Add Google + button link to google page and not link
-
Hello SEOOOOOOOOO moz people !
I was wondering if you know how can I add Google + button to my page
I tried to set it up in google page http://awesomescreenshot.com/08d1a9hmef
https://plus.google.com/b/109790526955470383191/109790526955470383191/posts
But i would like to link the button to my google + fan page https://plus.google.com/b/109790526955470383191/109790526955470383191/about and not the url of the page.
As our website is indeed 12 websites if you go to http://www.ibremarketing.com you don't have the same +1 than http://www.ibremarketing.com/me or http://www.ibremarketing.com/ma
Any idea of how to do it ?
It would be amazing

Nice to hear that and proud to help! nos vemos

Hello !
Tks a lot for your help Nathan and Cyrius. Now it's working fine (liking the page is adding a like in the fanpage and vice versa)
I did not change anything. Maybe Google just needed time.
Tks a lot
So the answer to my question would be: to use the google plugin linked to your website url and then setup properly your google page.
-
As far as I can tell you have everything set up correctly, and it's doubtful setting it up a different way will produce significantly different results, so I'd say you're good!
-
Hello !
So if I understand properly, we do not know why there is a slight difference between the +1 result into Google page and the one in our website ?
But wich one will you recommand to use ?
Tks a lot for your help !
-
Typically, if I understand correctly, the number of +1's on your Google+ profile closely reflect the # of +1s associated with the homepage of your website.
What's interesting is that Google reports 16 +1's to your homepage through thier API, which we can see through Open Site Explorer: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/pages.html?site=www.ibremarketing.com%2F
You have everything set up correctly as far as I can tell. Not sure why there is a difference. It could be because of caching or differences in the way the widget reports +1's from the web app. Regardless, the difference isn't enough to cause concern.
As far as helping you in rankings, to be honest the effect is likely small at this point. We know Google uses G+ to index new content, and it can play a significant factor in search personalization. At this point I would work on promoting yourself for more visibility, and eventually you'll may see the influence of Google+ shares.
Hope this helps! Best of luck.

I think that the answer to the re-question in your last reply is Yes.

Hello
Thanks for your help (Nathan also by the way ;p)
- On me company website I added a Google + Plugin.
- I link this one to my url www.ibremarketing.com
- My google page is properly linked to my website
However, I have 15 Google like on the website and just 12 on the google + page
So my question is: If i set up google plugin with the google page url will google understands that people are liking my website and use it improve my ranking ?
Right now it looks like the plugin is considering the google page different than my website url, even if both are linked together.
Hope you can give me a hand !
Tks a lot
Florian

Hi Flo,
Sorry, I've read through this thread twice, and I'm a little confused. Could you give an example URL, and possibly restate the question? More than happy to help.
Thanks.
-
Well... i'm not sure 100%
but I think that is better to have a community in G+ and link your url, but maybe i'm wrong
really i not tested two options face off... must to look this deeper...
-
Hello !
Can someone else give us a hand to be sure ?
-
You think it's better to link to google + then the page ?
Because I did the reverse. I link to the page (.com) and .com is supposed to be linked to the website.
Mum ... How can we be sure of that ?
-
Exactly Flo!!!
That's what I tried to say: Is not the same a "+1 to an URL" with a "+1 to a G+Page"
You can set it to your .com or set it to your G+Page url, To use both, you must use the Badge, not the Button
The best option I think is set the +1 to the Google Plus Page, and link it to your website url
Sorry for don't explain me clearly enough...
-
Hello Natan !
But it's strange because I see the code working fine
http://awesomescreenshot.com/01b1aaqpc0
However I do not see exactly the same on the page
http://awesomescreenshot.com/0471aaqb89
Do you think iit's considering the G page and my website page as different ?
-
Hi! (Mira, alguien que habla español, si en realidad somos muchos)
So... i don't know if you can improve the Badge onto your page, but i think is the better option if possible https://developers.google.com/+/web/badge/
Because it includes +1 to url and circles for the page
if not possible, you must decide what to do, because the button can be linked to an url, or to the url when it appears.
If set the box "URL to +1" with http://www.ibremarketing.com" i actually can see the 12 +1 you have
-
Hola !
No hay problema se puede solucionar en espanol tmb ! Ja jaja
But I saw he difference between both and as the website is linked to google + fan page http://awesomescreenshot.com/0451a9sld5 I think it would be better to G+ the page rather than the url (as i have 12 urls .com/me, .com/fr, etc.)
But I don't know how to set it up.
When I do it on google + page http://awesomescreenshot.com/06e1a9tfda https://developers.google.com/+/web/+1button/ I do not see the 12 current followers.
So in fact how to be sure than my google + code is weel linked to my google + and my google + page linked to my website and it's subfolders
Tks a lot !
(ps: I love valencia by the way :p)

