Hello.
I am having some back-links to my site that look like:

http://site.com/page.html**?source=a**
http://site.com/page.html**?source=b**

I assume these two will have two different ranks, is this issue fixed if I use canonical on the landing page?

Yes, the canonical tag is a good use for this situation, so that Google can consolidate links/metrics/equity under one URL. Just remember to implement it correctly, like the following example:

Struggling to re-rank website

A client of ours - www.helenbattphotography.com - was ranking well for local keywords. However, the rankings started to drop as of January this year (slowly) and quite considerably since May. We have not had any Google penalties. To date we have gone through backlinks and removed a few low quality/dubious links that were built around 5 years ago by another agency the client was using and also disavowed some others. This was done around 2 months ago. No impact to date. The website is hovering around page 4 and 5 for the keywords that it used to rank for on page 1 for. We are really struggling to increase the rankings for this client. We have introduced good, unqiue content to the site - not that this was ever really a problem on the site - but this has also made little difference. Would be great to get some feedback on the site and any obvious pointers that we might be missing here - a case of not being able to see the wood through the trees. Thanks

Can anyone help with the relative merits of these, which are useful, which aren't and whether for instance you would substitute more of one for less of another? Why have my rankings suddenly plummeted?

My site has been ranking well for the last couple of weeks on it's primary term "glee fansite" and now the rankings literally plummeted 5 days ago and now it is around 22 for "glee fansite" and many of it's other terms have just dropped out completely! I have a Question about open site explorer.Specifically the top pages tab

When i hover the little question mark icon it says "target the best pages to maximize link building.See top pages on the subdomain according to Page authority." Make a new page or more links to existing page for 2nd keyword?

We have a page optimized for 'blue widgets'. We rank in organic spot #3 or 4 for that (moves around from week to week). Fairly happy with that. We have another derivative term 'blue widgets small' (example, but it's same format: <original phrase="">+ <single word="">) where we currently rank #6 organic in Google when people search on the 3 word phrase.</single></original> We'd like to rank higher than #6 for the 3 word phrase. Should we: (1) Build a bunch of links with anchor text equal to the 3 word phrase and point to the existing page (which is optimized on-page for the first 2 of the 3 words) or (2) Make a new page optimized for the 3 word phrase and then start building links to it with anchor text equal to the 3 words (and non-cannibalizing variants of the 3 words)? The 2 word phrase is pretty competitive and it has taken us months to get that page to be #3 or 4 organic for that phrase. The 3 word phrase is much less competitive and we don't think it would take that long to make a dedicated page rank higher than #6 for the 3 words. Suggestions? Thanks.

Keywords Ranking Secret?

When I searched "long dresses" in Google.com, and found the following page is ranked on top 10 http://www.shopstyle.com/browse?fts=long+summer+dresses But there is no back link pointing to this page, so why does this company manage to rank high for such a competitive keyword without link building? Any opinions?
