Paid for Yahoo Directory months ago, yet does not display in OSE
-
Hi Mozzers,
How long does it normally take for your yahoo directory link to show up in Open Site Explorer?
We signed up and got our link on dir.yahoo early January and still see nothing in OSE. Should I call them up and ask them to fetch the page for Google?
Get a refund?Helps!
Thanks! -
I just took a look and it looks like the page was last crawled less than 2 weeks ago.
I also looked in GWT and I actually see 7 dir.yahoo links!
Woot.
Thanks Nakul.

Hi,
As far as I know - based on feedback from several people, the Yahoo directory has a low crawl rate from Google bot - that means it can take some time for a link from Yahoo dir to show up.
More then that - OSE only covers a portion of the web and it might skip Yahoo Dir. if it's not in OSE it dosen't mean Google didn't find it though - there are a lot of older Yahoo dir links that are not showing in OSE.
If you post the Yahoo dir page where you have the link for sure me or someone else from here can have a more direct " dive " into this...
Hope it helps.

As an aside, by the time you get to renewal time for next year's listing in Yahoo, you may want to have already looked at other ways to spend that 300 bucks.

If you go to the URL where your directory listing is on dir.yahoo.com, and check the Google cache for that page, is that page cached ? When was it cached ? And do you see your URL on the cached version of that page ? If yes, you are getting the credit for it. You may or may not see it on OSE, because OSE only crawls a portion of the web.
Does that link show up in your Google Webmaster Console Links ? If yes, in either the cache or GWC or both, you are good and no need to worry.

Anyone come accross a completely random site name displayed in the SERPs?
Hello SEO friends, I am looking at a site that has a completely random site name displayed in the serps. The site in question is a hypnotherapy service and the site name is displaying as a commercial cargo airline! See the screen shot. Any ideas? There is 'local business' structured data on the site and it IS showing the correct business name. Is this a hack? Negative SEO attack? Random Google stuff up? Help! Very confused! Thank you for any advice! Sean!Untitled.jpg

Google SERPs displaying Tracking Tags
Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me! Can you tell me why Google would be displaying the tracking URLs in the SERPs (screenshot - http://i.imgur.com/gbskD26.jpg)? I'm thinking it may have to do with the canonical URLs, but I'm not sure.. Thanks in advance! gbskD26.jpg

Is it OK to dynamically serve different content to paid and non-paid traffic from the same URL?
Hi Moz! We're trying to serve different content to paid and non-paid visitors from the same URL. Is this black hat? Here's the reason we want to do this -- we're testing a theory that paid ads boost organic rankings. This is something we saw happen to a client and we want to test this further. But we have to have a different UX that's more sparse and converts better for paid. Thanks for reading!

meta robots no follow on page for paid links
Hi I have a page containing paid links. i would like to add no follow attribute to these links
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Kung_fu_Panda
but from technical reasons, i can only place meta robots no follow on page level (
is that enough for telling Google that the links in this page are paid and and to prevent Google penlizling the sites that the page link to? Thanks!0 -

We've submitted 2 reconsideration requests in a month and google are not replying to us. They've caused huge loss in business for us over links that are now against google guidelines. I checked our links from the tools provided in webmaster tools and i can see some that are against google guidelines that have recently been spidered, however these links were built in 2008-09, long before the panda updates where this type of link would be classed as spammy.IS their anyone i can contact to speak with as clearly google are too big to care anymore or respond to such requests. http://www.cyberhostpro.com the responce ive got is | |

What's new with SEO in last 6 months?
Hi, I've been away from the SEO scene for about 6 months now. I was wondering if anyone could summerise what the big changes are and how one needs to approach an SEO strategy now compared to last year before this Penguine (?) update.

Randomly Displayed Text: Hidden text issue?
I want to add some script to my site so that a given page publishes a different paragraph of text every time the page loads. Something like randomly displayed testimonials (but with more text). So, when you look at the page source, you would see all the text (e.g testimonial-1, testimonial-2, etc.), but the user would only see one paragraph randomly. Would this be considered hidden text (one code for search engine, one for use)? Is there a safe number of words you can do this with without setting off red flags? I appreciate the help.
