Google+ what does it take to get a custom url
-
What does it take to get your own google+ url? I keep getting turned down saying I need more followers. Is does anyone know of a threshold I have to cross to get one? On my personal 534 people have me in their circles and on my company i have 474 +1's.

It looks to me that Google just updated the criterion as of yesterday 10/29 in the afternoon. I have seen that now all you need is 10 followers and an account that has been active for 30 days

That said, I have had various team members get custom URLs for personal G+ pages as well with varying amounts of "engagement" and not site verified. My twitter feed has also been "a twittle" with comments around getting G+ customized urls, so there has been for sure a recent relaxing of the rules.

I just launched a client's Google+ page, and the first thing I did was verify the site url. Just today, only a few days later, I received an invitation to claim the custom url https://www.google.com/+Artbookprinting. With only 3 followers (the +page being so brand new) I would venture to say that site verification is the key component.
Not sure if it is relevant, but I also linked up the company president's google+ profile (also a mgr of the business's +page) with his the site's blog as an author. It's possible that this second level of verification had something to do with being offered the custom url so quickly.

Still working on getting ours, but our Google rep (for Adwords) said we first needed to fill this form out, and get our page verified.
-
Lesley, have you tried that, getting your Business page verified first?
-
Doesn't need to be in the 1000's. When I had less than 100 +1's on my page and in less than 70 circles I got the custom url plus.google.com/+webprintnl
I don't have the answer, but you don't need a very large url, but i've read this:
However, the primary requirement for one day receiving your Google Plus Custom URL is to get your Google Plus Business Page verified.
-
That is my understanding as well as what I have seen and been told, you need to be in the 1,000s.
-
I think it needs to be at least in the 1,000's. One of the lowest vanity URLs I've noticed (granted I dont use G+ that much) is https://plus.google.com/+SEOgadget/ with 5K in the circles. I think Google is getting this out in phases so I would stay tuned until the requirements loosen up a bit to include the 100s, or everyone. It would seem like a natural progression.

Website Name Before Search String in Google SERP
I'm curious to hear whether it's better to have your company name before the Search String, or after it?When I search for Church Management Software in Google, some results place the company before the string.

Rebranding/Url Structure Change
Hi Everyone, First off thanks for taking the time to looking at my question. I was wondering about rebranding and URL structure changes. Right now my company is planning on changing their domain and doing a massive change to their site which includes a url structure change. The idea is in September they will be changing the site to be a combination of wordpress and ruby on rails (currently the site is ruby on rails). The homepage and design on the site will be completely different and parts of the site will be in php and other parts will be in ruby. The URL structure will also be changing completely at the same time. Each page will be completely different in structure, including the homepage (currently now it redirects you to a subfolder page that is your local page [i.e. nyc if you are in new york]). Then, the following month, they will be changing their domain name to a different domain. I have asked them to do this in stages. First the domain, second the rebrand, and third the URL restructuring or we could lose SEO traffic but they asked a freelancer his opinion and the freelancer said that you could do the rebrand change with the URL restructure and then domain later and while you're SEO may disappear, it'll definitely return in 3 to 4 months. Could you tell me who is right and what the correct method is to make this change?

Importance of Google+ name?
Greetings Mozzers, I'm working on some Google+ profiles currently and have one interesting case where I'd like some advice. The name of one of my clients' web addresses, company name, and Google+/Google Local verified local business names all reflect the same thing. [Name] Surgical Associates However, on Google+ it looks like it has a limited number of characters so it reads: [Name] Surgical Ass... How important is it to keep the name identical to everything else on the web? Could I get away with just changing the name on Google+ to [Name] Surgical I appreciate in advice on this matter and what would occur if I changed it here. Thanks.

Trying to de-mystify Google Places, Google Local & Google Plus
There is a lot of online 'noise' regarding the changes / merging and making the best out of Googles' Places / Local & Google Plus. Any tips, ideas, experiences or just plain revelations regarding all or any of the above services and how they will work & come together in the future?

What is the impact of the new google+ share button on SERP
Hello mozzers, I'm currently wondering what will be the impact of the new social signal ( Google+ Share ) on SERP an organic traffic. As we all know by now , Facebook share have an higher social signal authority then the Facebook like on SERP @Randfish posted some great info at: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/facebook-twitters-influence-google-search-rankings Since Google rolled out the new Google+ Share social signa at : https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/share/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=gplusdevelopers&utm_campaign=shareplugin I was wondering if somebody had the chance to do some clear testing on the SERP impact of this new social signal even if its a fresh addition to the social signals. Best regards, Yan Desjardins - Online marketing manager

Google Places Pending for months..
We are a franchise with over 80 locations. We have bulk uploaded all our places pages and all but 15 of them have been approved...this was over 2 months ago!!! Any idea why the final 15 will not stop "Pending Review"?? Google has been no help!(of course) It seems the information is correct across Yelp! CitySearch, and Yahoo Local... Any ideas?
