Direct is taking over my SEO traffic in Mobile iOS and Android Devices
-
WIth all the buzz of mobile has anyone taken a look to dig into the SEO traffic by device (desktop vs mobile). Well I did and surprising my desktop trend was not even close to mobile traffic. Surprising to know that due to the security updates in iSO and Android organic traffic (traffic with out tracking codes) is getting bucket into Direct. (Yes we all know Direct traffic is dirty dirty label traffic that analytics platforms can identify.)http://www.rimmkaufman.com/blog/estimating-google-organic-search-visits-hidden-by-ios-6/17122012/http://www.definemg.com/recover-your-android-4-and-ios-search-traffic/ Feels like SEO is receiving no love... didn't we have enough with Google encryption, we didn't get the keyword but at least got the referral! Have you notice in your traffic and what are you doing about it?

Thanks for your feedback Eric.
Yes I wont be surprise the percent of mobile affected traffic depends by industry and website type as we been affect by 5-8% drop SEO traffic going to Direct. I was actually interested in opening the conversation on how SEOs are dealing with this matter when reporting SEO performance metrics or any alternatives to go around.

Greetings Patricia,
I've also seen this trend. Many of the sites that I and my team members work on have experienced upticks on direct traffic while organic traffic has dropped. This has been unfortunate, but it hasn't been a significant amount, perhaps 1%. I did some research this week on several clients (and removed any info about the clients); I'd be happy to share it with you. Feel free to reach out directly to me evallee@topfloortech.com.

Did you take the industry survey?
Hello! We'd love to provide actionable data about the online marketing industry to our community, but we need your help! If you'd like to contribute, and help us get an in-depth look at online marketing, take the survey! Side note: we did several usability tests on the survey, and we average at 11:15 to complete the survey. Not too shabby! Jackie

SEO Risks for redirecting sites
Hey Everyone, I've tried searching for this question, but am not exactly sure what keywords to search for so I'm probably missing the resources if they already exist... My client has had duplicated sites for years, and after multiple penalizations of those sites I was finally able to convince him to consolidate them into a "mega-site". Currently, he has a main domain, a geo-subdomain for each office location under the main domain, and a geo-domain for each office location. We plan on redirecting each geo-domain to the corresponding geo-subdomain. So, the final result will be one main domain, and a sub-domain for each office location. I'm looking for any information regarding tracking SEO data after the redirects are in place, how to guard against potential drops in SERPs, what's the smartest strategy to implement, etc... My client is very sensitive to his sites' SEO data, so if anyone has any SEO-related advice regarding redirecting sites it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Local SEO Agency Suggestions
I've looked under the "recommended companies" tab of seomoz, but all of the SEO Agencies listed seem to be geared towards big businesses. Most of their contact pages have starting budgets that are way out of my league. I do my own web-development and on-site SEO, but due to the demands of my job, I do not have the time needed to focus on link-building, and any other kind of content marketing (other than occasional guest blogging). Can anyone recommend an individual or agency that can start with a $500 - $600 monthly budget and move up from there? My search terms are local to my city, and not all that competitive, just looking for someone who can help. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

How to pick an SEO pro?
I run a community site that has over 1 million pages of user-generated content specific to a very defined vertical. I recently switch to the Drupal CMS and have paid the price in the search rankings. I need to find someone to help with my site's SEO efforts. What should I be looking for when selecting an SEO professional?
