Ghostwriting, blogging, and rel=author
-
Do you think it's unethical to use ghostwriting on a company's blog? Specifically, I mean hiring a writer to create content for the blog, and then publishing the content under, say, the CEO's name and using rel=author to tie it to the CEO's social identity. Does that undermine the whole idea of AuthorRank? Is it gaming the system?
-
Technically it is gaming, but it happens more often than you think.
I, personally am a bit of a perfectionist and wouldn't be able to put my name to anyone else's work.
-
Ask yourself this question, if you employed a staff writer that you give assignments to, review, add links and then publish under the another name, does it really matter. My opinion, if you are paying for a product to be used as yours, then no big deal. If you are not paying for a product and stealing it, then big deal.

Outreach - Guest Blogs & Articles
Hi I know how old hat guest blogs are - but is all lost for high quality articles being placed on relevant sites? I am trying to decide where to put my offsite SEO efforts - we have no outreach strategy at present. Do I ignore articles altogether & focus on SEO/Social campaigns? Or try and do both? It's only me internally, we are looking to outsource some of the work but not all. Help! Thanks!

Promoting our blog posts. Effective ways and planning.
Hi Guys. I work for TOAD diaries, we make personalised journals and diaries. So we've taken a dive into blogging recently to help with brand awareness/ loyalty and increase traffic to our site. We don't have much of a social media following. So I'd like to know about other effective ways to promote them. The advice seems to range from extremely obvious and generic on the one hand i.e) post it to your Facebook, twitter etc, to seriously in depth, using a multitude of tools I've never heard of. I mean it's pretty overwhelming 😕 So I'd like to focus down on 5 or 10 ways I can 'get it out there' effectively. Any thoughts? What are the essential tools/ techniques/ jobs I should be doing? Etc etc. Note on our blogs: They are very different from one another, so far we've done how to make an origami boat and paper vs digital: part 1. We're also working on a time management piece at the moment. So they're all to do with paper, stationery, organisation, planning ect. But like I say each blog post is quite varied. Thus the target market varies too. Also, do let me know what you think to the blog posts 🙂 Any area's we can improve upon? Cheers guys. Isaac.

301 redirect for blog post URL change
I'm thinking about changing the URL for a new blog post that I have already promoted off-site today. I overlooked a detail and am gently kicking myself. I can't determine if it's worth any negative issues that adjusting it might create vs the value of having a more "perfect" URL. Would it be OK to do this by applying a 301 redirect to the page? Would this be the right thing to do or is there some other way? Thanks!!

Is it worth setting up a Google Plus page for your blog?
Hi All, OK we all know the merit in G+, Authorship etc. I'm a regular user on G+ and I work hard to keep my profile up to date and with fresh content. I have no doubt my increased number of followers has helped my blog rank (which my G+ account is linked to). My question is - is there any merit at all in setting up a separate page for my blog so I can get +1s for it (probably very few). Much like any company page that gets +1s and people to follow that company. Or is this just plain silly and I should concentrate on building my personal profile? Thanks

Request: Feedback on new free tool that provides social analytics for recent blog posts
We have created a tool that provides "at a glance social metrics" for the URLs listed in an RSS feed. Its intended purposes are: Monitor the social success of your recent blog posts Spy on the social success of your competitors' recent blog posts Quickly analyze a blog for social sharing metrics to determine whether it is a good outreach prospect or guest post opportunity Check out the tool at http://www.rypmarketing.com/tools/rss-social-analyzer.php I've attached a report run on the YouMoz RSS feed. Would love to hear some feedback on the tool... Do you think the tool is useful? Nice, but not worthwhile? What could be done to improve it? What ways do you think it will be most useful? Thanks! Wordpress Comment Spam is killing my blog: Help!
I am in charge of our company wordpress blog and we regularly update the content. However, we are getting hundreds of spam comments every week. To be honest I wouldn't care as they go straight into the spam folder BUT we are missing out on a few legitimate comments because it is so difficult and time consuming going through all the comments. Does anyone have an ideas on how to tackle this and stop this? It would be really appreciated.

I just discovered something about Addthis shares, Twitter, and rel-canonical.
Let's say I have a page on my site with the url www.mydomain.com/page1.php?id=234. Let's say it can be accessed by the url www.mydomain.com/page-this-is-a-keyword-rich-url And let's say that the second example is what I have set as my rel-canonical. I wondered what would happen when people submitted the non-canonical url to twitter. We know that Twitter shares count for something in SEO. I didn't want things to go to waste if people were landing on my short urls and sharing them on Twitter. Well, tonight, I shared one of my own urls on Twitter. I was accidentally on the short one (not the canonical), but when I shared it via addthis the long one was shared. So, Addthis must read the canonical and use this to share. Very cool. At least to me. I may possibly be the only person on the planet that understands what I just wrote, but this is a neat discovery for me.
