Link Building - Affiliate Link Programs
-
I'm getting some conflicting information when researching this...
I want to create the most organic link building strategy that not only gets high authority sites linking to a website, but relevant websites.
I'm creating an affiliate link program where I link to partner and affiliate companies, who in turn link back to me. The question is where to put these links. I was initially thinking of putting them in the footer so they add credibility to every page, and in turn ask my affiliates to do the same thing. However; some sources say that Google no longer looks at links in the footer section.
Is it true that Google doesn't count links in footer sections?
And do you have any tips on creating this Affiliate Link Program?

Hey Peter,
I am considering doing a similar thing to the company I work for. How is this going for you?
Many thanks,

Hi all,
I have read this thread because I'm considering something similar. Therefore, am I interested in hearing your feedback and thoughts on the following idea.
How to build inbound, one-way links through affilate marketing.
- I will create my own affilliate program within the shop. There is finished systems for this for must open source shop-systems.
- A new affiliate shall, upon creation, write a text with links to my shop and place the text on their blog, site or?
- If a visitor from one of the links, buys, will I paid the commission agreed with the affilitate.
My idea is that I'm in this way both can expand my inbound links and get the link-juice (which would otherwise go to affiliate network) everytime I get a new affiliate and simultaneously gain more affiliates. Furtheremore can I pay a higher kommissison when we bypasse the affililate network.
Look forward to hear any thoughts.
Thanks - Peter

Hi,I wouldn't recommend this style of link building, it's easy to spot and Google doesn't like reciprocal links aside from having a loads of links on your site which would look like a link farm you would eventually get a penalty. It wouldn't look that natural. It's fine if yo are going to have a few links to really relevant things on your site but it sounds like your looking at a lot more than a few.
In short :
- Not worth the time as it will get penalized (maybe not right away).
- Looks spammy because it is.
Good Luck

We are no experts on Affiliate marketing/linking, however, we have been working to implement best practices when doing so. Maybe not on the scale you want, but nonetheless, still working to gather and distribute affiliate links.
Per the Google not "counting footer links", that would be false. Google counts ALL links, so be careful nothing is being stuffed. Look to structure your content and pages in order to present an organized link setup. Most affiliates we are researching use a number of styles, ie: logos, graphics, call to action buttons, full written reviews of a product with affiliate hyperlinks, product/service pages with 100% unique content to differ from the source.
We are still researching all of this and continue to learn new tricks, read more articles, listen to podcasts, watch videos, etc... so you're on the right track. Scratch their back and they will scratch yours, just always be mindful of Google's updates and best practices so not to get penalized.

Is there a way to use your other web properties for successful link building
We have two websites that align with it each other: Site #1 - Industry editorial website that provide high quality, original and current content. This site is mature and has high authority relatively speaking. Site #2 - Industry resource website that educates general public and insiders about the industry. Content is professionally written with fantastic art and basically breaks down different manufacturing processes/materials and walks people through the benefits. Would it be a sound approach to add anchor text/link within articles on site #1 to site #2? Below are a few scenarios: Article on site #1 is talking about using [manufacturing process] to make something and site #2has a page that describes [manufacturing process] in great detail. Article on site #1 is talking about using [material] and site #2 has a page that describes **[material]**in great detail. Article on site #1 is talking why its beneficial to use a particular [material] or [manufacturing process] and site #2 has a page that describes all benefits of [material] or [manufacturing process] in great detail. Obviously, this will only be sprinkled in here and there and not in every article. It should provide users with more insight but will SE's see it that way?

Building Links for an E-Waste Recycling Business
Hi everyone. I was wondering how I could build a solid link profile for an e-waste recycling business. Should I try to get links from local government bodies, the better business bureau, and the chamber of commerce? How have people done this before? I must also note that my business doesn't have a physical location per se in every city, but will travel to a client instead. Thanks!

Link Building Companies
Hi Moz Community, I'm currently looking into hiring a link building company. I found one promising lead out of Boise, ID who only specializes in white hat link building tactics but unfortunately, I found some tainted reviews as well. Any one has adice/recommendations on great companies out there? Many thanks!

Where do I find the best link building company?
Hi there, I'm trying to find an ethical, honest, link building company. We don't want links on shady forums, or comment spam, or any of that black hat nastyness!. I want links, on proper sites, and I'm prepared to pay for them accordingly. We're also more than happy to write/have written/ quality content that can be linked to. (We already pump out about 15 x 400+ word, optimised blogs weeks) We spend hours on the various social media sites also. So I think the only thing we're really missing now, is decent backlinks and possibly some more long tail keywords... Over to you guys. Paul.

Selling link building - Show me the money !
Week after week we get enquiries for Link building services. Time and time again we are losing out on contracts and deals... My stance - We work on your site for a period of time doing link building so 2 days in the month a link building member will research competitors , yadi , yadi, ya 🙂 You get the picture right... But the customers are being told by less scrupulous companies the numbers of links they will receive. Impossible unless you are buying them right ? So it reaches that point when you start questioning being 100% honest... What advice would you give me on selling link building services...

Link building
I have two separate websites on different servers and was wondering that since reciprocal links effectively eliminate each other, I'm curious if this link strategy will keep the links counting. Here's the strategy: I will have someone link to my site A and if i link to their site from my site B in a three way link strategy, will the links count even though both my site A and B have me listed as the Whois so Google knows that both sites are owned by me? Or will the links be discounted as reciprocal? Thanks in advance for your feedback! Take care, Ron

Link Building - Goals and Expectations
I'm trying to set concrete goals around link building and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on what is reasonable to expect. If we are reaching out to 10 sites a day in a non-spammy, relevant way, is it reasonable to think that we'll get 5 links back, 2 links? I just don't know. Tips and tricks are welcome too!!
