Frequency Capping For The Display Network
-
Hi Everyone,
I have recently started doing a remarketing campaign for one of my products.
To give you a bit of a general background, its a generic branded product that consistently sells well and we do have the cheapest price for it on Google, amazon and eBay.
I'm remarketing to anyone who has visited that specific product page (I did want to do it to those that have abaonded cart although i'm very technically restricted by the state of our current website) and I'm wondering what would be a good number to frequency cap the number of times people can see the ad?
Any general guidlines would be helpful.
Thanks

I think that depends upon how you see the "lifetime value of a customer" or the "profit margin on a single sale". JTV will follow you around for months.... HarborFreight will follow you for days....
If you have a single product that you are selling at a discount price you might not want to remarket very much at all.

Will Google penalize a text ad if the display URL goes nowhere?
Today I had a colleague ask me if Google Adwords will penalize text ads that have display URLs that land on 404 pages. I fully understand the policy that the domains in display URLs and destination URLs have to match up or Google will disapprove the text ad. However if the display url contains the proper domain (and a target keyword phrase for a file folder) will Google penalize the text ad quality score if the display URL lands on a 404? I had trouble finding specific evidence for this.

Display advertising - targetting
I am looking into running adverts on the display network and see there is a range of options available for targetting potential customers I see that the list includes the following: 1 placement targeting 2 contextual targeting 3 interest category targeting 4 keyword targeting 5 demographic targeting Can anyone tell me what the best option or combination of this options is? The product I am selling is a weight loss product targeted at women. There are a few companies currently selling this product on the market and we are not the cheapest. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards Pete

Have you used an ad network other than Google Adwords?
We received a cold call from a company called Division-D. They make a lot of promises which sound good (but that's what marketers do 🙂 ). Advertising on a non-Google network probably would have fewer restrictions than an Adwords campaign and they say that they are fully transparent. Would it be worth it to listen to their whole pitch?

Adwords "Display Network" tab buggy?
Anyone else notice the new Display Network tab in Google Adwords is buggier than a cheap NY motel bed? Everytime I load it in firefox I end up twiddling my thumbs for several minutes before hard closing the program. Very frustrating morning... In case anyone else is feeling this pain, I just tried it in opera and it finally loaded ok.

Ideas on how to track google display network traffic
Does anyone know of a good way to be able to track traffic from Google's display network to a site since this traffic doesn't show up under paid search traffic in Omniture? Thanks! -Margarita

Content Network Clicks Not Count as Paid Search
So I've been noticing that the "searches" being recorded in Omniture for my paid search campaigns are closer to the total number of clicks that I get on my "search" campaign. However, when I look at the total number of clicks the discrepancy between the two is high...I'm talking 30 to 40% difference.... So I was thinking that perhaps neither Omniture nor Google Analytics really count clicks coming from the "Content Network" as searches or visits? Would anyone agree to this, or does anyone have any other clever ideas? Thanks!! -Margarita

Questions about Adwords Display network.
I am starting up an Adwords campaign that is set to run in the Display (content) network only. In the past I have meshed search and content together, but after reading Brad Geddes book I see that I need to separate them. I can't see my quality score for my keywords - it just has a dash in place of QS. Is this normal? Additionally, I can't see how much I am paying per keyword. I only have one text ad and it is still pending approval. I have several image ads that have so far had a good CTR. I'm assuming that I can't see QS because my text ad is not running yet. But, if this is the case, then how do you optimize your campaign for image ads? I'm currently paying about 45 cents per click. (Previously when I had a poorly optimized quickly thrown together campaign I was paying twice that), but I believe that I could get this down significantly. Any help is greatly appreciated! You guys rock!
