Mention on a website
-
I've come across a few curated lists on different websites that are related to my site. Some of them are just lists without links. Should I reach out and request a listing? I figure why not, It's not a link but is still a mention.
Do mentions hold any value with search engines?
Thanks

Paul,
I like that thought, very creative. I'm going to give that a try.
Thanks

What about including a value-add when you make your request, Brandon?
Since you're asking for a link as well as a mention (which would be something more than they've provided for the others on the list) what if you did the bit of extra work to provide a new version of their list, including yourself, that you had already added the links to for everyone?
Explain why this new list would be more useful for the site's visitors, and provide a ready-to-copy-paste html version to make it dead easy for them to update.
Sure, you'd be better off if your entry was the only one with a link (fewer links out = more juice per link) but by showing that you're providing value to the other users above and beyond just asking for what benefits you, you'd be more likely to get included, and it could even start up a bit of a relationship that could benefit both of you in future as well.
Just a thought.

I would certainly ask for the link, nothing to lose, particurly if you can provide them with a usefull content page to link to that they may feel adds value.

Thanks for the response Karl,
I usually tread causally when putting together a link request email and don't try to push for anything that I know I probably wont get. The page that I came across that made me think about this is a nice list of companies in our industry but not a single listing links out.

Hi Brandon,
Google has been talking about citations and there is some talk that they can recognise a brand even if it doesn't actually link. I'd contact the website and ask for an actual link though because this would be more beneficial.

How i can Reduce Spam score of my website
Hi everyone, I'm reaching out to the community for some advice on improving my website's spam score. I've been using the Moz Spam Score Checker and my website, sngplbill.pk, currently has a score of 7%. While this isn't exceptionally high, I'd like to take steps to bring it down as low as possible, ideally under 1%. One factor I've identified that might be contributing to this score is a number of backlinks pointing to my site has a much higher spam score (over 80%). (screenshot attached)sngplbillscore I'm wondering if the community has any recommendations for how to address this situation. Here are some specific questions I have: Does disavowing the backlinks from spamy site seem like the best course of action?

Other websites copy content and giving a link back
Hi, I've just noticed a few back links in Google Search Console, I was excited. But when I saw the backlinks, 2 other websites that had completely copied my content and then gave a backlink to my website. Is this bad for SEO and would google penalise my website for this?

Links from Directory Websites with NoFollow Tag
In reviewing our root domain links, I noticed that many of the directories (like Yellow Pages, Insider Pages, Merchant Circle, etc) that there are no follow codes included in the link to our website. Is this a common practice for these directories? Also, I wanted to confirm that this would not help in our link building strategies with any relevant "link juice." Below is a copy and pasted (with some extra characters that shouldn't have copy and pasted), but the key note here is the no follow tag that was included in this link to our site. Visit Website Thanks as always MOZ Community - cheers!

Why do hallmarks from web design companies carry so much ranking weight for the recipient website?
Website designers/developers place hallmarks (Website Designed by XXXX) in the footer region of the web sites they have designed/built, how much ranking value do these hallmarks have being that they're pointing from sites that are irrelevant to the web designer's, and why?

How can influence a directory backling page on your website ?
Hi, Some good directories asked a backlink for having ours listed in their categories. But of course, I am not fan of putting their link on the home page, but creating a page exclusively for these backlinks is a bad thing to mister google ? thanks in advance !
