Trouble implementing rel=publisher
-
I am trying to implement rel=publisher but am having some difficulties.
Although I have over 1000 fans when I try and verify my page I get a message from Google that "Your page does not have enough followers to be eligible for verification"
I have the following code on my pages:
<td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl"> <a href="<a class="webkit-html-attribute-value webkit-html-external-link" href="https://plus.google.com/+thelotter/posts" target="_blank">https://plus.google.com/[myname]/posts" id="ctl00_Header_socialCtrl_GooglePlusLinkCtrl_hyperLinkSocial" target="_blank" class="socialIcon googlePlusIcon"></a href="<a></td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl">
What should I be doing differently?
Thanks!

Hi there! Martijn altered your code snippet, which was missing the rel="author" attribute. You should be able to "select all" and then copy and paste the code. Please let us know if that works. Thanks!

Hi Martin,
I think I missed part of your answer.... what was your advice for me?
-
<td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl"> <a href="<a href="https://plus.google.com/+thelotter/posts" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://plus.google.com/[myname]/posts" id="ctl00_Header_socialCtrl_GooglePlusLinkCtrl_hyperLinkSocial" target="_blank" class="socialIcon googlePlusIcon" rel="publisher"></a href="<a></td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl">
-
The code is as follows:
<td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl"> <a href="<a href="https://plus.google.com/+thelotter/posts" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://plus.google.com/[myname]/posts" id="ctl00_Header_socialCtrl_GooglePlusLinkCtrl_hyperLinkSocial" target="_blank" class="socialIcon googlePlusIcon"></a href="<a></td id="ctl00_header_socialctrl_tdgooglepluslinkctrl">
(only thing different is myname is my brand)
We have a Google + icon linking to my page and I don't want it to say on my website homepage "find us on Google".
Shouldn't the above code be okay or does it need to be modified?

Are you sure you're using the right elements and tags to verify that your Google+ account belongs to your Web site. The correct code for this should be:
rel="publisher">Find us on Google+
More information on connecting your Google+ account can be found here.

can you let us see your rel=publisher code? Its weird because it should be pretty straight forward

Will the articles or blog-posts will get more visibility and do better in ranking by publishing them in different formats like videos?
Hi all, I just wonder how much the different formats of an actual content will bring more ranking improvement or visibility for an article or blog-post or landing page. If a topic has been created in video and slides, will that helps landing page at Google technically? Thanks

Links to Social Media accounts, rel=nofollow/follow and rel=me
Hi guys, I just saw this rel="me" attribute and I can't find any reputable recent (within last year) information. I never heard of this and wonder if it's any beneficial in any way. At the same time, should I use nofollow or follow on links from website to social accounts? I've heard different opinions but, again, no recent relevant and trustworthy information. Please, kick me into right direction. However, when kicking, please give me some proof, rather than thoughts 🙂 Thanks!

Rel=publisher
I've had the rel=publisher set up correctly for months now and verified it using the Google rich snippet tool. For some reason when I search my site/brand the Google+ profile will not show? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to have it show up? Thanks!

Is it wise for employees to be tied to a company's content with rel=author?
We're an e-commerce company that sells consumer goods. We are launching a blog that will have advice, tips, etc. on topics related to our industry. I'd like for us to implement rel=author on the content. If we rel=author the content to an employee, what are the possible repercussions if that employee leaves the company? I know the markup is pretty new and hasn't been widely implemented, but has anyone dealt with this?

Ghostwriting, blogging, and rel=author
Do you think it's unethical to use ghostwriting on a company's blog? Specifically, I mean hiring a writer to create content for the blog, and then publishing the content under, say, the CEO's name and using rel=author to tie it to the CEO's social identity. Does that undermine the whole idea of AuthorRank? Is it gaming the system?

Need advice about publishing free images
We produced a Movember poster to use at our showroom to encourage customers to donate, and I published it on some of our blogs as to raise the profile of our campaign. We've been getting loads of hits from people searching for "Movember poster", but as it has our branding on it won't be much good to them. It's a good image which has been making people laugh, so I think it's worth publishing an unbranded version which people can use freely so long as they link back to us if they use it on a website. Obviously I can publish the unbranded version of the poster on our own websites, but I think it might be worth publishing it on free image sites as well. I've got no experience dealing with image publication, so just wondered if anyone can give me any suggestions about the best way to go about it.

I'm having a problem implementing facebook sharing
Hi. Hopefully someone can help me out here. I have created a quiz on one of my sites that hopefully will be good linkbait. But I'm having some issues with figuring out how to best get users to share this on facebook. The quiz consists of two pages. The first contains each of the questions. I use jquery to hide and show each question. Then, the second is the results page. The results page has a dynamically generated title and shows a sharable badge depicting their results. So, for one user the results page may say, "I scored 100% on ABC Quiz!" and show a 100% badge. Another user may see, "Apparently I know nothing about ABC! I scored 16% on the quiz!". (Just examples, of course.) If I use the facebook share button, the url that gets shared is the results page and obviously I don't want knew users ending up on the results page. I tried using a rel canonical on the results page (pointing to the original page) but then the dynamic title doesn't get shared. Can anyone help?
