SEO question: Need help on rel="alternate" hreflang="x"
-
Hi all,
we have webcontent in 3 languages (official belgian yellow pages), we use a separate domain per language, these are also our brands.
ex. for the restaurant Wagamamahttp://www.goudengids.be/wagamama-antwerpen-2018/ corresponds to nl-be
http://www.pagesdor.be/wagamama-antwerpen-2018/ corresponds to fr-be
http://www.pagesdor.be/wagamama-antwerpen-2018/ corresponds to en-beThe trouble is that sometimes I see the incorrect urls appearing when doing a search in google, ex. when searching on google.be (dutch=nederlands=nl-be) I see the www.pagesdor.be version appearing (french)
I was trying to find a fix for this within https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=nl , but this only seems to apply to websites which use SUBdomains for language purposes. I'm not sure if can work for DOMAINS.
Can anyone help me out?
Kind regards

Hi,
Hreflang will work on ccTLDs (.com, .co.uk, .de) etc so is not restricted to only sub domains. Yours is an interesting case where you have multiple domains for languages but all within the same TLD. I would think that hreflang would work in this case also although could not find much in the way of specific case studies or recommendations. I would be inclined to try it on a subset of pages and see what happens. On those three links you gave the content looks a bit thin and some is common across all the domains (the reviews for example which are in any of the three languages which could be confusing to google). Implementing hreflang should help clarify each domains intended target audience and could also help in better indexing of all the sites (which maybe you are also having some issues with?) check here for an interesting read http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/case-study-the-impact-of-hreflang-tag.

Need Help With WWW vs. Non-WWW Duplicate Pages
A friend I'm working with at RedChairMarket.com is having duplicate page issues. Among them, both www and non-www URLs are being generated automatically by his software framework, ASP.net mvc 3. How should we go about finding and tackling these duplicates? Thanks!

What is the difference between "Referring Pages" and "Total Backlinks" [on Ahrefs]?
I always thought they were essentially the same thing myself but appears there may be a difference? Any one care to help me out? Cheers!

Objects behind "hidden" elements
If you take a look at this page: http://www.americanmuscle.com/2010-mustang-body-kits.html You will notice we have a little "Read More" script set up. I have used Google Data Validator to test structured data located behind this 'Read More' and it checks out OK but I was wondering if anyone has insight to whether or not the spiders are even seeing links, etc. behind the 'Read More' script.

Jigoshop "add to cart" producing 302 redirects
Hi, My site is throwing thousands of 302 redirect warnings on crawl for the add to cart process in my Wordpress/Jigshop online store. A sample url the crawl references is: | | https://morrowsnuts.com/product/the-best-of-the-best-8-oz/?add-to-cart=6117&_n=9773652185 | | I have read several other threads here that are similar in nature but haven't discovered a way to eliminate this. I am a store owner and with only partial technology skills and I don't know what to try next. I posted the problem with Jigoshop but I am not sure if they will provide a solution since this was the first time they heard of this. The site is Morrow's Nut House located at: https://morrowsnuts.com Thanks in advance for any direction or suggestions for me on next steps, John

Is having "rel=canonical" on the same page it is pointing to going to hurt search?
i like the rel=canonical tag and i've seen matt cutts posts on google about this tag. for the site i'm working on, it's a great workaround because we often have two identical or nearly identical versions of pages: 1 for patients, 1 for doctors. the problem is this: the way our content management system is set up, certain pages are linked up in a number of places and when we publish, two different versions of the page are created, but same content. because they are both being made from the same content templates, if i put in the rel=canonical tag, both pages get it. so, if i have: http://www.myhospital.com/patient-condition.asp and http://www.myhospital.com/professional-condition.asp and they are both produced from the same template, and have the same content, and i'm trying to point search at http://www.myhospital.com/patient-condition.asp, but that tag appears on both pages similarly, we have various forms and we like to know where people are coming from on the site to use those forms. to the bots, it looks like there's 600 versions of particular pages, so again, rel=canonical is great. however, because it's actually all the same page, just a link with a variable tacked on (http://www.myhospital.com/makeanappointment.asp?id=211) the rel=canonical tag will appear on "all" of them. any insight is most appreciated! thanks! brett
