SaaS Landing Page Copy
-
Hi
We have a SaaS online invoicing software website. We want to optimize our landing page for conversion. Everything we read about conversion says
- Big H1 Copy, short, precise and catchy.
- 3 bullet points
and thats it. Very very little copy.
Question is is this bad for our SEO. Will google rank our home\landing page if we do not have lots of natural keyword copy?
SEO and CRO are conflicting here aren't they?
Thanks

Studio,
The kinds of landing pages you're likely reading about are PPC landing pages, which aren't tailored for organic rankings. If you're talking about an organic landing page, you do need to treat it like any other page you want to earn traffic from search--and you have to optimize for conversions too. That's one of the reasons squeeze pages became popular--they contain a lot of content and draw the visitor in to convert them.
When you think about Moz's home page, and factor in the number of links there are that point to it, there is probably no amount of on-page content that could outweigh the forces of the anchor text in those links. That's to say that moz doesn't have to rely on content to provide relevance for its home page.
-
Essentially, I think you are asking is, let say... moz did an a/b test on their homepage with a as the page left as is and made the b page with more copy, then which one would rank higher for the main keyword? (assuming they could compete against each other for ranking? and the extra copy is not necessary related to the keywords?)
I don't think B would rank better, but it is impossible to say for certain
I would think that eventually the page that converts better would develop stronger signals to google than the on-page copy to separate it from the worse converting page -- more conversions, better metrics, (maybe more links?) etc. that also get folded in to the algo.
-
Thanks. This is my point though if you look at www.moz.com there is hardly any copy at all.
If for example Moz and "another site" where equal in all other way links PR etc. They had the same amount of keywords on thier landing page. But the "other site" had more copy, would google rank Moz or the "other site" higher?

I think that when ppl say very little copy on landing pages is because you want the landing page to be all about conversion as to not distract the visitor from the task at hand. For instance, if you have a landing page geared towards email sign-up, you don't want 5000 words and then a box at the bottom to capture the email. You want as simple as possible -- maybe just the email capture box.
Obviously if your home page is used for conversion there are ways to maximize SEO -- good title tags, you need to include copy - but always keep in mind the goal of the page, and if you have good user metrics that gets folded in as well.
I don't think it is one or the other: SEO vs. CRO. You can learn a lot just by looking at the Moz.com homepage.

Do the clickable images on pages are bad that they will increase bounce rate and distract users?
Hi Moz community, I'm trying to get some helpful answers on this. We are planning to employ clickable images on our website pages which opens in new tab if users click on them. This is to make sure that they can see the large screenshots of our product. I wonder will this increase the bounce rate and drop the rankings. Please share your experience and guidance on this. Thanks

Overlay / modal for product pages - bad or good for SEO?
Hi all, I am considering using full overlays/modals for an e-commerce site for all our product pages (category/listing pages will be "normal", the product page will come over the listing page as an overlay/modal when you click on the product). Those “product overlays” will also be accessible directly with own URL (if need to be linked to for ex.). All the literature I find out there treats overlays and modals as “marketing” ones (ads, sign-ups, etc.) and is generally critical to overlays when it comes to SEO, while also saying that an overlay that has to do with good UX should not hurt the SEO of our site. What do you think? Will all product pages as overlays be considered as good UX by the search engines and therefore not be negatively impacted, SEO speaking? Or should we stay clear of overlays and create “normal” product pages? Thanks in advance! Arnaud NB: The reason we want to create those overlays are for design and UX purposes, and try to increase our conversion rate.

Should I link from an optimised product image to the product page from a blog post?
If I am writing a blog post about a product, or a number of products, and I'm including optimised images of the product, should I link from the images to the product page in the shop? Usually I remove links from images as they lead visitors to a simple image page but could it be worth linking from an optimised image to a product? Thanks in advance.

Adwords Remarketing Advice - Low Traffic Pages
Moz, I am just looking for a little advice if anyone has any experience with Google Adwords and remarketing in particular, I am currently looking through the Adwords help pages to gain a better understanding of how Adwords remarketing works, from what i gather this can be a really useful resource to use in certain industries and i have a lot of ideas and scenarios where i think this could work really well, I am just trying to get a good understanding of the how remarketing lists are built up, Using Rule based targeting for visitors that have visited a specific page that gains roughly 1200 unique visits every 60 days, so i have set the membership duration to 60 days, So if i use the visit of this page as a rule for my list, then in a little less than 60 days time then my custom ads should start appearing to these previous visitors ? My Question Am a right in thinking the remarketing list is like a funnel, once 1000 visitors are added to this list/funnel then my ads will start showing, but then as those visitors in the funnel have reached the 61st Day they will be removed, and replaced with the new visitors being added to the list for that day ? Aslong as my list remains above 1000 visitors it will continue to show, but if i were to drop below 1000 visits within that 60 days my ads would not be visible ? so i would need to potentially extend the membership period if this happens ? Apologies as i really struggled to explain this question as best as i can 🙂 Hope someone can drop me a quick comment and straighten this out to ensure that i am on the right track and i am understanding this correctly 🙂 Thanks a lot James

How To Rank Landing Pages In The SERPs
Hi, am hoping someone can give me a little advice.. We have created an Ebook for a client, which we will ‘hide’ behind a landing page for the purpose of collecting email addresses in return for a link to the Ebook. We are thinking of using Unbounce landing pages, integrated with Mailchimp. The problem however is that I’m assuming it will not be possible for Unbounce landing pages to rank well in the SERPs.. which is essential. The obvious solution would be to write a blog post detailing the contents of the Ebook, and then to ‘SEO’ this post.. this however will not provide a positive user experience as below; Visitor lands on blog post Visitor then has to click through to Ubounce landing page (very similar content) Visitor completes form to download Ebook My question is; What’s the best way to rank a direct landing page in the SERP’s, whilst providing the best possible user experience (less steps)? Many thanks in advance, your time is appreciated 🙂 Lee.

Sales pages or one site?
New client in the pensions market and they want to launch a new product. There are They have asked for a site build but my question is Is there a benefit to writing unique copy for this one product on each micro site/sales page and focus on a particular keyword, with an email capture for lead generation and also a link back to the main site. Buy domains with targeted keywords in them : www.workplacepensions.co.uk www.auto-opt-in-pensions.co.uk etc? Thoughts please as it will change my proposal 😉

Proper Landing Pages for PPC ads
One of our sites is for a local Promotional Products company that focuses on local big businesses to set up accounts with. We are trying to grow our customer base with this site through use of a PPC campaign, but are unsure of where to send them. We were thinking about a page with content about what we do and our contact information, or putting together videos with this information to send them to. Does anyone have any advice for a killer landing page that not only is good for getting conversions for promotional products through PPC, but also could get us organic traffic? Thanks in advance for the help!

Landing Page Conversion Rates
I had a client claiming his industry (replacement home windows) conversion rate was around 15% based on his research. In my research i could find nothing of the sort, and really couldn't find a single place that provided this type of information. Anyone out there have some advice on where to research industry conversion rates (averages) or tools/thought processes to explore? Thanks! (these stats would primarily be used for goal setting and competitive analysis)
