Increasing likes on Facebook - Strategies
-
What local strategies has anybody used in the past to boost the local likes of a Facebook page. The business concerned is a home improvements company covering a geographical area of the UK.
What I would like to do is try and increase the number of likes from our potential target audience in cities and towns that we cover.
I don't think Facebook ads are the right choice as many users just ignore them, but would be interested in online and offline marketing strategies that could be used to boost numbers to our Facebook page.
The reason this is so important especially in the home improvement space is that most projects are awarded on word of mouth recommendations, so Facebook is the perfect platform.

Hi Ocelot
Wow they have a few Facebook fans don't they!!
I agree how many of these will actually be customers though ??
The customer social recommendation is a great idea to explore but how knowing us Brits they hard part will be getting them to actually do this!!
Customers are very quick to head to social media when they have a complaint but not as quick to praise!!
I guess the best strategy would be to "Just Ask"
I have found happy customers in the past to be quite accommodating
I am sure there could be ways to help incentivise these social recommendations but you may be heading down a slightly grey area.
Kind Regards
James

Thanks James
Competitions are always a good idea of raising numbers but what i have found in the past is that the demographic will not be correct. The majority of entrants will be 'compers' basically people who love entering competitions and basically have little interest in your service or products. Especially if you spread the word via the major competition portals.
I read a case study on Appliances Online - AO.com recently on their Facebook success but a lot of their increased numbers was just down to people wanting to win free products. I wonder how many of these new followers would go on to actually make a purchase from AO ?
I am trying to devise / work on a strategy that will increase social recommendation. So when Mrs Jones has her new kitchen fitted she tells her friends and colleagues about the great job that the company did on Facebook. I believe this form of social recommendation is one of the most powerful forms of marketing, even more so than product reviews on e-commerce sites

Hello Ocelot
Have you thought about maybe trying a Facebook photo competition ??
Maybe you could ask people to send in pics of a part of the house they would like improving and why they should win the prize ??
New windows, falling down gutters, new conservatory etc
You could then ask people to get as many "Likes" and shares as possible to help them win the prize.
You would have overall control who wins and would obviously pick a good PR story so you can then get more content about who and why they won... more photos of them getting the new windows etc
This would be a great local papers story too.
Here is a link to a company I have used before for Photo comp
Hope this helps
James

Invite a Facebook user to Like a Company Page
Hi All, Was looking at our Facebook company page last night and was going through our recent posts and noticed that the individuals that liked our posts had an "Invite" button next to their name. I've been testing this and is it true that I can only send an Invite to like my company page if I'm actually friends with the user? The "Invite" button is there for every individual that has liked a post on our page, but I've only had success sending the invite to people I'm connected with. The frustrating thing about this is that the button changes to "Invited" regardless of whether or not they have actually received the invite.

Facebook won't spend my ad budget. Any recommendations?
What do you do when Facebook won't spend your ad budget, no matter what you do or how high you bid? We've tested a large audience (2.2 million reach) under a single ad set versus many smaller ad sets with tighter targeting (50-150k reach). We've tested auto bidding versus manual bidding with bids as high as 1000% higher than Facebook's recommended bid. We've tested many versions of creative with and without text overlay and our relevance scores are high. Nothing seems to work. Our Facebook rep and Facebook technical support keep recommending to stay with one ad set and one ad, but that's not spending either. Most days we are getting less than 20% budget utilization. Has anyone experienced this situation before? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Facebook Share Percentage - On Blog Posts
Hi everyone, I'm trying to find a way to give each post we are creating a quality status. Since bounce rate on this case isn't really a viable option (Blog Behavior) since people could stay 10 mins reading it and then go elsewhere without interacting. I'm looking for a way to focus on facebook sharing, lets say something simple like "Facebook Shares / Sessions" per each blog post, while I can have an idea on my own data, lets say my highest is 4.1% of all people that go to that post end it up sharing it. But I wonder on average what would you consider a good engagement post, what would that percentage might be? Thanks in advance.

Improve facebook page interaction
https://www.facebook.com/TheHiddenTriforce I have this page which used to get great feedback and interaction. As we have grown the interaction has dropped. Facebook has implemented their ridiculous policy of not sending content out as they should which is part of the issue. Anyways, I am looking for general feedback as to how I can boost this page's engagement. I am not going to pay to boost my posts to my already existing fans. So please provide other options.

Benefits of getting inbound links to your Facebook account to go through your domain?
Hi, I was browsing a magazine recently and came across an advert that had a text of: domain.com.au/facebook When you visit this address you are automatically redirected to their Facebook account. It got me thinking, is there any benefit to this? It's the first time I've seen it and I presume they get links from outside sources to their FB account to go to domain.com.au/facebook rather than facebook.com/sitename Thanks
