Is it worth to have a DNS manage service like easydns or ultradns in terms of seo ?
-
I have a HTML site hosted in Netherlands, i use Could Files from Rackspace and Cloudfront from Amazon as CDN.
My target audience are in Portugal
Is it worth to have a DNS Manage service in terms of seo?
If so what are the benefits?
Thank you
Paulo

Hi Paulo,
I can't think of any way to objectively measure whether it would make a difference or not, however, just putting my mind to work on it, there is a small possibility that it could be included in a trust algorithm; spammers are unlikely to be paying the extra to use them.
Anycast DNS may also mean your site has a better uptime rate when parts of the Internet go down or be very slightly faster but I don't think it's worth doing just from a SEO perspective.

The DNS isn't really to do with where something is hosted but how the information flows across the web. Basically name servers are like an address book for the web. In fact read the start of this wiki article.
You are correct though that having a .pt domain and being hosted in Portugal would be beneficial for SEO.

Put this on your list as the last thing to do after youve done everything else. Gains, if any, are likely to be very small

From what I understand hosting in the correct region is beneficial however area is not. So if you are targeting Portugal it would be beneficial to have it hosted in Portugal although where in abouts in Portugal it is hosted is not important.

Question regarding international SEO
Hi there, I have a question regarding international SEO and the APAC region in particular. We currently have a website extension .com and offer our content in English. However, we notice that our website hardly ranks in Google in the APAC region, while one of the main languages in that region is also English. I figure one way would be to set up .com/sg/ (or .com/au/ or .com/nz/), but then the content would still be in English. So wouldn't that be counted as duplicate content? Does anyone have experience in improving website rankings for various English-speaking countries, without creating duplicate content? Thanks in advance for your help!

Multiregional / Multilingual SEO - Subfolders Question
Hello all, I wonder if you can help me... I have a question about subfolders in multi-regional / multi-lingual SEO - more specifically in reference to targeting the UK and the US. Having looked at some global websites these are the types of implementations I've most commonly seen: UK subfolders .com/uk .com/gb .com/gb/en-gb | .com/en-GB .com/gb-en .com/en-gb .com/uk/en US subfolders .com/us .com/us/en-us | .com/en-US .com/us-en .com/en-us .com/us/en Are any of these approaches better than others or is it all a matter of personal preference? What's the reason for using .com/gb over .com/uk (or vice versa) for example? Secondly, my assumption is that the examples above which include language subfolders do so because these companies are targeting different speaking users within these countries. Would I be right to think that since the organisation I work for is only targeting the American speakers in the US, we wouldn't need to go so far as to have language subfolders in addition to location subfolders? Would be great to get some feedback / suggestions! Thanks!

International SEO
Okay, so I have read through the following link in respect to International SEO (https://moz.com/learn/seo/international-seo), and I believe that the way forward it a ccTLD. My thought was to have .com, .co.uk and .eu. Currently my site is .com, but receives most of its traffic from UK sources. I'm concerned that when I switch over to ccTLDs, the .co.uk in particular, that my UK traffic could dry up. Switching from .com to .co.uk and then using the .com to target the US market makes sense, but I would like to know others opinions on the potential dangers of doing this. Also, are ccTLDs kept on the same hosting or would they require individual hosting? The link doesn't cover this question.

IP Address Geolocation SEO - Multiple A records, implications?
Hi, We operate an ecom site, with a .com TLD. The IP address of the hosting is based in France and indeed we seem to see quite a lot of traffic from France. How relevant is the A record of the domain for SEO? Is it still an important signal to help Google geolocate? And, if that is the case, is there a case for having multiple A records for the domain? Like an IP Address in France, an IP address in Italy, etc... that way the domain would have multiple A records... Thank you

International SEO whats best 2 sites co.uk and com.au ?
We have the co.uk and com.au ccTLDS and currently operate out of the UK only but plans are in place for Australia. We can't get hold of the .org or .com so it has to be the ccTLD. I want to use the same site for both countries and either host 2 identical sites (same content) or 1 site with different domain names + meta tags for the 2 countries. Whats the best way to make this happen without screwing things up?
