Google Product Ads - Improving our Cost Per Conversion?
-
Hi all,
We have been running Google Product Ads (paid for) ever since it began in the UK. We are still struggling to get to grips with the best way to make it worthwhile for us.
Our data for the last 14 days:
Clicks: 1827
Impressions: 65789
CTR: 2.78%
Average CPC: £0.22
Cost Per Conversion: £15.13We've added some auto targets for our most popular brands, with a higher CPC than "all products". We've also added negative keywords so we only come up with relevant searches.
Basically, what we'd like to know is: how we can best set-up our product ads to reduce our Cost Per Conversion (I guess everyone would like to do that!), as it is barely worth us using it currently.
If you require any further data to help answer my question, please ask.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi EGOL, thanks for the response.
I think the problem could be a mixture of points A and D. I think we need more of a call to action, maybe a countdown to next dispatch or something. Also on a slightly different note, does anyone know of a tool that uses Google Shopping results to get other prices and tells you what you need to adjust? (Like AppEagle does for Amazon)
Does quality score exist for Google Product Ads, or just adwords keywords? I can't see it in the settings.

If you go into the auction with a low bid and appear at the bottom of the adwords list your CTR will be very low. That will damage your quality score. It can be very difficult to raise your quality score if your CTR has been very low for a long time.
I start out with a bid that will make my ad very visible immediately. That gives my ad a better chance to be clicked and that higher CTR helps me start out immediately with a better quality score than if I started out bidding low with an ad that is not clicked as often.

"E) Adwords is a battle of quality score. If you start out trying to get cheap clicks your quality score is going to suck. I go in bidding crazy high to help the quality score and then back off."
Can you explain this a little further? How does your high orignial bid increase the quality score?
Thanks!

I always like to segment the list to gain more control this can be done by brand or manufacturer ,product etc play around with different ways of breaking up the list so you can see what is worthy of spending on and what isnt.

Basically, what we'd like to know is: how we can best set-up our product ads to reduce our Cost Per Conversion (I guess everyone would like to do that!), as it is barely worth us using it currently.
Just some quick things to consider....
A) There is much more to this than "ads". The conversion rate of your landing page could be more important than your ads. Spend some time improving it. I got help from SiteTuners.com and they helped me understand landing pages.
B) I write LOTS of ads (ten for a keyword is not unusual) and allow them to compete. I drop those with low conversion rate. Experiment. Try crazy stuff. It might pull traffic and get sales.
C) I download a spreadsheet of keywords and find those that are not converting. I drop those. I also use negative keywords to block unproductive and irrelevant. You can boost your quality score by eliminating unproductive keywords.
D) Find out what your competitors are charging for the products and for shipping. If you are a high-price seller competing against discounters you are going to blow a load of money on adwords.
E) Adwords is a battle of quality score. If you start out trying to get cheap clicks your quality score is going to suck. I go in bidding crazy high to help the quality score and then back off.

Facebook conversions - issue in calculation
Hi, I have a few campaigns for conversions on Facebook, but any of them don't show to me real numbers. There are 4 times more conversions on Facebook than in GA. I did a little research. The problem is that - Facebook pixel calculates all possible conversions from all sources, and because my campaign results are wrong e.g.: Facebook campaign results: Conversions: 10 | Cost per conversion: 1 GA for that campaign (real numbers): Conversions 1 | Cost per conversion: 1 GA from all campaigns and sources: 10 It's that correct? Pls help. Br. Marco

Best Practices: Mobile & Desktop Ad Design for Adwords?
Is it possible to have Google Adwords display different page versions according to whether an advertisement will be displayed on a mobile or desktop device? We are a commercial real estate brokerage based in New York City. Most converting website use desktop rather than mobile. We are considering advertising on Google Adwords. Is it possible to have Google serve a more elaborate form of desktop landing page but have Google serve a stripped down version to mobile users? The stripped down version would be created using Instapage. From a technical perspective how would we create a more elaborate desktop version and have Google distinguish between the two? In our experience, mobile converts much less. How much less should we bid for keywords displaying on mobile? Thanks!

How to track conversions from a third party email campaign?
Heyy.. New to the Moz community, first question so here goes! I'm going to be running an email campaign with an e-magazine and I want to know how to track conversions from the email they're sending out so I can monitor success/failure. I've found Google's URL builder:

Track bounce rate per PPC keyword
Hi all Wondering if anyone could give me a nudge in the right direction with this please. When running an adwords campaign is there a way in which one can track the bounce rate on the landing page per keyword sending paid traffic? I've had a play about in adwords and GA and couldn't find the right option. The site I am sending traffic to is not a ecommerce site so cannot set up conversion tracking so we are going to monitor the bounce rates of different keywords and drop the ones which are bouncing much higher than others as it seems better to invest the budget in those words which are keeping people on the page for longer. Many thanks Carl

Can using the Google Keywords tool and/or SEOmoz cause problems for my company's IP address?
I just started with a company a few weeks back, working on-site doing SEO work. I've been using SEOmoz as well as Google Adwords' Keywords tool. I just got a message from one of our reps saying that people at the office (and this is a huge office) have reported tons of CAPTCHAs being thrown up frequently. I told them I had been running searches with Google Keywords tool and SEOmoz, but would that really cause that much of a problem? Is there anything I can do in order to fix this, some keyword finders that won't get me in trouble, etc.?

How to improve Time to First Byte? Page Load Speed
I am working with a ecommerce site that is having major issues with their load speed. The ttfb is...wait for it...7911 ms. I am not even sure where to start with this issue. If you have any recommendations, it would be appreciated. Is it the clients servers that are slow? They have went through multiple redesigns and have some code that could probably be deleted but I don't think it would make it that slow.
