Article Submission
-
I would like to know the best places to submit articles. Free would always be best; but I not against paying if required. We launched a site within the "Home and Garden" industry and have tonnes of into to share.

Hey Mat
Interesting response you've written.
It appears that Post Panda, Google has cracked down on article submissions i.e. not giving much value at all?
So would you agree, that one is better off writing an article and posting it in their own blog, and in their own social media pages?
Cheers
George

Matt is right on this.
Some years you may have tried to look for satellite websites or more. Now it's definitely not recommended.
In our case we reviewed all our competitors backlinks to see if there is any good website to do guest blogging with.
But the main guideline is now is: write content, make it good and useful, promote it on social media.
It is the best methods (at least the 7/30/13)

Hi SpadaMan,
Submitting articles usually means finding sites that only existing to host other people's articles, giving them a link in exchange for the article content. That approach has always been flawed and Google has been cracking down on it as deliberate manipulation of the results. Definitely steer clear.
If your articles are original and useful then your best bet is likely to be to use them on your own website. Start adding them on a regular basis, and push them out through social media at the same time. You could contact sites in your niche and see if they would take a and credit you as the author (with a link) as well.
If they aren't original and interesting/useful then your options are going to be limited. However I'd rather opt for "do nothing" than submitting them to article directories.

I allow authority sites to republish my blog articles, which then outrank me
Hey everyone. This is my first question here, I apologize if it has been covered before. I have a health and nutrition blog [authority nutrition] that has been up since December 1st, 2012. I've managed to write quite a few viral articles which have given me a bunch of natural links and a domain authority of 49, which I think is pretty great for such a new site. Haven't done any link building and everything is 100% white hat. Getting good rankings and good traffic already, so I can't complain. My only (1st world) problem is that sometimes major authority sites (DA of 70-95) republish my content. I always say yes if they ask me first, but some of them just republish without even asking. My articles are always indexed on my blog before they get republished, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. These sites always clearly link to the original URL, but they often tend to outrank me for the keywords I was targeting in the articles. They tend to rank in the top 5, but my original article is nowhere to be found. I plan on continuing to allow these sites to republish as I get powerful links and good traffic from them, but it's a bit frustrating that I don't seem to get the credit as the original source. I've already set up Google Authorship, but it doesn't seem to help. Is there anything I can do to make sure Google recognizes my article as the original and chooses to rank my site instead of the authority site that simply republished my article?

Google : Bad positioning of my new articles for 2 months
For one or two months my new questions / Answers have a bad positioning and competitors who have a contents of inferior quality are classified in front of dismoicomment.fr. Recently I had + of 1000 errors of exploitation in webmasters tools because there was an url in the code of every page which was untraceable. Do you think that it can come from there? Nevertheless since the passage of Google panda, I have more traffic. I don't Understand... Furthermore my old posts have same positioning. My website : www.dismoicomment.fr Thank you. Sorry for my bad level in english.

Old articles in a blog
Hi, I would like to know your opinion about old article obsolete in a blog. Do you think it's preferable to totally delete them from Wordpress CMS? Considering the fact that Panda update measures "Bouncing Rate", "Time on site", and all that? Thanks for your opinion and advice! (Sorry if my english is not perfect, 2nd language 😉 )

Potential effects of PLR articles
I'm sitting on several hundred PLR articles that, with a bit of editing, would fit well into on of my sites. This site otherwise produces new unique content every week, including videos, news and articles. These PLR articles are very popular, copyscape shows at least 30 other sites are using some or all of the pieces, but the articles themselves are the sort of information pieces that don't really get old or change over time. Never having gone for the direct use of PLR articles (have spun quite a few unique pieces in my time though), I'm wondering if there could be a negative effect to using them? We're not in Google News or anything so don't have to worry about that, just wondering if it would diminish the effect of my unique pieces at all?
