Does PA matter much on blogs like tumblr, wordpress.com?
-
I've been exploring setting up pages on these type of sites. When searching for key words I've discovered the following...
If a sites DA id let's say 83, the root domain you create is also an 83 (not 100% but most I've looked at)
The PA starts at 1, but there seem to be a lot of these blog sites that rank for my key word searches even though the PA is a 1.
So...
I was wondering the value of attempting the get the PA of mine greater than one with back links. The blog page will link to the corresponding page on my main site.
Is it worth the time, or PA in this case is not really much of a ranking factor in creating link juice? What I'm asking is that will a page on let's say joemastriano.blogspot.com/ (whatever) get more link juice to the page i link it to if the PA was 25 and not 1?

I'm beginning to agree with you, I have acquired many links in the past that carry little weight in the metrics. Then I did a lot of comments on do follow related newspapers like WSJ and Huffington post, and my DA took a nice boast from all the new decent root domains connecting to my site.

Short answer, yes. The more PA a page has, the more link juice it can distribute. Here's a comment and blog post from Rob Ousbey from that helps explain it (2009): http://www.seomoz.org/blog/using-small-website-to-create-a-bigger-impact
"I think that domain diversity has been more important of late, which implies that links from two domain are better than one link that is superficially twice as strong. Of course, we must remember that mozRank and PageRank do both work on an exponential scale with base about 8 - 10. Also, that the number of links on a page affects the strength passed."

Reposting Blog posts on 3rd party sites
We have a few informational blog posts that are valuable to some readers. We have posted them in our blog but were contemplating posting them on 3rd party blogging websites such as Blogger, Squidoo, etc.. Ideally we would continue to maintain these accounts with multiple blog posts, but would all be reposts of the original blog. These are not half english blog posts just hoping to gain a better Google rank. They will provide value to the readers who might not be finding their way to our website directly. Is posting these blog posts on the 3rd party websites, linking back to the original article and maybe some products that are related to the specific document going to negatively affect our rankings due to the duplication of the content?

How can I optimize the Wordpress "read more" link?
What is the correct way to work with “read more” links in Wordpress? I have a Wordpress blog where I use in each post a read more link (posts with long content), in other words, in the home page each post has two links to the full post, this is good for the usability of my blog. I show actually 10 posts on the home page, this results in 10 links of post title and 10 links of read more = 20 links. I have 10 repeated links on the home page. My read more links have customized text, links to the permalink without #more, links dofollow. In this way that I’m using read more links, Am I diluting the link juice of my blog? Is it correct to use nofollow in internal links trying to manipulate the link juice of my site?

Guest blogging on a "network" of sites. Good or BAD?
Hi guys! We have the opportunity to guest blog on a network of sites. Basically, this is a syndicated network of sports blogs (around 200) that all link to each other. They own and operate a blog for each major sports franchise. They each average a DA around 60, but almost all of their link equity comes from blogs they own and operate.... My question is this, should we take the opportunity to create editorial content with links back to our site. This would not be paid side or footer links, but real content relevant to their blog and our industry. On a side note; All of these site have a very decent DA and show up well in Google... Thanks for any advice!!!

Re april 5th post on over optimization - need clarification blogging
I mainly do content creation for clients .e.g. site and blog on word press - then link the blogs to the related static page. I have been just linking to the static page using keywords that match the title tag keywords. Is that correct?

New Blog
Hello, We have an online soccer equipment retail store (http://www.soccerstop.com) that we have been working on to get higher ranking results in many different areas of specific product pages, as well as our general homepage for several years. SeoMoz has been an excellent addition for us to learn and analyze, etc. In addition to our current PPC, and SEO efforts, we are going to create a blog as we have many thoughts, opinions and interesting information for what hopefully will be a good sized audience of soccer enthusiasts! We currently have a person who goes on other soccer blogger websites and offers our thoughts and expressions, but we now want to give our own blog. My thought is to create a subdirectory of our domain something like: http://www.soccerstop.com/blog as that seems what is recommended in many posts here in this forum. I am also thinking of using wordpress blog as it also seems recommended. We have a lot of ideas about content, and feel we will bring people to our blog in various ways through our existing and coming customers at the retail online store. However, it seems to get the best backlink performance possible out of our new blog, we need to join blog networks to get our blogs posted on outside third party websites. Is this right, and where would I begin to understand and start this process? I understand the first step is to get our blog started, but I want to foundationally have an idea where we are going with this as we build. This way it is built in a sound way, ready to be as effective as possible! Please understand I am a builder and not the blogger, which is why the structure and initial setup of syndication is so important to me! Thanks for any advice.

Hi All, We have some partners which link to our site, and they put "?ref=SITENAME" so we Can identify the source of the link....but does this matter to the search engines? Does this count as a different page than the one without the query string? -Rasmus
