Site audit and SEO consultation ...who do you recommend?
-
I am looking to have an SEO specialist to audit and do consultation on one of my sites. This website never received a penalty from Google but was hit algorithmically and I need to bring it back up strong on the serps.
Who do you recommend from the "recommended list" from MOZ?
Cheers

eyepaq,
Thanks a lot for your time on studying my site and for your input on this matter.
I have never received a message from Google about spam issues on this site and I just checked the "manual" section and it's empty. I'm afraid it could have been hacked as you stated above, I will need to audit all my link profile.
Cheers

Interesting enough is that your search engine visibility dropped (actually tanked) between 15 and 29 of April 2012.
http://screencast.com/t/eppZoo73pp
Within this timetable there were several major google updates:
Panda 3.5 (#13) — April 19, 2012
Penguin — April 24, 2012
Panda 3.6 (#14) — April 27, 2012
Although the last one is unlikely to be the cause.
You will need to find the exact cause in order to push the right medicine
Overall the site dosen't look bad and there are no visible issues that can trigger something else. I would first have a look in Web Master Tools under Search Traffic -> Manual Action - just to make sure you are clear of those... If there is something there you will need to tackle that first.
Based on your link profile the site dosen't look like a Penguin candidate. However Penguin is not only about links. Make sure you are not "hacked". To be sure you are not a Penguin candidate just assign someone in your company - an intern maybe - to dl the links from WMT and have a split those in "make sense" and "dosen't make sense" based on the domain / page area and so on. Also have a list with all anchor texts to make sure you are not over optimized.
Om a first look your link profile is not the cleanest of them all but not really a penguin candidate. if you know you are guilty of some past link building campaign - you should start with those links as if some of those networks got "cut" you might be collateral damage - even if you are guilty of building those links so in fact you are not collateral damage.. just damage
I do hope is not penguin as it's hard to recover.
On the Panda side - you will need to clean the site - keep only the content that matter. Get rid of any "support" content and also get rid of content that is just sitting in google's index with no impressions, no clicks, no nothing. Look at CTR really close and try to improve that - by editing descriptions, title tags, adding microdata if possibile.
Hope it helps as an overview and a place to start.

eyepaq,
Thanks for the tip, I am leaving some information plus the URL for anybody to comment and advice on it but if any of you guys know of a good SEO company please share.
URL: www.woodlandsnewhomes.com
Look at image attached, it is a screenshot from Google Analytics, it took a hit on July 5, 2012 and since then traffic dropped by 54%.
This site was getting 700 to 800 organic visits per day and on July 5, 2012 dropped to 419 but kept dropping and now the site averages 220 to 300 visits per day.
Cheers

Better to post the URL here and you'll get advice for free from several SEOs and you can compare
For algo based filters there is usually a fast fix and no need for a long expensive audit.
You can also try the web master central and also get advice from professional SEOs and even people from Google (especially since you have an algo filter.
Cheers !

Discussion: Ecommerce SEO - What would you recommend as high Impact tasks to start campaigns with?
Calling all those with ecommerce SEO chops! What are the high impact tasks that you would always start out your new campaigns with? I've got this far in my thinking: Identifying query classes, identifying the intent of each query class and setting up ranking indices ensuring templated META page titles match the most valuable query syntax identify any issues with crawl budget that might prevent deep product page indexing

Why does some sites rank with no seo
Why is it that some site rank with zero efforts? I have been working on some seo for a while on my main site and i have been getting more info competition analysis with sem and moz. Looking at the states from this website which tends to popup often in the searches on page 1-2 before my site. This site is not keyword optimized, meaning they arent even trying to rank.

