Sorry, but that URL is inaccessible
-
Our site is all on the https protocol so every time I use the on-page grader it tells me the link is unavailable. What can we do? When I use the http protocol (which is 301 redirected to the https) it still gives me the same message.

Seconded.

I would also definately like to see this added as ours is also in the finance sector and we have every page using https

I Would definately like to see this added as I have about 6 sites in the finance sector and we now have nearly every page using https

It worked on the previous version, didn't it? I remember running a few reports for a clients website that now doesn't work. I seem to be getting a lot of "Website cannot be accessed" errors on websites that can be accessed.
I, too, think there is a bug in the system. Not one to cause a fuss but I don't like the thought of paying a lot of money for a service where my main usage is with a product that just doesn't work and the response being "Well, yeah sorry it just doesn't work. We MIGHT add it in".
I know it's not your fault, at all, it's just a shame that a service doesn't work on very common websites.

Abe,
Thanks for the response. The only thing I find weird is the reports that Moz run weekly are able to provide me On-Page Grades even hitting the pages on the same site. It seems like there might be something else going on. Any ideas?

Hello Bart,
At this tim, our On Page Grader is not able to recognize https secure sites. This is the reason for the error you are seeing. Because the http site you are trying to enter actually redirects to this https site, our On Page Grader will still recognize this as an https site. We do hope to add this functionality in the future. I am truly Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Product URL
Hey Mozzers, Nice quick and simple one for you. Which of these 2 options is better for SEO and userbility and why domain.co.uk/productname.html
On-Page Optimization | | ATP
domain.co.uk/shop/category/product.html The top one stops stops any funky problems with magento making 2 paths to the same product but the second option feels more natural and helpful to the user. I feel both a valid but I would like some opinions please0 -
Keeping SEO benefit of an old URL by changing content
We have a blog written in Oct 2012 that accounts for 30-40% of our traffic (174K pageviews per year/80% bounce rate). We are considering updating the content but are concerned that it will fall off the search engine's map if the content is updated to include information that is not exactly the same, but relevant. The URL would be the same and the original blog content would be shortened with a link to the full blog. The new content would include other FDA products under investigation. Duplicate content issues - page content and store URLs
Hi, I'm experiencing some heavy duplicate content Crawl errors on Moz with www.redrockdecals.com and therefore I really need some help. It brings up different connections between products and I'm having a hard time figuring out what it means. It is listing the same products as duplicate content but they have different URL endings. For example:http://www.redrockdecals.com/car-graphics/chevrolet-silverado?___store=nl&___from_store=us

http://www.redrockdecals.com/car-graphics/chevrolet-silverado?___store=d&___from_store=us It seems like Moz considers the copy-pasted parts in the Full Description (scrolled a bit down on product pages) as Duplicate Content. For example the general text found on this page: http://www.redrockdecals.com/caution-tow-limited-turning-radius-decal Or this page: http://www.redrockdecals.com/if-you-don-t-succeed-first-time-then-skydiving-isn-t-for-you-bumper-sticker I am planning to write new and unique descriptions for all products but what do you suggest - should I either remove the long same descriptions or just shorten them perhaps so they don't outweigh the short but unique descriptions above? I've heard search engines understand that some parts of the page can be same on other pages but I wonder if in my case this has gone too deep... Thanks so much!0 -
How do you handle URLs with slashes?
I asked this question before, but with a different scenario. I upgraded my plan to a more advanced cart and all of my URLs changed about 1.5 years ago. I knew nothing about redirects and such, so none of that was done. Basically, let's say my site was: http://www.abc.com, but when people actually visit my site, they are directed to https://www.abc.com/. I have asked my host about redirecting and she that it is not possible. In the past, the link shared has been just www.abc.com . Will this hurt my ranking? My second question is ...let's say I have a link http://www.abc.com/blog , but now, the link is http://www.abc.com/blog/ . Will I be affected, since all my old links omit the slash?

Does a URL forward slash break up an exact match phrase?
I've seen some organisations implementing keyword phrases per URL with forward slashes in-between the keywords. Would this still work for broad AND exact match keywords when the search engine references the URL? Here's an example with the keyword being "scuola di lingue tedesco". http://www.esl.ch/it/adulti/scuola-di-lingue/tedesco/index.htm Thanks in advance.

Does it matter if a rel = "canonical" element is added to the beginning or the end of a URL?
I am curious to know if adding a rel = "canonical" tag to the end of a link element will affect its purpose?
