9600 exact searches position 3 but only 125 clicks????
-
Seeing something a little strange on one of my clients sites.
They are position 3 in Google and the only result on the page Google Authorship installed on their site.
Exact match terms in the UK via Keywords tool are 9600 yet they only get 125 clicks on average for the month.
There rank has not changed in the last 3 months and they have had a solid position 3.

James,
Taking into account the numbers you get in the tool are far from exact and the traffic estimates that were extrapolated from AOL click through data released in 2006, your numbers could certainly be considered right on the mark. It's very surprising to recognize the difference in traffic between just a couple of places in the search results, isn't it!

I thought google changes the meta discriptions depending on what the user is searching for.
Is this not true in all cases then?
-
This is the problem I have had in the past,
If an authoritative site which everyone knows such as gov.uk ranks first position and the user can find the answer to their query on that site, you are out of luck.
You have to be #1 and that's a hard task when your fighting against wiki, gov.uk etc.
Without a doubt your search term is not a browsing term, I would be inclined to guess it's a question and your client is supplying an answer.
-
My first two thoughts:
-
Possibly #1 and #2 are answering the query. Without knowing the actual search term, it's hard to say.
-
The search term may not match the meta description or the description may be (sorry) just crappy. It's hard to say without the term and link of course.
If your description isn't catching visitors, my first thought would be to try changing it and just track next month vs. this month. If you want to either PM the actual data or if you can post it, we could look further into it but without that, there are many reasons it "could" be not getting clicks.

That's interesting. I checked out my webmasters account and it's similer for me. We're UK based as well.
Perhaps we just need to take these numbers with a pinch of salt.

Very relevant (perhaps only) original content disappears/doing very bad on google search
Hi I know this is a general question and there multiple like it. I've read a lot over the years, but can't figure it out. 1. The site in question is https://www.glj.io which had the above problem for years. I've recently revamped it and ready to try again. 2. The specific page is this one which is a review for laptop model G3 3579 from Dell. It was posted about two weeks ago, and it's still the only in-depth review in English, it seems. However, beyond the first 1-3 days, it's been lowered in rank and finally disappeared. That happened with other articles as well, over the years. 3. When searching, for example, for "Dell G3 3579 Review", another post of mine shows up in the 1/2 places - just a general short one mentioning the "G3" (this one), instead the full in-depth review. That it make no sense. 4. Currently, the review itself doesn't show up at all, not at page 2/3 (which is bad anyway) Can anyone shed some light on the situation? or offer pro services for it? It's very frustrating, basically making all my efforts go down in the dunk.. Much appreciated!

Optimising page for branded search terms
Hi, new to keyword research and have a question on branded search terms. I'm optimising the product pages of a manufacturer's site and assume that the primary keyword for each product page (and therefore the H1 header) should be a detailed product name e.g.'Aqua Power wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner'. Is it good practise to add the manufacturer's name to the beginning of a product title? I can't determine this by looking at search volume or competition for the two versions of the keyphrase as they are too low to get stats in both cases. Previous SEOs have set up the product titles on my pages without including the brand name but this seems to me to be loosing out on the opportunity to rank for both '[brand name] [detailed product name]' and '[detailed product name]' with the one keyphrase. On the other hand, this site only sells products from one manufacturer so maybe it looks fussy to include the brand name on every product title. I would of course add the manufacturer name to the page title e.g.'Aqua Power wet and dry cordless vacuum cleaner | cordless vacuum cleaner | [brand name]' so Google would be able to associate a brand with the product even if I didn't include it in my primary keyword. Thanks for any guidance on this!

What is the best way to research long tail search queries?
Hi, I am wondering if there is any special way to seek out long tail search queries? For example, when I search in Adwords or Ubersuggest for a particular group of keywords, I only ever seem to get 1 to 3 keywords. I am looking for the longer search terms like actual questions i.e. "Where is the best yoga studio in Doncaster?" Currently I rely on not hitting in Google in enter but I figure that there must be a better way? Thanks guys!

How to get search volume in Google's keyword planner
I want to know the search volume for ~1000 keywords that I discovered via ubersuggest. Yesterday I could have done this in 5 minutes, but I can't seem to get it to work in the new Google tool and would love some advice. When I either upload or copy and paste my list into the tool I can get it to give me search ideas with volume, but it has all the keywords I am uploading as 0 search volume (when I know that is not true and some of them have thousands of searches). I've tried "entering keywords to see how they perform" and also "searching for keyword ideas" (the second just because the first didn't try after my 10 tries) Any ideas about what I am doing wrong?

Broad Match and Exact Match
Using the keyword tool Ive noticed theres Exact match and Broad Match , Exact match is always way less . Is exact match only when a person puts the keyword in quotes? or is that the number of times when a person puts in the exact keyword. ? I see that google adwords only puts the broadmatch.

Is there any sites other then Google Insights which have cataloged search volume for particular queries over time?
I know Google Insights gives this data, but the fact that it's relative to overall search requests make it very difficult to see anything other then obvious trends (Toys sell better in November, go figure?). Each query I've looked up[ is showing degradation over time, but I'm postulating that this has more to do with search volume increasing then with the volume of my queries decreasing.