There is no content, articles etc.,
6 backlinks (nothing powerful just 2 directory links and 2 from developer)
Site really isnt even designed to get traffic as its a trade only ecommerce website
I doubt they are hiding anything as far as backlinks etc. as it will get them too many visitors they dont want
The city i am searching isnt even on the page (it is a city within a city so maybe google still relates it)
PA 24 DA 15 Now my site:
Optimized reasearched keywords
175 backlinks
All my main pages have content with images, alt tags, internal linking
full of content, blogs, videos, products (probably 4000, could a site being too big be an issue?)
Site gets regular updates
I probably have 200 citations
All the social media which gets done often
PA 32 DA 20 They do get a good bit of traffic but that is probably the only thing i would see but it would be direct traffic mostly i believe as it would be people going to order regularly since it is a print reseller. They may have some age on me 15 vs 8 years. Could it be some kind of penalty i am not sure about lingering? According to what i know to check everyything looks ok, no shady links accoding to sem. I am working more and more on all the pages but this competittion site really doesnt have crap going on probably 8 pages and 1 page does all the ordering. What the hell does google want from me exactly!0 -
Recommendation for Small Business SEO
I'm trying to find a company that can provide SEO services for our small business. We have a limited budget, $500 a month or less. We have staff that can do much of the work in terms of correcting content issues, changing content, etc. However, I'm not an SEO expert and we need someone to help us by understanding where we are now and providing ongoing guidance on what we should be doing to improve and also in helping with execution where possible and/or necessary. Can anyone recommend a company that might be able to help us with this within our budget constraints?

Recommended URL Structure
Hello, We are currently adding a new section of content on our site related to Marketing and more specifically 'Digital Marketing' (research reports, trend studies, etc). Over time (several months, or 1-3 years) we will add more 'general' marketing content. My question is which of the following URL structures makes more sense from an SEO perspective (and how best to quantify the benefit of one over another): www.mysite.com/marketing/digital/research/... www.mysite.com/digital-marketing/research/.. Thanks, Mike

Our quilting site was hit by Panda/Penguin...should we start a second "traffic" site?
I built a website for my wife who is a quilter called LearnHowToMakeQuilts.com. However, it has been hit by Panda or Penguin (I’m not quite sure) and am scared to tell her to go ahead and keep building the site up. She really wants to post on her blog on Learnhowtomakequilts.com, but I’m afraid it will be in vain for Google’s search engine. Yahoo and Bing still rank well. I don’t want her to produce good content that will never rank well if the whole site is penalized in some way. I’ve overly optimized in linking strongly to the keywords “how to make a quilt” for our main keyword, mainly to the home page and I think that is one of the main reasons we are incurring some kind of penalty. First main question: From looking at the attached Google Analytics image, does anyone know if it was Panda or Penguin that we were “hit” by? And, what can be done about it? (We originally wanted to build a nice content website, but were lured in by a get rich quick personality to rather make a “squeeze page” for the Home page and force all your people through that page to get to the really good content. Thus, our avenge time on site per person is terrible and Pages per Visit is low at: 1.2. We really want to try to improve it some day. She has a local business website, Customcarequilts.com that did not get hit. Second question: Should we start a second site rather than invest the time in trying to repair the damage from my bad link building and article marketing? We do need to keep the site up and running because it has her online quilting course for beginner quilters to learn how to quilt their first quilt. We host the videos through Amazon S3 and were selling at least one course every other day. But now that the Google drop has hit, we are lucky to sell one quilting course per month. So, if we start a second site we can use that to build as a big content site that we can use to introduce people to learnhowtomakequilts.com that has Martha’s quilting course. So, should we go ahead and start a new fresh site rather than to repair the damage done by my bad over optimizing? (We’ve already picked out a great website name that would work really well with her personal facebook page.) Or, here’s a second option, which is to use her local business website: customcarequilts.com. She created it in 2003 and has had it ever since. It is only PR 1. Would this be an option? Anyway I’m looking for guidance on whether we should pursue repairing the damage and whether we should start a second fresh site or use an existing site to create new content (for getting new quilters to eventually purchase her course). Wordpress Blogs and SEO
So far we have been creating separate blogs on wordpress.com for our sites, and writing there. Today I was told that there was better SEO hosting the blog on the actual domain. i.e. www.widgets.com/blog instead of widget.wordpress.com Is this true? Oddly I have had my WP beat my own URL on one account. So I am not sure if this is valid. Can someone tell me pros and cons of both? Thanks!

How to best utilize network of 50 sites to increase traffic on main site
Hey All, First off I wanna thank everyone who has responded to all my previous questions! Love to see a community that is so willing to help those who are learning the ropes! Anyways back to my point. We have a main site that is a PR 3 and our main focal point for lead generation. We recently acquired 50 additional sites (all with a PR of 1-3) that we would like to use as our own little back linking campaign with. All the domains are completely relevant to our main site as well as specific pages within our main site. I know that reciprocal links will get me no where and that google is quickly on to the attempted 3 way link exchange. My question is how do I best link these 50 sites to not only maintain there own integrity and PR but also assist our main site. Thanks All!
