Google and Pinterest which way to verify

My objective (I think) is to let Google know I have a Pinterest Business page and see the links going from Pinterest to my website. Pinterest has provided me with a meta tag to verify my site but I'm thinking I need to be going the opposite direction. I should be placing a meta tag provided by Google on my Pinterest page.
Is it possible to add a meta tag to my Pinterest Business page? Or does it really matter whether Pinterest verifies my website or Google verifies my Pinterest Business page?

Google is the Eye of Sauron so don't worry about having to tip them off to your Pinterest page... they can see the interconnection and traffic. If you have Google Analytics set up for your site, you should be able to see all that lovely traffic coming from Pinterest in Traffic Sources > Sources > Referrals.

You'll want to verify Pinterest just as the instructions say. Google doesn't actually use the Pinterest verification for anything - verifying just allows you to link to your domain from your Pinterest profile - google's gonna crawl and index it either way.
So google will know the link is there, but honestly, don't count on social profile links like this making much of a difference for SEO. However, if you're active and connected on that network, pinterest can sure drive some referral traffic to your site. Hope that helps! -

I think you have mixed things up a bit! You can verify your website with pinterest by uploading a file or adding a meta tag to your html. It gives you that nice little check mark next to your domain name and is easy to do, it also gives you access to some pinterest specific analytics (maybe that is where the confusion has arisen?). Google does not need you to 'verify' you pinterest page to see links and record visits from pinterest to your site in GA.

Backlinks on Moz not on Google Search Console
Moz is showing thousands of backlinks to my site that are not showing up on Google Search Console - which is good because those links were created by some spammer in Pakistan somewhere. I haven't yet submitted a disavow report to Google of well over 10K links because the list keeps growing every day with new backlinks that have been rerouted to a 404 page. I have asked Google to clarify and they put my question on their forum for an answer, which I'm still waiting for - so I thought I'd try my luck here. My question... If Moz does not match Google Search Console, and backlinks are important to results, how valid is the ranking that Moz creates to let me know how I'm doing in this competition and if I'm improving or not. If the goal is to get Google to pay attention and I use Moz to help me figure out how to do this, how can I do that if the backlink information isn't the same - by literally over 10 000 backlinks created by some spammer doing odd things... They've included the url from their deleted profile on my site with 100s of other urls, including Moz.com and are posting them everywhere with their preferred anchor text. Moz ranking considers the thousands of spam backlinks I can't get rid of and Google ignores them or disavows them. So isn't the rankings, data, and graphs apples and bananas? What weight can 1 huge inbound backlink carry and how long does it take for Google to recognize
My DA is only 22. I got a beautifully crafted dofollow backlink from a site with a DA of 94 and an AHrefs rank of 98 (the 98th most valuable domain in the world) 2 parter- 1. How much do you think one link like that will affect my DA and rankings? (i understand this is subjective - looking more for opinions) 2. How long before MOZ and Google Search Console see the link? It has been 10 days and the link is not showing up on either yet. I know the best thing to do is put my head down and keep building links rather than focusing on "when" and "how much" but I'm getting antsy and curious for the community's opinion. Thanks, Ryan

I'm including my google author details at the bottom of guest posts with a link to my site. Is this not giving google a clear signal the that it is a guest post by me and although the site owner has found it worthy enough to include the post on their site it's not really an 'editorially given link' in the true sense of the term?

Does google really care if anchor text is the "brand name"?
I have read a lot about how it is a good idea to build links with your "brand name" as the anchor text. I am somewhat skeptical about all this. I suspect that the only thing that you need to do is have a wide variety of anchor text, some no follow links, and some links without any anchor text at all or just your URL. IDoes anyone have an opinion on this? Also I am somewhat confused about what a "brand name" is anyway. Obviolusly it applies to words like "Apple Computers" or seomoz but can I "make" my own name, i.e. Paul W. Matthews, into a "brand Name" aulby putting it in the title of my home page and just using it a lot as anchor text? If yes, is this a good idea? thanks, Paul

Why does opensiteexplorer tell me I have 292 linking domains and google webmasteer tools says 528?
Does anyone have any idea why opensiteexplorer has a specific number of linking domains while google webmaster tools say another? I understand opensiteexplorer needs to update itself, but I have seen this discrepancy for months! Any ideas?
