Linking Between Domains

My company has a main xxx.com website and geo-specific subsites - xxx.co.uk, xxx.es, etc...
We link to each of the subsites from the menu, however it also makes sense from a content perspective to link between the sites on internal pages. However, in this video Matt Cutts seems to discourage this - http://searchengineland.com/googles-matt-cutts-linking-20-domains-together-likely-a-cross-linking-scheme-167089
Do you think its worthwhile to keep the inter-site linking to just the menu or okay (or even helpful) to link between the different sites.

I don't hesitate to link between one of my sites and another when the site that is being linked to has strong content that will provide further information of interest to the reader. I don't have a lot of these links. Just a few. I could count them on my fingers. I would hesitate to place footer links, blogroll links or other copious amounts of links between my own site. Those are not offering specific guidance to the visitor. I also have an information site where I run banner ads that click to a retail site that I own. These banner ads compete with Adsense on the basis of value using the DFP ad server. If you have any concerns about the links between your sites you can always add "nofollow".

I would never ask someone to disagree with Matt!
I was more asking based on Matt's video if linking between sites should be discouraged even if it would be beneficial to users or if it should be avoided because has negative SEO ramifications.

Moving from single domain to multiple CCTLDs
Hi, I have a website targeting 3 markets (and therefor 3 languages). I was currently using a single domain with each market being targeted in the following format: www.website.com/pl

www.website.com/hu It's clear to me by looking at organic results, that in my industry (Real Estate) Google is putting a large emphasis on local businesses and local domains. Top 10 organic results for all my keywords in all markets have country specific CCTLDs. I decided to migrate from a single domain strategy to a multi domain strategy. I own the domains. The new structure is www.website.com/pl -> www.website.pl
www.website.com/de -> www.website.de
www.website.com/hu -> www.website.hu All the website have been added to google search console and 301 redirects are in place and working correctly. The pages are all interlinked and have rel=alternate to each other. The sitemaps are all done correctly. My question is how do I tell Google about this. The change of address feature only works for changing one domain to one other domain. It's been a week and the old www.website.com domain is still showing up (even considering 301 redirects). Or do I just need to be patient and wait it out? Any tips?0 -
International Link Building Vendors
I'm working with a large enterprise site with many international domains. I have most of the markets covered but am having trouble identifying link building specialists/vendors in APAC - specifically Japan and Korea. Any recommendations from the community? Many thanks in advance!

Shall I automatically redirect international visitors from www.domain.com to e.g. www.domain.com/es? What is best SEO practice?
We have chosen the one domain approach with our international site having different language versions in subdirectory of main domain:
International SEO | | lcourse
www.domain.com/es
www.domain.com/it
etc. What is SEO-wise best practice for implementing international index pages. I see following options: entering www.domain.com will display without redirection the index page in language of user (e.g based on IP or browser) in www.domain.com
Example: www.booking.com entering www.domain.com will always show English index page.
Additionally one may display a message in the header if IP from other country with link to other language version.
Example: www.apple.com entering www.domain.com will always redirect automatically to country specific subdirectory based on IP
Example: www.samsung.com Any thoughts/suggestions on what may be best solution from a SEO perspective? For a user I believe options 1) & 3) are preferable.0 -
Help with .asia domain extension
hi there i m planning to buy a domain with .asia extension. I want to know ....values of these tlds regarding seo.did i chose wrong tlds?? purely targeting emd traffic. One of my site with .biz for a emd in "biz op" ranked less than 2 weeks ..now i have 200-300 traffic daily. i asked here because of i have no experience with .asia extension. 1.can i target the audience demographically with these .asia for u.s. , u.k .or brazil. 2. these extension can be good for seo ? can i ranked high in serp for low ocmpetition terms any suggestion or idea & tips for me??? thanks in advances.

Are NON French companies allowed to own domains in France?
Hi, I was wondering if any one knows if the French government has changed it's stance in recent years to the ownership of domains in their country. My understanding is that it can be pretty difficult to own a domain there if you do not reside there. In the past I have had people register domains using their passport as identification to prove their domicile in that country. We like many others have sites with .com/fr etc. and we do have one domain that is a .fr and seriously out performs the .com version. Many thanks for any input on this question. David *** UPDATE - Sorry no need for a response, I've just been informed that businesses who are located in a Member State of the European Union (EU) are allowed to own .fr domains which the French government needs to comply with. Brandable domain name?
