Press Releases

Hi Moosa,
thank you for the good answer...
You said - Use it for users not for Search Engines! Then what type of links would you use for search engines...
-
I don’t see much problem with PR Web other then the fact that you have to be careful about adding links in the Press Release. Actually you only should use PR Web when you want masses to update about your product or service but for SEO purposes it’s of ZERO value from now!
If you think adding a link in the PR is important for visitors then make it no follow otherwise just eliminate the link and let people know about the update you have!
Remember: Use it for users not for Search Engines!

Recent discussion in SERountable here . The opinion is that all links in press releases should be no followed.

I too would like to know what people's opinions are with press release sites like prweb. I have a competitor that has a high authority dofollow link via prweb, and it seems to have worked for them.
I guess the risk is whilst a prweb link may be good, you don't know which spammy sites will pick up that press release and republish it on their site.
But, yeh, would also love to hear what people have to say on this.

Content From a Large Guide that will be released in sections
Hey Mozzers, Please Help! My new client has a blogger who is writing a multi-part series for them and releasing one part each week. Each part is about 500 words. I know that longer, in depth content generally provides better user signals like "dwell time" and even social shares....but i have to balance this with the fact that the client wants to publish one new post a week for SEO and to give users a reason to come back to the website. Should i just wait a while and combine the posts, using a 301 to redirect all the small posts to the big one? Thanks in advance, Nails

Anchor phrase over optimization due to press release?
Hello. I recently opened my website last month and after that did some seo and a press release. SEO guy was good and didnt over optimize any particular keyword. but now I am seeing a partular phrase is hovering around 10%. That is rather a money keyword and I am worried am I gonna get a penalty for that. That keyword came from the press release where I am seeing 7 rather very reputable website posted that press release. Now what are the chances of getting a penalty for this?

Delay release of content or fix after release
I am in the midst of moving my site to a new platform. As part of that I am reviewing each and every article for SEO - titles, URLs, content, formatting/structure, etc, etc. I have about 200 articles to move across and my eventual plan is to look at each article and update for these factors. I have all the old content moved across to the new server as-is (the old server is still the one to which my domain's DNS records point). At a high level I have two choice: Point DNS to the new server, which will expose the same content (which isn't particularly SEO-friendly) and then work through each article, fixing the various elements to make them more user friendly. Go through each article, fixing content, structure, etc and THEN update DNS to point to the new server. Obviously the second option adds time before I can switch across. I'd estimate it will take me a few weeks to get through the articles. Option 1 allows me to switch pretty soon and then start going through the articles and updating them. An important point here is the new articles already have new (SEO-friendly) URLs and titles on the new server. I have 301 redirections in place pointing from the old to new URLs. So, it's "only" the content of each article that will be changing on the new server, rather than the URLs, etc. So, I'd be interested in any suggestions on the best approach - move across to the new server now and then fix content or wait till all the content is done and then switch to the new server. Thanks. Mark

Do I need an invitation for Press Release Point?
Hey everyone, I went to this page http://www.pressreleasepoint.com/submit-press-release on Press Release Point and it said "Sorry, new user registration by invitation only." Does anyone know a way around it, or how I can get an invitation? Thanks 🙂

Link Building with PRweb press releases
Im looking for tips or best practices when sending out PR for link building. I send out at least 4 press releases per month using prweb’s advanced release which allows anchor text. For the past few months I’ve been rotating branded terms, exact match keywords and full URL’s as the links, but always linking to my home page or to one particular subpage. Most of the releases are to announce upcoming projects or to announce a recent website launch for a client, less often we’re highlighting a service or special we want to promote. Im wondering if I should be linking to more sub pages to spread links around, and if I should be focusing more on branded terms vs. exact match anchors. Due to the cost involved I just want to be sure im getting the most out of it.

Looking to increase the quality of our backlinks with a press release: Business wire or Prweb?
Hello all! We are looking to increase the quality of backlinks to our new website www.unitedfitnessmarketing.com and wondering which service would be more beneficial. Care to share any preferences or advice? We have been live for about 3 1/2 months now. We are in a tough niche to find related backlinking websites. We are in the health club marketing consulting field. I just paid for a business.com listing but was thinking a quality press release would give me more juice. My competitors have used free press release services so I'm thinking I could easily one-up them and gain some ground in the rankings. Leaning more towards business wire b/c it's a berkshire hathaway company but would like more input. Thanks!

Duplicate Content on Press Release?
Hi, We recently held a charity night in store. And had a few local celebs turn up etc... We created a press release to send out to various media outlets, within the press release were hyperlinks to our site and links on certain keywords to specific brands on our site. My question is, should we be sending a different press release to each outlet to stop the duplicate content thing, or is sending the same release out to everyone ok? We will be sending approx 20 of these out, some going online and some not. So far had one local paper website, a massive football website and a local magazine site. All pretty much same content and a few pics. Any help, hints or tips on how to go about this if I am going to be sending out to a load of other sites/blogs? Cheers