Hi Flo! (first, sorry for my english, i try to improve it)
I think that maybe you are confusig the +1 to an url, with the +1 to a Google Plus Page.
In your page ibremarketing.com you have the button with +12 because 12 users done +1 to www.ibremarketing.com
If you set the +1 button to your G+'s page, the url is not "ibremarketing.com", being google.com/yourpagesid (the url that i can see you set up in the box URL TO +1 to test the script). This second url have not any +1 at this moment, and is a different one.
So, there are two major options: +1 your own website's url, or +1 the Google Plus Page and follow it on Google Plus.
Is simmilar to facebook likes. I can like a url and recommend it, or i can like a facebook fan page to follow it.
My suggestion is: left the +1 button to your website's url and use Badge option to let users follow your Google's Plus Page.
Or better: Set the +1 button to the G+ page, and link it officialy to www.ibremarketing.com
like this: (sorry if appears in spanish, must be in english too)
https://support.google.com/plus/answer/1713826?p=link_page_to_website&rd=1
I hope to be enough crearly in my explanation
See you

Best Practices for Google+
I have a client that has a decent following on Google+ on his personal account but his business profile doesn't have many people going to it. The law firm he owns has roughly 14 attorneys and all of them write for their blog. Since they are all new to Google+ except for him, I'm wondering what everyone things that the best practice is to get the information shared. When we post the information on his personal personal profile, he generally gets between 50 - 75 +1s and a dozen or so shares. If we put it on the business profile we don't get more than 10. The issue is when one of the attorney's that is new to G+ posts on their timeline and then we share it via the business, we then have to share it via the owners timeline to get any traction. We need to build followers for each of the attorneys new to G+, that's obvious, but what do we do in the mean time? Since the owner is also the brand, what is your suggestion of the best strategy?

Page Title restructuring
Hey Mozers! Surely you have noticed Google has been randomly restructuring our Page Titles to emphasize branding by placing the company/brand first, as opposed to after the "|" - a convention we had been accustomed to. I am wondering if the aforementioned warrants restructuring our client's (where branding is important) Page Titles as per Google's lead, or simply staying on the sidelines for now and letting Google do it? Anyone care to share their take on this? Thanks! Dino

Brand Search Results- how do you make sure spammy links don't hurt your brand
We are seeing a spammer start ranking #4 for our branded search result on google. This could potentially be hurting our brand. Any suggestions that have worked for you recently? For more context we already have: Create Social profiles (Linkedin, G+, FB etc) which are engaged and frequently updated Analyzed Domain Authority, Links and recency of the spammy article. The domain and the page authority seems weak, and the spammy article is dated Dec of last year Looked at various posts on http://moz.com/community/q/reputation-management. Thanks in advance!

Could product sample giveaways be seen as 'paying for links'?
One of our main methods of advertising for my startup business is by sending samples to bloggers for review. I've read a lot of good things about this method and many of my competitors use it very well - I've even seen it suggested on the Moz blog several times in the past. The one thing I do worry about is that Google may see this as a form of 'link purchasing', as I'm offering something in exchange for a link and some of the blog posts may reference that fact (or at least most likely use the word "Review" - Which could be some kind of footprint?).

We don't intend to ask for anchor texts, so at the very least that should look natural. What are your opinions? Could this be seen as paid linkbuilding or is it regarded as a natural marketing method? [EDIT]:
One idea we had was to potentially offer bloggers the chance to earn a portion of their purchase back by writing a review on their blog. They'd buy from us and let us know they have a blog, then we'd reimburse them some credit towards their next order for every blog post they write about us. Does this sound like a good idea or is this potentially more dangerous than simply offering free samples?0 -
Splitting our main website in Two... What is the fastest way for the new sites to become a brand in Googles eyes.
In a couple weeks our main website (which generates all of the revenue) will be split into two because of a long term branding / identity crisis. So my question is, how can i make sure (besides obvious 301 redirects) that these 2 new fresh urls become a brand as quick as possible in googles eyes? So far i am thinking of things like: press releases, blog posts with brand mentions. I am not ignorant and expect this to happen overnight, but we need a strong foundation to build on, which is why i am asking Anyone got a list / case study / advise so I can really blow it up on launch week? Thanks 🙂

Google Displays Domain / URL Above Description?
I am seeing a new SERP format from Google. (new for me at least) In the past the title tag would display as the first line of a listing, followed by description and domain / URL. Today I see the domain / URL as the second line. This is placing an emphasis on "Who". If you have a big brand or a great URL this might be helpful to your CTR. Are you seeing this? What do you think of it?
