Removing spam back links (Using GWM and SEOMOZ)
-
Hi,
I have noticed that I have got some unwanted spammy back-links. I want to get rid of them. From what I read on Internet, there are two ways to doing it.
- Using disavow tool in GWM.
- Contacting individual webmaster and asking them to remove the mentions or links.
I have already added the links in the disavow tool and Google has accepted the request.
Is it necessary to ask those webmasters to remove the link as well?

Google says that you should use the disavow tool as a last resort after asking the webmasters to remove the links, and even then only if you think it's hurting your rankings.
I obviously can't tell without looking at your links, but I see a lot of people worrying about spam links when they probably shouldn't be. It's normal to get some less-than-perfect links in your profile, and they're probably not going to hurt you if you aren't building them yourself.

From what I know both will work. And from some info they both work just about the same time as Google still has to index those websites again. Will they do it and the link is not found or will they disavow it, that's just a matter of perspective. From a safety point of view the manual deletion is the 100% safe way they are removed, but disavow tool is the perfect action against those links if you don't wish to waste time to remove something you haven't created in the first place. Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for the answer. Well. To be precise my question was
Does using "Disavow Tool" can solve my problem or I have to contact the webmasters asking them to remove the links and the mentions personally.
-
Hello! That honestly depends on the level of paranoia you have and the need to remove them manually so they don't show up anywhere. From my experience it's best to disavow them, wait a few weeks for the algorithm to refresh and move on! And bear in mind, one solid, healthy and authoritative link will serve almost enough juice that dozens of low quality spam links will not be valued at all. This is the case with today's link building, you always have the issue of getting a 50-60 spammy links just through some low quality bookmarking website scraping content from other sites of the same nature. Thanks!

Remove Old Poor Quality Links Proactively?
I'm working with an ecommerce site where various predecessors have created 5 Wordpress.com blogs containing 5 links on each back to the site. Should I disavow those links and take down those sites if I can get access? Should I close a second YouTube channel and Google Plus account under another name set up to create links back to the site? No penalties yet. Advice much appreciated.

I want to design SEO link building strategy for my website? Is wordpress.com, squidoo, tumblr, blogger, typepad - Good option for link building?
I am currently concentrating on 8 keywords, for e.g (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H). I will be writing blogs with 2 of any related keywords present in it. I am thinking to post 5 blogs on 5 different platforms as (wordpress.com, Squidoo, Typepad, Tumblr, blogger) respectively. I am thinking a strategy as: Monday: Keyword A,B on Wordpress/ C,D on Squidoo/E,F on Typepad/G,H on Blogger/ A,C on Tumblr. Tuesday:C,D on Wordpress/E,F on Squidoo/ etc.... and will rotate these keywords through out the week and the cycle restarts on Monday. The URL for every keyword will be different and relevant to that keyword. I need quick suggestion on this topic..Please..

What are the pros and cons of using a link builder? Can link building be outsourced?
Hi, I have great content on my website which I would like to build external links to from other websites. I am told this will increase my domain authority and ultimately help search engine ranking positions. I have very limited time in my hands and now thinking of outsourcing the link building component to a specialist. Is this a good way of doing it? Could you recommend professional link builders?

So I ran into a site that was not ranking 4 days ago and has over 2 million links to it on some keywords. My guess is this is a link bomb, but the issue is this is pushing one of my sites down. Does anyone know a good way to over come a bomb like this?
So I ran http://www.riogrande.com/ into this site not that long ago and wanted to see if any other SEO's have an opinion on it. I've seen a Google bomb before, but the amount of links going into this URL is insane. The thing is how does one over come a Google Bomb? Do you just wait to see what Google does or do you just hope to rank under that URL? I should also note that it appears that all the keywords to it are relevant to the sites content. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Is there way to identify all back links throughout a site or do I have to check one site page at a time? Thanks!
Sorry if it is obvious, but I can't seem to figure it out. I'd like to be able to run a report that will list all of the back links on every page of my site.

Recognizing a back link
Have you conducted or know of any research/studies that examines when the inherited value of a backlink is actually attributed to the detination url? Meaning if abc.com links to xyz.com today with a unique long-tailed anchor tag, at what point would Google actually recognize the value of that link to xyc.com (ie increasing in the SERPs for that anchor). My first inclination would be at the point of indexation of the link but from my own casual analysis, I havent proved this to be true. Obviously we dont know exactly how google does this, but have you drawn any conclusions based upon your own findings? Perhaps there's a period of link evaluation post indexation before passing value in terms of ranking relevance? thanks!
