Content: Best Blogs Article
-
Hello,
For an Ecommerce site, I think a good way to get known is to write a "Best X Blogs" article, where X is a topic in your industry, and then letting the people you link to know about the article. I got the idea from a Mozinar.
My question is, how close does the X from above have to be in your niche? For example, if your product is running shoes can you write a "best athlete blogs" article? I'm worried about them reading the article, then leaving. In some smaller niches the topics closest to the product don't have much in the way of blogs out there.
So how close to your niche does the Best X Blogs topic have to be?

Hi
I guess it would depend on what the product is and what the article is about, I think the best way is to think like a customer. How would you see your customer using the blog? What would they be interested in reading about?
Using your example of the running shoes and the best athlete blogs article, I think it would work really well if you included in the article a picture of each athlete and then a link beneath the image to the page within your e-commerce website that has the pair of running shoes on that they are wearing.
That way you get an interesting opinion piece article that will encourage discussion as well as a link to your e-commerce website and different products within it. Hopefully this way people are less likely just to read the article and leave; instead they will have a look and see what type of shoes their favorite athlete wears. (and then hopefully buy them as well!)
Hope that helps

I was told that it is not necessary to spin my original articles that were indexed in my blog before they are distributed to the 2 top article directories ezine articles and goarticles and the other top 13 or 15 --- If true - why ? and if false -- why ? I am not looking to rank in article directories my purpose is for syndication purposes and also any traffic I can get internally from visitors to the article directories. So would the article directories frown on me if I am submitting the same article from my blog to all other article directories as is straight from my blog. I

Best way to avoid duplicate content issues here.
I am planning to write an article that refutes some claims made in another article. The original article is a 20 page pdf. What I plan to do is to take quotes from this PDF and then under each quote write my arguments for or against the quote. If I take direct quotes from the article, is Google likely to see this as duplicate content?
