I'm a complete newbie at this so please bear with me, I'm using the free trial version of Market Samurai and I was just researching some keywords and the figures were off from google adword and MS. Is this due Google banning MS about a year ago? Because from what I've read appantely they get their SEOC figures from Bing? Which would defeat me logging in with my adwords account in the MS program right? I'd appreciate the help guys. Thank you in advance.

Yes, the SEOC value returned by MS represents the total number of webpages indexed by Bing that contain a particular keyword. MS still uses your google adwords login to retrieve the value for the "Total Searches" column. The total searches column is the "average number" of (daily,weekly, monthly) searches performed for a keyword.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the data returned from MS is not the most current available. I noticed that when I was using the full version of MS there was an option where you could export your data or something similar to that and for some reason it then appearred on one a page at noblesamurai.com If you actually follow the link and view that data, you will notice that it has two settings, with legacy data being the default and optionally allowing you to select something like "fresh data" or "new data"... So I'm guessing that what you see when using MS is the older data.
I've only used the full version of MS for the 40 day challenge, which has expired some time ago so hopefully someone who has the full version can verify the accuracy of my post in case this only applies when using the free trial or something.

Most every keyword research tool uses proprietary metrics so comparing one to another is tough. Rather, get used to using one tool and use their metrics to compare keywords from within their own tool. You can look for terms from other tools and then plug them into your primary tool to ascertain metrics.

Does keyword showing up in the body affect page score?
I noticed that when I search for a keyword and look at competitor sites, the keyword shows up in the "Body" under On Page Grader. For some reason, the keyword doesn't show up in the "Body" on Wowhead.com. I'm looking at the url and clearly it is in the body. This might be a technical issue and not showing in the body that MOZ is pointing out. How do we fix this? And will fixing this affect page score? Here are some examples of keywords and comparing the page score for competitors.

Is it allowed to buy an old website with external links en redirect it to your own site??
Hello, We noticed at MOZ that one of our competitor's websites has increased the number of external backlinks from 5k to 25k within a month. Upon investigating the links, we found that the competitor had acquired an old, unknown website with completely different content and external links in that month. The competitor then redirected that purchased website to their own website, instantly gaining 20k external links. This seems to be against Google's guidelines as it is an extremely unnatural way of link building and should be penalized by search engines. However, the website's Domain Authority (DA) has increased by 10 points in that month, and its rankings have greatly improved on Google. So it appears that acquiring an old website with many external links unrelated to your own website is highly profitable. We try to obtain links honestly, but we cannot reach 25k links naturally. Is there any way to report these practices to Google? Does anyone know how to do this?

What is the relationship between inbound links and linking domains?
In doing competitor research, there's a specific competitor that has fewer linking domains, but dramatically more inbound links. How do these two relate to each other? I do have a higher domain authority and more internal followed links with them having more internal nofollow and external (both follow and nofollow) links. I'm trying to understand how they can have 3.7k linking domains and 4.8 million inbound links while I have 4.1k linking domains and only 601k inbound links. What really defines an inbound link and what's there relationship between inbound links and linking domains?

What are some good SEO tactics to defend our position against an upcoming competition in a near monopolistic market?
I'm doing SEO for a medium sized client whose area of business is targeting a very niche audience, in an almost monopolistic market. We're currently in top 3 ranks in our head terms. However, market research has indicated the threat from an upcoming competitor. The competitor is relatively larger and is well established in other countries. Content Ideas in a limited market
I've hit a road block of sorts and my mind is having trouble thinking out of the box. I'm in a relatively small niche with a roofing product called snow guards. I am struggling with ways to build links and content for my website at www.roofthings.com. I've used some forums, blogs, and directories. After going through my competitors link data, it seems that one of the biggest links they have that I don't is a DMOZ listing, but that can take awhile and I have submitted about 7 months ago. It also appears that a lot of their links I cannot get are coming from construction magazines they paid to be in. I don't have that kind of budget at this time and so I'm trying to compete via organic rankings. My biggest thing I am struggling with is how to gain more back links. My biggest competitor has over 40,000 links compared to my 2700. I'm somewhat new to SEO and am just looking for a couple suggestions. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How accurate is the Keyword Difficulty Tool for international markets (specifically Australia)?
