How to redirect my .com/blog to my server folder /blog ?
-
Hello SEO Moz !
Always hard to post something serious for the 04.01 but anyway let's try !
I'm releasing Joomla websites website.com, website.com/fr, website.com/es and so on.
Usually i have the following folders on my server
- [ROOT]/com
- [ROOT]/com/fr
- [ROOT]/com/es
However I would like to get the following now (for back up and security purpose).
- [ROOT]/com
- [ROOT]/es
- [ROOT]/fr
So now what can I do (I gues .htaccess) to open the folder [ROOT]/es when people clic on website.com/es ?
It sounds stupid but I really don't know.
I found this on internet but did not answer my needs.
.htaccess
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(^/fr/.) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.)$ /sites/fr/$1 [L,R=301]Tks a lot !

somewhere on your root folder you will have a .htaccess file
.htaccess is a small server file that you can put conditions in. some conditions will redirect to a "new" location (your new folders) when the .htaccess detects a url to an "old" location. this is commonly called "mod rewrite".
the software used to issue these commands varies based on your web site host. contact them and ask them what rewrite/redirection software is on your account (for example, one common one is ISAPI rewrite:

Sudden Indexation of "Index of /wp-content/uploads/"
Hi all, I have suddenly noticed a massive jump in indexed pages. After performing a "site:" search, it was revealed that the sudden jump was due to the indexation of many pages beginning with the serp title "Index of /wp-content/uploads/" for many uploaded pieces of content & plugins. This has appeared approximately one month after switching to https. I have also noticed a decline in Bing rankings. Does anyone know what is causing/how to fix this? To be clear, these pages are **not **normal /wp-content/uploads/ but rather "index of" pages, being included in Google. Thank you.

302 Redirects for Wordpress Blog Trackbacks
I'm a newbie, and just got my first crawl diagnostics report. I was looking at the temporary redirects, and virtually all of them are trackback URLs from our blog (we use ourdomain.com/blog and Wordpress). The diagnostics report says they're 302 redirects. Is this problematic and, if so, can you suggest the best way to fix the problem? Thanks in advance for your help!

Can I do a redirect to a new domain name only a couple of weeks after having redirected to another domain?
I have a client with two website with very similar content. Both had a lot of inbound links and performed fairly well in SERPS. We recently combined both sites and have redirected one of the domains to the other. The traffic dipped slightly initially, but is recovering nicely. Now the client registered a new domain name he would like to use for the site. Should I wait a few weeks for everything to settle down after the first redirect/consolidation of sites before doing a new redirect to a new domain name, or should I not worry about having any issues with doing it right away?

301 redirects and OSE
We run a blog/video real estate site (yochicago.com) as one of the venues for sponsored content for our clients looking for off-page SEO and inbound links. I'm working with a client who we've linked to a handful of times in the last few weeks, but I'm not seeing any external links from our site on PRO/OSE. Come to find that our writer has been linking to http://clientsite.com, instead of http://www.clientsite.com, which is the canonical site. I wouldn't have thought that this would make a difference, and about an hour of web research seems to confirm that it shouldn't make a difference, save for losing a little bit of SEO credit. What am I missing? Any input would be appreciated.

Double 301 redirect
Hi together, due to some technical reasons I have redirect (301) an existing link two times. Example: www.mydomain.com/root/site.html > 301 > www.mydomain.com/site.html > 301 www.mydomain.com/site_new.html Is there anybody how has got some experience like doing a double redirect? What about link juice? Best regards Steffen
