Should I use always the highest bid?
-
In google adwords the highest bid apparently gets more impressions, but always more clicks?
I wonder if I can save money by not targeting the 1st position, but from example 3-6, the ad will still be visible once the search results come in.
how do you guys usually set the bid?
-
It really depends on whether you are looking for a higher CTR or a lower CPA. This will vary depending on what your goal is. If you are just trying to drive any and all traffic, then generally higher bids and first position will almost always result in more raw traffic.
If you are driving to a landing page though, and your goal is to get qualified traffic to not only click on the add but convert through some sort of call to action, often a lower average ad position can pay off quite well for you. Especially if there are a lot of ads and you have 3 ads on top of the organic listing and several more on the right side of the SERP. In those cases, I often find a lot of success in qualified clicks with an average position of 4.5.
Of course it does depend on your vertical, and B2B and B2C often act very differently.

How much time/data do you have in Adwords?
We've lowered our highest bid and seen the same amount of traffic/conversions even though we aren't the "top bid" anymore.
I suspect this will vary greatly depending on what niche you are in and how much you mess with your bid (i..e top bid gets a LOT of eyeballs, middle bid gets some, low bid may not even display).
you have to decide if that sweet spot where the ad displays in the middle generates a better bid price and conversion against the "paying full price" for the top spot.
so in short, test both over a period of time and then go back and check the conversion data! :>)

SERP always between 1-3, Should I remarket?
Hey guys. My business consistently ranks 1-3 on SERP (google) and starting to wonder if my newly launched remarketing campaign is a waste of money. My CTR has consistently been 10%. However, I am unable to track actual conversions because of a cross domain\3rd party I am using. I can see those clicks are decent Time on Site and page views. Of course Google is telling my its capped because of budget. What to do? Am I competing with myself? Would the visitors showed up anyways? Anyone have some insight they would like to share? I really don't wanna waste the $$ if I don't need to. Thanks,

Better use Google Analytics? This is for Conversion Rate Optimization purposes
Hi Moz-ers, I've had much help from the Moz community and hoping you can help me out on this one too. I would like to track everyone who visits our town listing pages. We operate much like ratings and reviews websites like tripadvisor and booking.com. What is the best way to track visitors coming to our listings pages only (for example tripadvisor shows top 10 hotels in London.) I would like Google Analytics on London and all other towns including Birmingham, Southampton ect... Is it possible to set up Google analytics to track this? These are our highest volume pages so having an idea of the traffic behaviour is crucial for SEO and Conversion Rate Optimization. As usual, looking forward to the advice we receive! Thanks,

Has anyone ever used Adwords' Forwarding Numbers as a Call Tracking Service?
Hi, I was taking over a client's Adwords account from a previous agency. It appears the former agency added the Google Forwarding Number (for call tracking on call extensions) and added it to the client's website. Therefore, if anyone calls that number from the website, it would register within Adwords (just not as a conversion but as a click under "call extensions") The problem: you can't filter by phone number (the same number calling +1 would indicate spam) you can filter by device (so tablet / computer) can be considered spam generally. Questions: Anyone ever used this before? Your thoughts? Does anyone know if there is spam coming from mobile devices now-a-days? Please tell me what I'm missing. Any advice / anyone else seen this / done this? Thanks Moz Community, Cole

Using my Adwords budget
Hi, I have a huge budget for adwords but I only seem to be using about 1/10 of it daily. How to I go about using more budget but also keeping my conversion costs and % around the same? And should each campaign have its own set of unique keywords? Should these keywords never appear in more than 1 campaign? Any tips on maximising budget and increasing conversions would be great. Thanks

How to make use of those traffics on non-conversion page?
I am working on a website which sells eBooks softwares, most of posts on the site are teaching people how to solve eBook-reading problems and will lead visitors to download and try the software. But some posts are not related to the software, we just write it for traffic, for example: link-bait post such as top xxx romantic eBooks, free eBooks tools review, etc. These posts have got a pretty considerable traffic, but visitors just come here, read, like/share/comment, then leave. Is there any way I can make use of these pages to convert? Thanks

How to use a large budget
Hi All, This is more of an open discussion to gather some advice / strategy tips for a large spending client - so looking for some experts tips here. Potentially, there is a large client on the horizon, with a budget for 'SEO' starting at the 15k PM region. My question is- in what way would you personally begin to utilise this budget in absolute benefit of the client. What would you propose strategy-wise to begin with, what else would you incorporate along the line? How would you generate results not just from SEO, but from additional channels? PS - They have a separate budget for PPC. An open discussion and plenty of ideas would be fantastic.

Which Survey Tools Have You Used? (or know of?)
I'm looking for a website survey tool so I can get more targeted feedback from my users. I've looked at a few (4Q, KISSInsights) so far but I think I might need something more robust. There are specific actions that users are taking on our websites that we would like to investigate deeper so I need a tool that can either only survey users who perform that action (users who bounce, users who enter via a specific page, users who visit a landing page but don't convert, etc) or at least let me segment after the fact so I can identify feedback from a specific type of user. I would appreciate any specific tools that you know of that can accomplish this type of targeting. You don't even need to describe it, just provide a link and I'll give you a thumbs up. Thanks
