How to select a quality site with SEOmoz root domain ranks for guest blogging?
-
Hi all!
I'm going to submit a few guest posts to several web sites. When I'm selecting a blog, to submit a post, I use SEOMoz root domain statistics ( specially DA).
I need to know what is the optimum rank level for select a good quality website to submit posts? Currently I use DA30 or higher sites. Is it a good?
Apart from that, what are the other criteria that I should check? Specially after the penguin 4 update?

Useless website; webmasters post cheap content to get a link.
No social engagement, ads everywhere... Even if the DA is 44, just forget this kind of website for guest posts.

If my mother landed on the site from Google, would she call me and complain about the crap that Google's indexing and why doesn't she get better results. That's one measure. Another would be is this site one you'd feel comfortable putting up on the projector in a meeting and saying that you got a link from them.

Thank you Erwan your information. Yes PR is a major factor. Could you please give me a clue to identify spammy sites? You mean copy paste blogs?

Thank you Matthew your information.

Matthew made a good point with social engagement.

1/ You could also look the PageRank. If you are PR 3, focus PR 3+ websites.
2/ Most important is the website himself. Does it look spammy or does it have a real content? Is it an interesting website? Is there affiliate links, text link or casino ads ?
If a website is new but has only high quality posts, it does not matter if DA is under 30 and PR still 0.
3/ A natural linking profile means also links from "low" websites, not only from PR3+ by example, especially for a new website.
Look the charts in this article : http://www.seowizz.net/2010/10/high-quality-links-dont-work-natural-profiles.html
You clearly see the natural/not natural profile :).

Often you can get a feel of the quality of a website from just looking at it.
Does it look professional? Would you be proud of hosting your content there?
Another thing to take into account is the user interaction that a website receives. A website may have a high DA but if the articles have no comments or social shares then it's unlikely the content is particularly credible. On the other hand, sites with lesser DA but interaction through comments and social shares is much more appealing to me.

NoFollow Links from Subdomain to root domain better than DoFollow Links?
Our service at fotograf.de is a shopsystem for professional photographers. The customers can build their own website with our tool including an onlineshop to sell their pictures. Here is my question: One part of the customers use subdomains of our site like photographers.fotograf.de. On each customer website we include a backlink to our homepage www.fotograf.de. From SEO view is it better to set these links as NoFollow Links? Or should we put one Follow Link on the starting page on each site and on the other pages only NoFollow Link? Are these links bad for our SEO regarding link diversity because they all come from one root domain? Thanks for the answers! Sebastian

Is Rank Tracker still down?
I have been trying to use Rank Tracker but it still appears to be down. The following message is displayed which dates from 5th September and suggests it would take around a week to get it working. "Due to a server failure, we are experiencing a delay in Rank Tracker results this week. Unfortunately, it may take up to a week to get it working properly again. Thanks for your patience and understanding; our engineers are working around the clock to get this issue fixed. - Updated September 5th." It is now 17th September and I am still unable to use it. Just wondering whether this is the same situation for all or whether SEOMoz have an update on when we can expect this to be up and running. Thanks.

Why are we no longer ranking #1 for our brand on the SEOMoz web app?
Been noticing these anomalies for some time now. I'm from eVenues.com and we've found the rank tracker extremely useful to see how our campaigns are doing. I noticed however that we no longer show up in the app as ranking for our brand? I know that results differ according to location and a myriad other variables but I think we're pretty strong as far as our brand name is concerned. I did a quick double check in incognito and, yep, we're still ranking... Any ideas on this?

Why did SEOMoz only crawl 1 page?
I have multiple campaigns and on a few of them SEOMoz has only crawled one page. I think this may have to do with how I set up the campaign. How do I get SEOMoz to crawl more than one page on these campaigns.

Why would PA be 1 (0 links from 0 root domains) if it's linked to internally?
Question just about said it all: I've seen a number of pages on sites that have a PA of 1 (with the metrics being 0 links from 0 root domains) when I can see on the site that it is linked to internally - from the main nav (which is CSS, not Javascript) and also from the footer, if not other places. Why would this be? Update: upon looking further at the site, it appears that there's some kind of redirect going on, where the page linked to from the nav actually redirects to the real page. Would that eliminate PA, even if it's a 301? And additionally, is whatever is causing this lack of PA a reflection of how Google would relate to the page? Thanks, Aviva
