UK & Ireland Websites displaying same page differently in serps
-
Hi there,
I have a Magento Enterprise store based in the UK and we have an Irish version which we created after finding an increasing amount of traffic from Ireland.
One thing that I don't understand, is that if I search for one keyword on Google, the websites are displayed differently, when effectively they are identical websites.
Here is how a result looks like for my UK store: http://i.imgur.com/NKSt4Qq.png
And here is how a result looks like for my IE store: http://i.imgur.com/Cynv8Mz.png
They both have the same Meta description, barring a few geographical words and terms. Both have on page descriptions as well as products. Yet the IE results display the description and the UK results display products and a tiny snippet of the description.
Any ideas on how I can make my UK pages display like the IE one? Or, just why they are both displayed differently?
Thanks

Hi Tom,
Do you have any mark up data in place on the UK site?
It just seems curious that it is pulling the product data for the UK site and not IE. It could be the case the the mark up data is not in place on the IE site or if it is that Google has yet to implement this data in the search results.

Creation of Landing Pages. Subdomain or something else?
Hi, I have an issue deciding how my landing pages should be like and I would like to ask for your help. Currently my landing pages are configured and presented like this: http://www.example.com/fra/Landing75.php?t_src=example&t=AFF&t_cre=keyboard-price&t_trm=160o600&B=1496&A=371&TargetURL= I would like to know if making a subdomain landing page is advised, maybe something like this: http://LandingPage.example.com/Landing75.php?t_src=example&t=AFF&t_cre=keyboard-price&t_trm=160o600&B=1496&A=371&TargetURL= Or if you suggest doing something else with my landing pages - I would like to know that as well. p.s. - How I tell the webmasters (my affiliates) to make a clickable button that won't be a direct link to my landing page but will be some form of non-visible redirect? Thanks in advance 🙂

My website disappears off google!
So this might be kinda of a weird question... Every morning and night I check the ranking of a website that I am building.. The ranking has gone up a lot the last two months. It went from the fifth page to now the second page. I have a issue where some days I check Google my website is completely gone! I go through every page for my keyword and it's not there! After a couple of days of frustration I check again and all of a sudden it is there but now at a higher ranking... I went through the code to make sure there's a not a not follow code in the robots.txt page... Btw another weird thing is so then I look up my website on a google out of country like google.sg and I'm ranking first page like number 5 but again disappeared off google usa. Literally driving my crazy.. does anyone know why this could be? Btw the first time it disappeared I went into webmasters and sent a request because I thought I got penalized but they responded they could not find any spam and I was NOT penalized...

Any Good Study on the Effects of CTR on Keyword Capitalization in SERP Description
Hey Guys I am wondering if any of you have done any study or testing on this ( or perhaps you might have come across one at some point in your career ) Personally I feel that while adding a description , it makes sense to Capitalize the Keywords and other words ( first letter only ) that I want to emphasise on ( perhaps stuff like Buy, High Quality, Best, etc ) . I want to pick your brains on this and see what you guys think about it. I have not tested the effects on CTR yet .. if someone else has then it will be a good resource for me to go through. ( and if no one else has done any relevant study I might do it at some stage ). Regards Saijo

Is it possible to know if visitor arrived at the web page via organic search and if so, show some content?
Hello, Is it possible to know if visitors are arriving at a web page via organic search? Background: We have a section of job description pages to explain typical tasks. These have very high bounce rate (some 100%), and I think people are confusing them with actual jobs. For example "stage designer". Many of those keyword we have very high rankings. I am thinking of having a small notice at the top of those page to say something like "if you are stage designer job, check out our job section". Thanks

Would you say it is more bennificial to seperate keywords in the title tag tag of a page using a common ( keyword , keyword | Domain.com) or using a hyphen as SEOmoz best practices reccommends (keyword - keyword | domain.com)?
Title tag best practices according to seomoz is the following keyowrd - keyword | brand.com but I have seen some interesting results from using a comma as to a hyphen to seperate keywords as reccomended and wanted to know which method is more crawler friendly.

SERPs changing on an hourly basis
Hi Mozzers, Can anyone help me please. I have a client that is ranking in position 2 for his major keyword in G.co.uk. He's been moving up but over the last 7 - 10 days he's moved down, then back up and around and around the front page which we all know can happen. The thing is - this is changing through the day 4 or 5 times in some cases. I've checked when the first page of the SERPs have been indexed via the cached button and normally Google hasn't crawled the competition or my guys site on the given day the changes happen, yet he's been 2, 5 and 7 and back to 2 in about 3 hours. Are these social signals do you think? whats going on - any ideas? Cheers Bush
