Hi - i have tried connecting my Facebook account to our SEO Moz account - but it will not let me. Does anyone know why?

Hello Scott! That is a great question. To add the Facebook account, you need to be an admin on the FB account and you have to have 2 or more likes. If it is still not letting you add your Facebook profile, please message us at help@seomoz.org and we can investigate this further to make sure there isn't anything blocking you on our end.

The Rules Of A Facebook Group

Hi there, I'm currently looking to set up a Facebook Group for an Education Recruitment Business I am working with. We're setting up the Facebook group to foster a sense of community and collaboration with our current teachers. I'm currently in the process of drawing up a list of rules and regulations for our first group. The obvious ones are there such as no profanity, no spamming (can't stand spam - especially those fake Ray Ban ads!) but there I would really love some other group rule suggestions especially when it comes to users promoting our competition as education recruitment is a very competitive sector. Facebook Name Change and Effect on SEO

Hey Mozzers! Trying this one again as my timing was probably pretty bad with Easter. Working with a company who has about 20K followers on Facebook and about 500 backlinks to their current facebook page. They want to change the name of the page to better reflect the business. I need to advise on this but I'm not sure of and how it will effect them. Any one had any experience in this area?

Why can't anyone check in on my Facebook Page?

Once upon a time, we were able to check in at our office on Facebook. Then, one day, we just...couldn't. I didn't (at least intentionally) change any settings on the page. Adult dating site. How can I get people to share content on facebook or google plus..

I am working on http://www.top-10-dating-reviews.com an adult dating review website. I want to build a presence on social networks so have set up twitter, google plus, and a facebook page. As I understand it retweets, like, shares etc... Play a significant part in seo. Therefore I want to get as many shares etc as possible. My initial idea was to create a fan page on facebook and pay to promote it on facebook gaining likes on the fan page. Will likes on the fan page impact the main site? I would imagine not? However I can see how someone visiting the main site and liking a post would have a positive effect on rankings. The problem I've come into is facebook won't run the ads as the page is adult so they won't accept paid ads. If I add a post to the facebook page how can I get it in front of people to share or like it? Equally how can I get google plus shares? I'm new to social and am unsure of how I should proceed? Especially as facebook considers the page adult. Finally how important is social. I've read it can get short term wins and optimised posts can appear at the top of search results but don't stay there long. Link building is still the long term strategy?

Facebook business page

Hello Can you help me. I'm starting out in SEO and sometimes I think I miss the Elephant in the room. I have tried and tried to find our via 'Google' or 'Seomoz' articles the answer to this question. How does 'Google Panda' link a facebook business page to it's actual business website if the url is not identical eg 'www.setteeherts.co.uk' 2 'www.facebook.com/settee-herts'? As no one is talking about this I'm assuming I am missing the elephant. If you can see it can you point it out gently? ta!

Do you build tools meant to be shared on Facebook?

I have some neat ideas for calculators and fun tools that I'll implement on one of my sites from time to time. I'm not convinced that I am getting the most SEO value out of them however, and would love to discuss what others do. Let's say I create a calculator that let's someone "cartoon themselves" (fictitious example). So, I'd create the tool and then I would put a button in a prominent place on the page to encourage people to share to FB. I configure my page so that the title and meta description are enticing for others who would see the story in their friend's news feed, so something like: I just cartooned myself on example.com! Upload a photo and see what you look like as a cartoon! You won't believe the results! So, this gets me some traffic, but nothing has gone super viral yet. I have a few pages like this that have garnered a few links, but not nearly as many as I would like. I promote the page on digg and other sites as well but this brings very poor returns. When you make a tool like this, do you do a lot of promotion? Have any tips for me? (btw...it's possible that my tools are just not as "shareable" as I think!)

Are Facebook page updates indexed in Google search?

I seem to remember an update where Google said it was going to include Facebook page updates into Google search, but perhaps that was a deal that fell through? If updates ARE appearing in Gooogle search, how do I troubleshoot a Facebook page where they are not?
