are there other sources I couldn't find that Google used to specify the rating?
What do you think?
Thank you in advance for your answers,
Dario

Hello, thank you, I understand.
In this case "seller reviews link" is not available, so it is not possible to directly check the websites the ratings come from. (see them image of the SERP I have attached).
Also the second funny thing, is that the rating and the number of reviews shown by Google is basically the same of the one declared by the website itself in their top page.
It seems almost that Google is taking the rating directly from the site itself.

Google looks at a range of review sites, lets say 5 and works out a star rating from the feedback given.
I know for a fact from speaking to my Google account manager if the star rating worked out is 4+ stars then you have an option to turn it on for Adwords Ads.
So the answer to your question is no, they take the reviews from a wide range of review sites and use that data.
If you click on seller reviews link, it should take you to another Google page which shows the reviews, you can then click a link and it will take you to a review site showing that review.

What is your review of Pushfire (aka Sugarrae's firm)?
Hi guys, I told my extended network that we're hiring an SEO firm to do some white hat SEO auditing, link building, and ongoing seo consultation. Rae Hoffman's firm Pushfire came highly recommended via several sources. They seem to have a good blend of high profile (they speak at all sorts of conferences and write at various prestigious publications) and reasonable pricing. I was wondering what fellow moz members think about this firm. Any reviews or thoughts are welcome!

Continuous drop in Rankings on Google.uk
I have a Website who was ranked top 6 for most competitive keywords on Google.co.uk but suddenly dropped to page 2 after 21st January 2013 and later back to top 10 position and now dropped to pages 2 to 5, for most terms. I initially thought it was the transition rank causing this fluctuations. The strange thing is, i haven't done anything wrong in terms of back linking efforts. My site is content rich and offers real value to users also, the website PR increased from 3 to 4 recently, my site seomoz rank, PA, DA and Moz trust is higher than top ranked websites above mine. Please any suggestions?? Kindly help.....

Counting up local reviews
Mozzers, Does anyone know of a tool that can count up the number of local reviews a business has and compare them against another business? Google Places has the number of reviews at the bottom of each place page but it never fully reflects the true count of reviews each business has. Thanks!

Different SERP results in browsers / different result pages for keyword in browser
Hi, I am making the SEO reports for a travel agency and I have the following problem. SEOmoz shows me the website is on page 1, for a keyword. Yesterday, a google search with firefox showed me the same position, while, searching from a different computer on google using firefox gave me another position. The URL shown was also different. I asked some friends to do the search - the results were the same - first page. Today, firefox shows me the second URL on the 4'th page, and the result from the first page of google does not appear, while Chrome still shows me the first URL on the first page. I have no idea why the URL that was ranking well does not appear on the first page with Firefox, and why it appears on the first page with Chrome, or why the URL that was ranking bad -meaning page 4, appears on Firefox but does not appear on Chrome. Can someone give me some advice?

Linkdomain google searches
I am watching a SEOmoz webinar: Future of Link Building. At 13 minutes into the move an example search is shown where the search term is linkdomain:seomoz.org -seomoz. Rand explains this search will show the results of all pages which mention seomoz.org but do not offer a followed link. I tried that search for one of my sites: linkdomain:www.terapvp.com -terapvp. It doesn't work at all. It shows a list of sites discussing "tera pvp", none of which have links to me at all. That leads to two questions: how does the linkdomain: query work? how would I ask Google to show a results page of sites with nofollow links and/or citations to my site?
